Reverend Insanity: Dream Gu

”Those two true inheritances should be enough.”

Having decided on his next objective, Lin Yan activated dream path killer move, Dream Seeking.

Dreamlike light radiated from Lin Yan’s entire body. Before him, the Formation Spirit suddenly grew restless as seven-colored light gathered around it. A moment later, a brilliant beam erupted from its body, pierced through Flame Sovereign Blessed Land, and extended into the outside world, pointing toward a vast Dream Realm hidden somewhere between heaven and earth.

”Hahaha! So this is where Zhen Yuanzi’s Dream Realm was hiding!”

After arriving, Lin Yan laughed heartily. Dream Seeking required something closely connected to the deceased Gu Immortal whose Dream Realm he sought. By tracing that connection, Lin Yan could locate the Dream Realm they had left behind.

Unlike Dream Wings Immortal Gu, it could not freely enter the Dream Realms hidden throughout the world. Instead, it allowed Lin Yan to search for the Dream Realm of a specific Gu Immortal. By targeting those who had cultivated the paths he needed, he could deliberately raise the corresponding attainments.

Without wasting any time, Lin Yan sent his soul into the Dream Realm. His crimson soul had already become completely solid, and three crystal-clear Immortal Gu rested within it: Dream Derivation, Dream Revelation, and Dream Awakening.

He had brought all three with him. Zhen Yuanzi had been a Formation Path Grandmaster whose research touched upon the mysteries of land spirits and Heaven Path. There was no telling what dangers might appear inside his Dream Realm, so Lin Yan had no intention of entering unprepared.

His soul foundation had also grown much stronger. Two years of steady accumulation had already brought considerable improvement. During his recent stay in Green Ghost Desert, he had spent more than ten days hunting soul beasts while purchasing additional Soul Path resources from Treasure Yellow Heaven.

After absorbing everything, his soul foundation had finally reached the hundred thousand man soul level. Among Rank Six Gu Immortals, possessing such a powerful soul was extremely rare.

Buzz! Buzz! Buzz!

The world around Lin Yan twisted and disappeared. When his vision returned, he found himself standing inside an unfamiliar blessed land, with a small land spirit trembling nervously before him. Lin Yan quickly realized that he had taken Zhen Yuanzi’s place at the moment when he began creating Formation Spirit Immortal Gu.

Unlike the Dream Realms Lin Yan had explored before, this one covered an enormous span of time. Days became months, months became years, and Lin Yan personally experienced nearly ten years of Zhen Yuanzi’s life.

Zhen Yuanzi had originally been a Righteous Path Gu Immortal of the Che Family, one of Western Desert’s super forces. His interest in Formation Spirits had begun with a simple question.

Blessed lands could give birth to land spirits, while grotto-heavens could possess heavenly spirits. Since those spirits could independently manage an entire immortal aperture, could a similar existence be created to control a Gu formation?

That single thought takes years of his life.

Zhen Yuanzi began studying land spirits, comparing their personalities, abilities, obsessions, and connections to their blessed lands. The Che Family initially supported his research and allowed him to use several clan-owned blessed lands for his experiments. To a super force, the possibility of creating something capable of independently controlling grand formations was worth the investment.

Unfortunately, progress came at a terrible price. Experiment after experiment ended in failure. Some blessed lands suffered severe damage, while others were ruined beyond recovery, yet Formation Spirit Immortal Gu remained nothing more than an idea.

As the losses continued to accumulate, opposition within the Che Family grew stronger. Eventually, the clan refused to provide Zhen Yuanzi more resources.

But Zhen Yuanzi still refused to stop. Without access to the resources he needed, his conflict with the Che Family became increasingly severe. What began as a disagreement over his research eventually destroyed his relationship with the clan. In the end, Zhen Yuanzi chose to leave rather than abandon the path he had pursued for so many years.

Ironically, it was only after leaving the Che Family that he finally succeeded.

Formation Spirit Immortal Gu was born!

Its birth proved that his years of research and countless failures had not been meaningless. However, by then, the relationship between Zhen Yuanzi and the Che Family could no longer be repaired.

When arranging his inheritance near the end of his life, Zhen Yuanzi ultimately chose not to leave it to his former clan. Instead, he concealed it in Western Desert and waited for someone capable of passing his test.

When Lin Yan finally broke free from the Dream Realm, nearly ten years of Zhen Yuanzi’s experiences flooded his mind at once. His face turned deathly pale as terrible pain tore through his soul. He coughed violently and spat out a mouthful of blood, taking several breaths to stabilize himself.

Yet the moment he sensed his attainment, all his exhaustion vanished beneath a wide smile.

His Formation Path attainment had reached Grandmaster!
