Reverend Insanity: Dream Gu

With Lin Yan’s Formation Path attainment now at Grandmaster, many flaws he had previously overlooked became obvious. After several rounds of modification, the production efficiency of the twenty stone nests nearly doubled, allowing them to refine close to two hundred thousand Rank Five Gu every year.

These were still mortal formations, so improving them posed little difficulty for a Formation Path Grandmaster. What prevented Lin Yan from taking them any further was not his attainment, but the lack of a suitable Refinement Path Immortal Gu.

”The basic formation is complete. Once I obtain a suitable Refinement Path Immortal Gu and place it at the core, I can raise the entire formation to Rank Six. By then, it will no longer be limited to mass-producing mortal Gu and can directly assist me in refining Immortal Gu.”

Fire Refining Immortal Gu immediately came to mind. Lin Yan remembered its complete Gu recipe from his previous life, and its abilities were perfectly suited to Flame Sovereign Blessed Land.

Unfortunately, Fire Refining Immortal Gu already had an owner at this point in time. Unless that Gu Immortal died or the existing Immortal Gu was destroyed, Lin Yan could not refine another one.

There was no reason to waste immortal materials on a refinement that could never succeed. Lin Yan set those thoughts aside and arrived before the Thousand Wishes Tree. What he planned to do here was much more difficult than rebuilding the Hairy Man Gu Refinement Formation.

With a sweep of his sleeve, large quantities of immortal materials flew out and surrounded the towering tree, followed by tens of thousands of Gu worms, most of which were Human Will Gu.

In the past, making such a grand formation would have required countless calculations and repeated tests to ensure that its different parts did not interfere with one another. Now, Lin Yan could see how most of the formation should be arranged with a single glance. The Formation Path attainment he had gained from Zhen Yuanzi’s Dream Realm allowed him to understand how every part should connect before he even began.

The Thousand Wishes Tree stood at the heart of the grand formation. From there, thousands of Human Will Gu spread outward in every direction, forming one formation node after another. The remaining Gu worms and immortal materials connected these nodes, gradually forming a vast network around the tree.

Lin Yan proceeded carefully, testing each part as soon as it was completed. Whenever he found a flaw or conflict, he immediately stopped and corrected it before continuing. The grand formation slowly took shape around the Thousand Wishes Tree, expanding outward one layer at a time.

Dozens of days passed before Lin Yan placed the last Gu worm in position. He then inspected the entire formation from beginning to end, making sure that every part connected properly and that the flow of power remained stable.

Only then did he take out Firelike Immortal Gu and place it within the central formation core.

The moment Firelike Immortal Gu entered the formation, countless patterns surrounding the Thousand Wishes Tree blazed to life. Streams of light raced through every node and spread across the entire formation.

Buzz, buzz, buzz!

The grand formation activated!

At the northern end of Li Fire Plains, dozens of towering cities stretched across the land, housing millions of people. Wisps of white smoke rose from every person, carrying traces of human qi into the sky. As they gathered above the cities, they merged into a vast sea of hazy white mist.

The Rank Six Immortal Gu Formation, Raging Fire, finally revealed its true power. An ethereal flame ignited within the sea of human qi and spread rapidly in every direction. Wherever it passed, the white mist turned crimson. Before long, rolling red clouds covered the sky above the cities. The quality of the human qi increased threefold, while its total volume expanded to nearly three times its original size.

Millions of people throughout the cities simultaneously sensed something different. Although none of them understood what had happened, their fatigue faded, their bodies grew more vigorous, and even their thoughts became clearer. The young were filled with energy and enthusiasm, while the elderly felt their aching backs and stiff limbs greatly relieved, allowing them to move with unexpected vigor.

Lin Yan stood beneath the Thousand Wishes Tree with his hands behind his back, observing the changes. Behind him, its enormous phantom spread across the sinkhole. Streams of crimson human qi poured into it, causing the hazy image to grow increasingly solid. Its pale pink blossoms turned crimson, while the fruits hidden among its branches swelled and ripened at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Lin Yan nodded in satisfaction. The formation was operating almost exactly as he had intended. However, when he examined the changes occurring within his own body, his smile slowly disappeared.

Raging Fire did not only affect mortals. Even Gu Immortals could benefit from it.

The change was difficult to define. It did not help in Lin Yan’s cultivation, dao marks, or attainment, nor did it simply accelerate his thoughts. After examining himself for several moments, he finally found the closest word to describe it.
