Ning An's Wild Wish System

Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Exposing Fakes? Sounds Like You Want to Be Sacrificed

Everyone comes here to offer incense and make wishes,

and every request is answered.

Even the country would have to send troops over to check if there’s really any Evil God causing trouble?

Besides, what if someone really makes an unbelievably ridiculous wish.

Miss Dongfeng Missile might just end up dancing cheek-to-cheek with him, warmly inviting him to the Yellow Springs Underworld.

Thinking of this, Ning An already had an idea.

”Fellow devotees, listen to what I, the Little Daoist, have to say.”

”In today’s scientific society, metaphysics or theology are nothing but nonsense; we believe in different things just for psychological comfort.”

”Burning incense and praying for blessings is also just for psychological comfort, and I hope everyone can view it rationally.”

Ning An’s words made the entire livestream room even more amused.

”Alright, alright, whatever the Brother Sect Leader says goes, brothers, let’s not take things out of context~”

”The Daoist Master tells me to believe in science, and then he turns around and flies off the mountain himself?”

”This Little Daoist’s got quite a personality, unlike other temples that wish for more incense burners, our Little Daoist is actually pushing them away. I like it.”

And the silly college students turned into Outer Realm demons with their abstract comments.

”Brother Sect Leader, I don’t want that; I just want my dog-son to personally go and burn two sticks of incense for the ancestor.”

”Yesterday you called me little incense, and today you’re telling me to go away. Brother Sect Leader, if you keep this up, I might not like you anymore.”

”Sect Leader baby, I want to ask, if I recognize Meng Po as my godmother, when I walk on Yellow Springs Road, can I act cute to get her to put less soup for me?”

...

Seeing these abstract comments, Ning An couldn’t help but want to smack them into pieces.

Although he knew these college students were mostly joking, he couldn’t handle the mixture of serious and unserious here.

Not caring about these comments anymore, Ning An directly pointed the camera at the nine purple gold incense sticks in the middle of the altar.

”Alright, without further ado, today I’ll introduce to you the treasure of our Daoist Temple—Divine Invitation Incense.”

Of course, the name Divine Invitation Incense was thought up by Ning An himself.

After all, in terms of granting wishes, the system was as good as any god, if not better.

Hearing this, the livestream viewers were momentarily stunned.

”What the...? So when that murderer came last time, the Little Daoist was hiding some exclusive stuff~”

”Hey, that’s not fair to say; I’d also wait for the biggest audience to bring out the good stuff and sell at a good price.”

”Brother Sect Leader, how is this incense different from ordinary incense?”

Facing the comments’ inquiries, Ning An gave a sly smile.

”That’s a great question, my fellow devotee. Although it’s the treasure of the temple, it actually has just one function: a hundred requests, a hundred fulfillments.”

”If the previous incense burners had to sacrifice something for their wishes, the Divine Invitation Incense would exempt all such sacrifices completely!”

”Of course, the pricing will be correspondingly higher, but rest assured, there will be no extortion, and I welcome you all to supervise.”

What the heck?

Starting to scam people for money!!!

That was the thought in countless viewers’ minds at the moment.

”I call you Brother Sect Leader and you’re really into it, aren’t you?”

”The host is bragging a bit too much, isn’t he? Even if immortals in the sky grant wishes, it’s mutual; where can you find something that’s always granted?”

”I don’t believe it either; I’m a college student. If he’s got the guts, he can really let me try it!”

Ning An knew that saying this wouldn’t make anyone believe it, but he had no choice.

This incense really had this function; he couldn’t just make random stuff up.

Just as Ning An was smiling bitterly, a notification suddenly popped up in the livestream room.

[Streamer ”Aluf” requests to join you for a co-stream, do you agree?]

”Aluf?”

Seeing the name, Ning An felt it was somewhat familiar but couldn’t remember where he saw it.

”Oh ho! Isn’t this Brother Anti-counterfeiting? He’s here too.”

”Looks like our Evil God Cult’s name has spread, even such a popular figure can’t help but come to get a piece of the action.”

”Let’s just see if this Changchun Temple really has such power.”

Seeing the comments, Ning An gradually came back to his senses.

So it was him!

”Aluf” initially was just a not-so-famous anti-counterfeiting streamer, but he became famous after exposing pre-packaged kitchen meals.

He then started running around the country, exposing fakes everywhere, and was one of the most hated streamers among various businesses.

”Live linking?”

Ning An sneered,

The live link wasn’t real; the exposé was.

If the fraud were really exposed, the system might as well find a piece of tofu to smash itself to death.

Seeing the comments urging for a live link, Ning An didn’t hesitate and directly clicked agree.

Many viewers in the livestream room were excited to see this.

Many of them had been watching since Ning An started streaming.

They truly believed in the efficacy of Changchun Temple, even though it was a bit unconventional...

They never thought someone would be so bold, not afraid of being carried off themselves?

Meanwhile.

In Aluf’s livestream room.

The Brother Anti-counterfeiting spoke righteously:

”Changchun Temple, wish fulfillment?”

”That’s right, what I’m exposing next is the wish fulfillment at Changchun Temple.”

”I’ve seen the videos circulating online before, it’s obviously scripted.”

”Moreover, the era of feudal superstition is long gone; science is the leading force now, where are there any gods or ghosts.”

”Today, I must let everyone see the truth and resolutely combat this fraudulent behavior.”

And just as he was delivering his passionate speech, the two livestream rooms were connected.

”Fellow devotee, are you here to offer incense and make a wish?”

Ning An got straight to the point.

Though he asked, everyone knew Brother Anti-counterfeiting was definitely here to make a wish.

After all, an exposé streamer can’t make baseless claims; you at least have to verify it first, right?

Just as Ning An expected.

The short-haired young man across was overjoyed, his eyebrows almost flying off his face.

”Daoist Master, I want to offer incense, I want to make a wish, today I want all those nine sticks of incense!”

”I saw the most expensive incense in our temple was fifty before, no nonsense, I’ll pay five hundred, those nine sticks of incense are all mine, I want to see if they’re really this effective.”

Ning An didn’t say anything, but Changchun Temple’s fans laughed first.

Did you really think Changchun Temple was some place begging for money?

How could the Daoist Master say these were the temple’s treasures just before?

Which well-established temple would dare to sell its treasures so cheaply, lowering its own value?

Don’t you have any shame? The ancestor is watching from the sky!

Seeing Ning An remain silent, Brother Anti-counterfeiting realized he had gone too far, and lightly coughed twice: ”A hundred per stick, I’ll offer you a thousand for all nine, and the extra is just a token for the immortals.”

”I advise you not to go overboard. Be careful or I’ll report you to your Daoist Association.”

Now, even the die-hard fans couldn’t stand it, and even the haters joined in the heckling.

”Is this really our Brother Anti-counterfeiting? Show some strength! You’re taking someone else’s temple treasure for just a thousand bucks, did a beggar forget to eat before leaving, or did a monk dream of seafood?”

”In slightly more popular temples, people spend tens of thousands just to get the first incense position every day. Although Changchun Temple isn’t big, it’s still the home of immortals, is this a challenge?”

”If you don’t have what it takes, don’t learn to expose fakes. You’re really embarrassing us Northeasterners.”

Seeing the comments turning against him, Brother Anti-counterfeiting panicked, nervously looking at Ning An:

”Fifteen hundred...no, two thousand? Daoist Master, name your price, I genuinely want to offer incense.”

Ning An was initially a bit excited.

Wow.

Full package? Big customer!

But upon hearing it, he burst into laughter out of anger.

Who was he looking down on?

Immediately, Ning An smiled and said: ”Regular incense, the most expensive is fifty, but as for the temple’s treasure, it’s naturally different.”

”Changchun Temple may not be big, but it has its own standards, and this incense is free for those fated with it, as for you~”

”Two thousand per stick, non-negotiable!”
