Daily Intelligence System: Don't Kill Me, Honey!

Chapter 524: Chapter 170 A Scheme Against Nan Batian_5

At this moment, Nan Batian also decided to have Qin Ying lead three hundred people to join the Patrol Team, while Elder Liu instructed Bai Mosheng to bring people to participate in the patrol team.

Thus, Lord Yelu would have achieved his objective for the day by obtaining three Energy Transformation Masters to guard the city gates, making it nearly impossible for the Zoroastrian Sect to escape.

As he thought about this, Chen Jie started to speak, ”Lord Yelu, we shouldn’t be so passive; instead, we should turn passivity into initiative.”

Lord Yelu looked at Chen Jie and asked, ”How can we turn passivity into initiative?”

Nan Batian and Elder Liu also turned to look, wanting to see what Chen Jie had in mind. At this moment, Chen Jie, with a smile on his face, said, ”Actually, it’s quite simple. We can analyze the situation.”

Lord Yelu looked at him and asked, ”How do you propose we analyze it?”

”First of all, the intelligence is accurate, right?” Chen Jie asked. Hearing this, Qimu Ge spoke up, ”Absolutely no falsehoods, I personally extracted it through interrogation.”

Chen Jie said, ”That’s great, so it means that there are indeed people forging weapons in Mianshui County!”

Qimu Ge nodded, and Chen Jie continued, ”Then the matter is simple. Mianshui County is only so large; we can monitor it. And for them to forge weapons, there will inevitably be the clang and bang of blacksmithing. Such sounds are not easy to cover, yet no one has reported it for so long, indicating that they’ve concealed it very well.”

”To cover up the sound of blacksmithing, I can only think of two methods. The first is to dig a cellar; after digging deep, raise some chickens, ducks, and geese on top to mask the sound of blacksmithing with their noises.”

Chen Jie described his first method, which had a precedent. Zhu Di used this tactic to forge weapons during the Jingnan Campaign.

Of course, these people didn’t know who Zhu Di was, but they found the reasoning sound.

Chen Jie continued, ”However, this method covers too wide an area and is not easy to investigate. We can set it aside for now, as I believe there is a second method that won’t attract attention.”

”What is it?”

Everyone looked at Chen Jie, who said, ”Forge within a blacksmith shop.”

”Hmm?”

Upon hearing this, everyone looked at Chen Jie, who explained, ”Yes, forge within a blacksmith shop. Think about it, isn’t it normal for a blacksmith shop to be busy with the hammering sounds all day long? But who can tell whether they’re making farming tools or military weapons?”

”So why not conduct a surprise inspection? We might just have an unexpected find.”

Chen Jie shared his thoughts. Lord Yelu’s eyes lit up; this strategy was viable.

A surprise inspection, although Lord Yelu was unfamiliar with the term, he grasped the meaning. After musing for a moment, he remarked, ”Indeed, what Jiu Si suggests is quite reasonable.”

”What do you all think?”

Elder Liu said, ”Hmm, what Jiu Si has proposed is sound; this plan is exquisite.”

Nan Batian, though reluctant to admit it, had to concede, ”Hmm, what Jiu Si has said makes sense.”

Qimu Ge nodded and added, ”Hmm, this method can work; my lord could give it a try.”

Lord Yelu nodded and concurred, ”Hmm, very well. Since it’s settled, let’s have a surprise inspection. By the way, how many blacksmith shops are there in Mianshui County, and which is the largest?”

Hearing this, Nan Batian said, ”There are four blacksmith shops in Mianshui County at present, but the largest is definitely the Sun Family Blacksmith Shop in East City. Sun Tiechui is also one of the Thirteen Grand Protectors.”

Elder Liu agreed, ”Hmm, that’s right, Sun Tiechui indeed has some abilities.”

”Sun Tiechui?” Lord Yelu murmured, then quickly added, ”Hmm, let it be so. Qimu Ge, call your men to arms and head to East City immediately. Conduct a thorough search of the Sun Family Blacksmith Shop. Oh, and you three come along too. Since Sun Tiechui is one of the Thirteen Grand Protectors, it’s good to have several more Energy Transformation experts for support!”

Upon hearing these instructions, everyone saluted and answered in unison, ”Understood.”

Lord Yelu waved his hand and said, ”Hmm, you all prepare then. I will retire to my room for a rest.”

Soon, Lord Yelu retired to his quarters, leaving Chen Jie and the others outside. At this moment, Chen Jie looked around before saying, ”Alright, now we have something to do.”

Nan Batian looked at Chen Jie and said, ”Jiu Si, I see you’re very keen on capturing the Zoroastrian Sect.”

Chen Jie laughed, ”I have no choice. Since I’ve pledged myself to the court, I must show some commitment.”

As Chen Jie spoke, he had already moved outside. Elder Liu followed him, and Nan Batian came out too, not wanting to let Elder Liu and Chen Jie be alone together, fearing they might scheme against him.

Outside, Chen Jie gave Xiao Hu a meaningful glance, and Xiao Hu caught on immediately, slipping away silently.

Meanwhile, Chen Jie looked at Elder Liu and said, ”Guild Leader Liu, seven days from now my White Tiger Hall will be holding a funeral, and I would be honored if Guild Leader Liu could grace us with your presence.”

Elder Liu responded, ”Hmm, those twenty-eight heroes also sacrificed themselves to save my son; my Guild Cao owes them a favor. I will definitely attend, and if my son Liu Song’s health improves, I’ll bring him along to bid farewell to the heroes!”

Chen Jie bowed and replied, ”Thank you, Guild Leader Liu.”

Elder Liu said, ”We’re brothers; no need for thanks. Speaking of which, aren’t you going to ask if your Guild Leader Nan will attend?”

Hearing this, Chen Jie looked at Nan Batian and asked, ”Leader, would you care to go?”

Nan Batian replied, ”I have matters to attend to.”

Why would he go there? He was the one who caused their deaths; attending would only disgrace whom?

Chen Jie looked at Nan Batian and said, ”Leader, shouldn’t we send off our brother by bowing before him?”

Nan Batian, with a stern face, replied, ”Me bow my head to them?”

Chen Jiusi said, ”Shouldn’t you? Leader, you ought to be clear in your conscience. Had it not been for your involvement, they wouldn’t have died. Don’t you want to show some remorse?”

Nan Batian scoffed coldly, ”Heh, who told them to choose the wrong master? Choosing the wrong master comes with a price; that’s my principle.”
