Reverend Insanity: Dream Gu

That was why, in Lin Yan previous life, his highest priority had been finding a way to slow the flow of time within his immortal aperture.

For most Gu Immortals, this was hardly an issue. A normal blessed land usually began with a time flow ratio of around ten-to-one. Most Gu Immortals would lower the time flow of their immortal apertures to around three or four times that of the outside world. Tribulations arrived slowly enough for them to recover, restore their blessed lands, and steadily accumulate their foundation before the next calamity.

Lin Yan, however, was an exception.

Having ascended with a Ten Extreme Physique, his blessed land possessed an astonishing time flow ratio of forty-to-one. An Earthly Calamity descended every three months, leaving him almost no time to recover. Without a way to delay the tribulations, a Gu Immortal with a Ten Extreme Physique would almost certainly perish long before reaching Rank Eight.

Because of this, Lin Yan spent ten years in his previous life focused on this single problem. He first refined an entirely new Immortal Gu before spending countless years conducting deductions within the Dream Realm. Only then did he create an immortal killer move capable of regulating the time flow of his blessed land. After all, using Flame Path to imitate the profundities of Time Path was no easy feat.

Compared to solving the tribulation problem, resolving his lifespan issue was much simpler. By trading several newly deduced Immortal Gu recipes with the White-haired Land Spirit of Lang Ya Blessed Land, Lin Yan exchanged for a five-hundred-year Lifespan Gu. To Lang Ya Blessed Land, which had accumulated thousands of years’ worth of Lifespan Gu, such a trade barely affected its foundation.

With both his tribulation and lifespan problems resolved, Lin Yan’s years of preparation finally began to bear fruit. Over the next hundred years, he successively created the killer moves Dream Seeking, Dream Interpretation, and Awakening from a Dream, together with their corresponding Dream Path Immortal Gu. Relying on these methods, he became one of the first Gu Immortals to explore the Dream Realms scattered throughout five regions in Gu world, rapidly raising the attainment of numerous paths.

However, exploring Dream Realms was extremely dangerous. Every exploration consumed the soul, and without a continuous supply of Guts Gu from Dang Hun Mountain, it was impossible to withstand such losses for long.

In fact, Lin Yan knew that Dang Hun Mountain was hidden within Hu Immortal Blessed Land. Yet he never attempted to seize it. He feared that doing so would alter the timeline, for the mountain was destined to fall into Feng Jinhuang’s hands, allowing her to strengthen her soul and safely explore Dream Realms.

His original plan was much simpler.,Once Feng Jinhuang obtained Dang Hun Mountain and began producing Guts Gu, he would simply purchase them through Treasure Yellow Heaven.

Reality, however, unfolded very differently. For five hundred years, not a single Guts Gu appeared in Treasure Yellow Heaven.

Because of this, Lin Yan’s exploration of Dream Realms during the first three hundred years of his previous life was filled with setbacks. He was often forced to stop his exploration and spend months restoring his soul before entering another Dream Realm.

What made matters worse was that the Dream Realms he encountered at the beginning mostly belonged to ordinary Gu Masters or Rank Six Gu Immortals. While relatively safe to explore, the true meaning they contained was limited, usually only enough to raise an attainment to the Master realm.

Even so, by combining Dream Storage, deductions within the Dream Realm, and the true meaning hidden inside countless Dream Realms, his attainments advanced at an astonishing pace. His Dream Path, Flame Path, and Rule Path all reached Grandmaster, while Human Path, Soul Path, Lightning Path, Formation Path, Wisdom Path, and Refinement Path all advanced to Master. Across the five regions, very few Gu Immortals possessed attainments in so many paths

Yet among all these paths, Dream Path was the only one he had truly cultivated through his own efforts. The attainments of every other path, including Flame Path and Refinement Path, had been accumulated primarily by inheriting the true meaning left behind within countless Dream Realms.

Feng Jinhuang, on the other hand, seemed to have Heaven itself clearing the way for her. During her very first exploration, she encountered the Dream Realm left behind by Old Immortal Kong Jue, the Refinement Path Supreme Grandmaster and a Rank Eight Gu Immortal, yet returned safely.

But Lin Yan knew Heaven’s Will was not the only force watching her.

As early as the battle of Yi Tian Mountain in the Southern Border, little more than Twenty years after Lin Yan’s rebirth in his previous life, Spectral Soul Demon Venerable had already resurrected against heaven’s will. Hidden in the shadows, he quietly began laying plans against the future Great Dream Seed.

Dang Hun Mountain was the supreme treasure of Soul Path and one of Spectral Soul’s most important possessions. He had even left behind the killer move within the mountain. As the Venerable who had refined the Sovereign Immortal Fetus Gu, dealing with a mere Rank Five Gu Master like Feng Jinhuang would have been as effortless as crushing an ant.

Yet Spectral Soul never acted personally. Instead, he quietly guided events from the shadows, ensuring that Feng Jinhuang never had the chance to truly rise in the first timeline and ultimately died at Fang Yuan’s hands.
