Chapter 522: Chapter 170 Plotting Against Nan Batian_3

”Okay.”

Chen Jie smiled, then Nan Batian said, ”By the way, don’t let Doctor Bai do such dangerous things in the future. I heard that he was attacked on his way back, almost didn’t make it, right? If something happened, our Fishing Guild would have lost an excellent doctor.”

Chen Jie’s face darkened, then he said with a smile, ”Yes, Gang Leader, you are completely right. I’ll be careful, and next time I won’t give the thieves any chance.”

The two of them were whispering quietly when Yelu spoke up, ”What are you two talking about?”

Chen Jie replied, ”Nothing much, just discussing some family elder matters with the Gang Leader.”

Yelu said, ”Alright, today we have a banquet, let’s not talk about family matters. Since everyone is here, you all may leave.”

Yelu waved his hand, signaling the dancers to withdraw.

”Notify them to start the banquet.”

Upon hearing this, the people below immediately brought in tables, setting up a large one and then serving the dishes.

Fortunately, today was not an all-fish banquet. Our Lord Darugachi is famously fond of fish, but today’s feast was very rich.

In the center was a roasted whole lamb, along with some Mulan specialties, and finally, a charcoal brazier was brought to each person.

On it was an iron plate, clearly intended for everyone to cook meat to their own liking, as some prefer it more cooked than others.

Soon all kinds of delicious dishes were served, and to finish, Yelu’s favorite dish, sashimi, was served.

It was unknown why Lord Yelu had such a particular fondness for sashimi.

Looking at the complete serving of dishes, Yelu was the first to pick up his chopsticks, grabbed a bunch of sashimi, and ate it with a satisfied expression on his face.

Nan Batian tried a bite following Yelu. Elder Liu didn’t move, Chen Jie didn’t eat raw food and pan-fried his sashimi.

He then took a bite.

Yelu then said, ”Everyone, don’t be restrained. There are no grudges or hierarchies from Jianghu here, so feel free to enjoy yourselves.”

Hearing this, several people all bowed their heads and said, ”Yes, Lord Yelu.”

Yelu smiled without saying anything, then took a few more bites, drank a few sips of wine, and glanced at Nan Batian. He saw that Nan Batian’s face was grim, and his eyes were fixed on Jiu Si with an unfriendly demeanor.

Yelu cleared his throat and said, ”Guild Leader Nan, as I said, we’re only here to eat today, no matter the grudges. Why do you keep staring at Jiu Si? Do you still have unresolved grievances, or do you need my help?”

Nan Batian immediately responded, ”Lord Yelu, you worry too much. I have a great relationship with Jiu Si, there are no grievances.”

Upon hearing this, Elder Liu sarcastically said, ”Yes, there are no grievances, yet you haven’t stopped setting traps for Jiu Si. If it weren’t for Jiu Si’s quick reactions, he would probably have been harmed by now.”

”What nonsense are you talking about? Elder Liu, when have I ever harmed Jiu Si?”

”Jiu Si is a pillar of our guild, I cherish him too much to oppress or frame him. Besides, as someone from Guild Cao, how could you possibly know the affairs of our Fishing Guild? It’s nothing but hearsay. Don’t start trouble here at Lord Yelu’s place!”

”I’m starting trouble!”

Elder Liu was instantly furious, but just as he began to speak, he thought better of it and shut his mouth, then sat down and stayed quiet.

He didn’t want to ignite a major conflict.

At this moment, Chen Jie also opportunistically tried to smooth things over, ”Haha, thank you both for your kindness. Today let’s not talk about these matters. Lord Yelu didn’t invite us here just for a simple meal, did he?”

Hearing this, Yelu looked around and said, ”Hmm, nothing gets past Jiu Si.”

Yelu then sighed and said, ”It’s hard being Darugachi. The court has entrusted me with a county, and I must manage it carefully. Any small problem there, and I can hardly sleep at night. I apologize to everyone; I haven’t had a peaceful sleep in a long time.”

Hearing this, everyone fell silent, then looked at Yelu and said, ”Lord, you have been working hard.”

Yelu said, ”It’s not hard. I diligently serve the people. Although I am from the Mulan, I treat the Han people equally and have never targeted...”

Everyone looked at Yelu, baffled. What exactly was Lord Yelu trying to do?

As they wondered, Yelu suddenly continued, ”But why, why when I love the Han people so much, do they still oppose me!”

Upon hearing this, everyone immediately realized his critical point.

At that moment, Nan Batian spoke up, ”Lord, who dares to oppose you? We will eradicate this problem for you!”

Yelu replied, ”The Zoroastrian Sect!”

Everyone fell silent, exchanging glances, then Nan Batian said, ”The Zoroastrian Sect has entered Mianshui County?”

Yelu answered, ”Yes, they have entered our Mianshui County and are also planning a big operation.”

”A big operation? What kind of operation?”

Everyone looked at Yelu, who said, ”They are manufacturing a batch of weapons to support the Northern Rebel Army!”

Hmm?

Upon hearing this, everyone’s eyes widened. The Northern Rebel Army referred to the Zoroastrian Sect’s rebel army in the north, but they were actually manufacturing weapons in Mianshui County? That was incredibly bold.

Nan Batian and Elder Liu exchanged shocked looks.

They had known that the sect was secretly purchasing pig iron, but they had thought it was typically transported away. Why had they chosen to manufacture weapons in the county this time?

Meanwhile, Chen Jie was also shocked. On the surface, he showed no sign of disturbance, but inside, he wasn’t surprised at all.

Surprised? He not only knew that the Zoroastrian Sect was manufacturing weapons in the city, but he had also agreed to help them transport these weapons out of the city!
