Chapter 532: Chapter 172 Chen Jiusi’s Trap within a Trap (Please Subscribe)

”Chen Jiusi, you goddamned traitor!”

Nan Batian’s angry palm strike headed towards Chen Jie. Chen Jie felt bone-chilling frost lock onto him in an instant as if the entire space around him had frozen.

Such terrifying palm power was enough to astonish an Energy Transformation Master.

This was the peak strength of Energy Transformation; such power was virtually invincible. Chen Jie felt that even if he revealed his Seventeen Dragon Capturing Palms now, he probably wouldn’t be able to defeat Nan Batian.

Nan Batian’s strength had clearly improved, increasing by a level since his battle with the old beggar.

After the old beggar learned the Seventeen Dragon Capturing Palms, he could suppress Nan Batian and Liu Laoguai, but now he feared that even if he had learned the Eighteen Palms, he couldn’t suppress Nan Batian.

As Nan Batian launched a palm strike, Chen Jie, however, was not panicked.

First, this was Yelu Mansion; Nan Batian wouldn’t dare to do much to him here, and second, he had Elder Liu standing by his side.

Although Liu Laoguai couldn’t directly battle Nan Batian due to some of Yelu’s attitudes, they were allies, and Liu Laoguai wouldn’t stand by and do nothing.

Indeed, the moment Nan Batian’s attack came, Liu Laoguai suddenly made his move.

Whoosh!

Chen Jie felt a whoosh by his ear, the temperature soared, and then he saw Liu Laoguai leap up and strike at Nan Batian with a palm.

One ice, one fire, the two fiercely clashed, and with a snap, as their palms met, the air seemed to explode, ice and fire incompatible.

With a boom, the two were violently separated.

Nan Batian landed on the ground, his eyes icy as he looked at Chen Jie, while Liu Laoguai took a step back, his skill obviously not matching Nan Batian’s.

Liu Laoguai had a somewhat unsightly expression; the two had always been evenly matched, but now Nan Batian had managed to widen the gap in such a short time. If he didn’t test the waters today, he feared he’d be at a disadvantage in a real life-and-death battle in the future!

Nan Batian’s icy gaze swept over Chen Jie and said, ”Chen Jiusi, now that you have backing, you dare to frame me?”

Chen Jie responded with a smile, ”Gang Leader, why would you say that? When have I ever framed you? On the contrary, you’ve tried to set me up time and again!”

”Heh, won’t admit it, huh? Did you set this trap for me today?”

”Trap? What trap?”

Chen Jie looked at Nan Batian with a confused face, while Nan Batian, itchingly irritated, said, ”That guard who escaped?”

Chen Jie replied, ”What does your guard have to do with me? Oh, you’re not trying to frame me, are you? Surely you’re not going to say that guard is one of my men?”

”Could it be anything else?”

Nan Batian narrowed his eyes at Chen Jie, who said, ”Heh, Gang Leader, you’ve ruled the Fishing Guild for over a decade, and I’ve been in power for just over half a year. Do you think I could plant someone by your side? If so, you’re really too incompetent.”

”You!”

Nan Batian’s face turned icy.

Chen Jie continued, ”Let me guess, did Darugachi tell you something? Making you desperate, now trying to throw the blame on someone else, and I just happen to be the best scapegoat? But Gang Leader, by doing this, it’s like trying to plug your ears while stealing a bell, who would believe it?”

Chen Jie was very calm because all this was within his plan, including Yelu lecturing Nan Batian.

This was also one of the multiple actions in Chen Jie’s plans—certainly not the only one, but indeed one of them.

Nan Batian had already fallen into the trap, and escaping now would be difficult.

Thinking so, Chen Jie watched Nan Batian with a smile on his face. After a long silence, Nan Batian finally said, ”We’ll see,” and then directly left Yelu Mansion. He knew he couldn’t strike twice here; otherwise, Yelu would surely intervene.

Meanwhile, in Yelu’s room, Yelu and Qimu Ge stood before a window designed specially so that one could see outside from within, but not the other way around.

Qimu Ge, looking outside, said to Yelu, ”Master, do you think it was Chen Jiusi who framed Nan Batian?”

At that moment, Yelu was watching Chen Jie outside, and at that moment, whether intentional or not, Chen Jie’s gaze also fell on Yelu inside. Their eyes met.

”It’s no longer important,” Yelu said.

”Hm?”

Qimu Ge didn’t understand. Yelu continued, ”Because whether it was him or not, Nan Batian has already gotten into trouble, and that’s what he wanted.”

Qimu Ge heard this but didn’t comprehend.

Yelu didn’t say more; he just admired Chen Jiusi from the window. He hadn’t been mistaken—whether or not it was Chen Jiusi’s doing, he had succeeded.

If it wasn’t the work of Chen Jiusi, then it was Nan Batian’s own doing; perhaps he had truly colluded with the Zoroastrian Sect.

This would mean Yelu’s suspicions were justified.

And if not?

If it was Chen Jiusi’s frame-up, it was no matter; Nan Batian had always been duplicitous towards him, and it was time for Yelu to teach him a lesson.

Chen Jiusi had conveniently handed him a knife.

However,

Yelu narrowed his eyes and then ordered Qimu Ge, ”Keep an eye on Chen Jiusi lately, keep track of his movements, and report back to me!”

Qimu Ge asked, ”Master, him?”

”Just watch him,” Yelu said. ”Until the batch of military supplies is found, everyone is a suspect.”

”Understood.”

...

The incident at Yelu Mansion had come to an end. Chen Jie and Xiao Hu left the mansion, with Xiao Hu asking, ”Jiu Si, what’s our next move?”

Chen Jie responded, ”Do nothing. Tell your men to keep a low profile over the next few days. Yelu will have us under surveillance, we just need to go about the funeral arrangements as usual; don’t do anything extra.”
