Chapter 523: Chapter 170 Plotting Against Nan Batian_4

So, what’s there to be surprised about? The show must go on.

For a moment, all three of them looked surprised. Yelu glanced at them and didn’t notice anything amiss—could it be that none of them knew?

Chen Jie then spoke up, ”Lord Yelu, is the source of your information reliable?”

”Yes, Lord Yelu, is the source of your information reliable?”

Hearing this, Yelu replied, ”Of course it’s reliable. Bring him in.”

As he spoke, Yelu called out and soon two burly fellows dragged in a man who looked like a dead dog, leaving a trail of blood. The man was dressed in tattered clothes, and his limbs were mangled, missing both an arm and a leg.

He appeared to have been severely tortured.

Chen Jie glanced at him twice and didn’t pay further attention; he knew this was the person responsible for the transportation line managed by the Zoroastrian Sect.

Elder Liu then looked at Yelu and asked, ”Lord, who is this person?”

Yelu responded, ”This man is responsible for the transportation of iron and materials for the Zoroastrian Sect. He was captured by Qimu Ge recently, and after being tortured, he revealed that inside Mianshui County, a batch of military weapons, primarily crossbow and bow arrowheads, were being forged. Initially, he was supposed to oversee their transportation out of Mianshui County, but now, that won’t be necessary.”

”That would be easy to handle; just let him say who is making these military weapons, and we can directly send people to capture them.”

Chen Jie promptly stated, and hearing this, Yelu said, ”If only it were that simple. This matter is somewhat complicated. These rebels from the Zoroastrian Sect are very cunning; they even adopted a single-line contact system, meaning the higher-ups know who he is, but he knows nothing about the higher-ups.”

”This?”

After hearing this, Chen Jie paused briefly, then followed up, ”Could it be that he’s tight-lipped and won’t speak?”

Yelu replied, ”Impossible. He has already endured more than half of the tortures available in the mansion, and no one with such tight lips could withstand so many brutal tortures. So, he genuinely does not know.”

Chen Jie, upon hearing this, pondered slightly and said, ”If he genuinely doesn’t know, how are we going to capture them?”

Hearing this, Yelu said, ”Hmm, that’s precisely the crux of the problem, which is why I’ve drafted a plan.”

Chen Jie said, ”Lord Yelu, please give your instructions.”

Nan Batian and Elder Liu also said, ”Lord Yelu, please give your instructions.”

Hearing this, Yelu said, ”Hmm, it’s like this. Now, wanting to capture them, it’s hard to pinpoint the targets, but they must leave the city. To leave the city, they must pass through the city gates, but I fear they might desperately force their way out. Therefore, I hope you all can do one thing.”

”Lord, please give your instructions.”

Yelu said, ”Each person sends an Energy Transformation Martial Artist and three hundred guards to help the government soldiers defend the city, preventing them from desperately forcing their way out. Qimu Ge will patrol outside the city with black flags, and if there’s any problem anywhere, immediately fire a signal arrow.”

”The rest will come to assist; this way, even if these devious rebels from the Zoroastrian Sect are cunning, they won’t escape Mianshui County.”

After Yelu finished speaking, Chen Jie and the others exchanged glances.

Each family sending an Energy Transformation Martial Artist, plus three hundred guards to defend the city gates—this was no small sacrifice, given that each guild currently had a limited number of such martial artists.

Guild Cao’s Elder Liu had only one Bai Mosheng under him.

And Chen Jie had only one, Chen Xiaohu.

The Fishing Guild Headquarters could send slightly more, but they only had Qin Ying and the tiger and leopard brothers, and the latter two counted as one.

Thinking this, Chen Jie narrowed his eyes, but thus the force guarding the city gates would be very powerful, making the possibility of a forcible breakthrough quite small.

So, to transport the military weapons out of the city, other methods would need to be employed.

Thinking this, Chen Jie remembered the strategy he had discussed last night with Sun Tiechui and Qiao Hongyan Han He.

They had also mentioned the issue of the person who had been captured by Darugachi Mansion, and had unanimously agreed that this person would definitely confess about their manufacturing of military weapons in the city. Thus, Chen Jie had also come up with a strategy in response.

And he had made a series of arrangements.

On this matter, Chen Jie had indeed found a great method—not only could he transport the military weapons out of the city using it, most importantly, Chen Jie could also use this method to trap Nan Batian once, perhaps even completely take him down.

Chen Jie had originally planned to find an opportunity to advise Lord Darugachi, but Darugachi had directly brought up the matter himself, which actually paved the way for Chen Jie, making his suggestion appear all the more natural.

Thinking this, Chen Jie glanced at Nan Batian, a cold smile forming at the corner of his mouth, ”Nan Batian, you’ve sabotaged me so many times; now it’s my turn to trap you.”

Chen Jie thought, then said, ”Lord Yelu, I fully agree with your opinion. My White Tiger Hall will reassign people tomorrow. My cousin, Chen Xiaohu, will lead the team and follow your arrangement.”

Chen Jie’s statement made Yelu’s lips curl up in satisfaction; Chen Jiusi really was sensible.

Thinking this, Yelu said, ”Good.”

Chen Jie said, ”However, Lord, I need to inform you that in seven days, my White Tiger Hall has a funeral to hold, and Xiaohu might need to attend.”

”A funeral?”

Yelu looked at Chen Jie, who replied, ”Yes, it’s like this. The son of Guild Leader Liu was poisoned...”

”My twenty-eight brave warriors risked their lives to save my master, and I am grateful to them from the bottom of my heart, so please, Lord, approve.”

Yelu responded, ”Good, good, such guards deserve a grand funeral; I approve.”

”Thank you, Lord!”

Chen Jie bowed with his fists, while Nan Batian, hearing this, did not look pleased, as the devious person Chen Jie mentioned was him; it was he who caused the twenty-eight people to die. But he was thick-skinned and didn’t care.
