Ning An's Wild Wish System

Chapter 12: Chapter 12: Others Seek Earthly Blessings, But You’re Worshipping the Underworld?!

case!

When this comment came out, the opposing netizens were puzzled.

Does Changchun Temple have a connection with a century-old case?

Then they quickly searched for it, and once they did, they were completely stunned.

The murderer of the pregnant woman case has been captured, and everyone imagined a scenario of the police working tirelessly for over a decade to bring him to justice.

But can you believe it, that this murderer was apprehended because he prayed for peace at Changchun Temple and was then forcibly subdued by the military into prison?

Praying? Wishing?

Has the world gone this mad?

The college students continued their momentum.

”Hey, don’t you guys say it, the method the streamer recommended to worship a godfather really works. I just prayed and feel a lot more energetic now.”

Upon hearing this, knowledgeable netizens perked up and confidently chimed in:

”Oh, I know this. In the countryside, children with weaker life charts often worship mountains, rivers, or immortals as godparents. Whom did you worship?”

”I guess the streamer recommended a deity from his Daoist temple. But let me tell you, this is just to have you invite the deity home, which is the main income of the temple, so don’t believe him...”

A naïve college student was immediately agitated:

”Damn your mother, I worship the Ten Halls of Yama in the Underworld—King Qin Guang. What nonsense analysis are you doing? Any Tom, Dick, or Harry dares to claim a share of my godfather’s incense?”

Such a statement shocked everyone far and wide!

The majority of netizens were left wide-eyed at this point.

What?

Are you okay? Recognizing a deity from the Underworld as your godfather?

Alright, alright, there’s no doubt this temple must be an evil god’s temple!

Yet, before these self-proclaimed righteous people could comment further, the wind direction online was turned back by the college students once more.

”Bro, what? You worship the God of Wealth? Listen to me, let’s worship Ox Head and Horse Face together.”

”Who cares about orthodoxy or not, listen to my analysis: you pray to the God of Wealth a thousand, ten thousand times, and he won’t remember you. There are so many people praying to him, how could he possibly remember one mortal like you?”

”You might pray to the God of Wealth thousands of times, and he would still ignore you, but for centuries, who has ever proactively worshiped a true deity of the Underworld? If you do it now, won’t he treasure you immensely?”

Wow!

With such a reverse output, making a coherent argument, not only naive college students but even the well-experienced working white-collar workers were intrigued, though some asked, baffled:

”If no one worships a true deity of the Underworld, then why not go for the greatest, Emperor Fengdu?”

Immediately, a college student sent a rolling eyes emoji.

”You think I don’t want to?”

”Ever since Little Daoist’s livestream ended, damn citizens, each said they don’t believe, but they acted fast. By the time I realized, the online and offline available Underworld statues, the highest rank left was Ox Head and Horse Face.”

”Well, I’m not talking to you anymore, going to worship my godfather, foster father, your child...”

In no time.

Countless young netizens, like ravenous wolves searching for food, frantically sought statues of the Underworld’s true deities both online and offline, while also following Ning An’s streaming account.

In just one night.

The incense and candle shops, the City God Market, all the statues of Underworld deities were completely wiped out. Many shopkeepers trembled as they looked at the number of Underworld deity statues pre-ordered by college students.

They never imagined that selling Underworld deity statues would be a lucrative opportunity.

...

Next day, before dawn.

Ning An had already cleaned up all the chores in the Daoist temple.

”No wonder the cultivation technique given by the system has such an ominous name, but it works like a charm.”

After practicing for two nights, although outwardly nothing seemed to change, Ning An could clearly feel the vitality within his body surge more vigorously.

A mere move, and it felt like he had endless strength.

”I never thought, Ning An, that the chance to ascend to an immortal lies in another world. Who could have guessed that?”

With a couple of hearty laughs, Ning An then placed the incense rewarded by the system in the center of the main hall and started his livestream.

Ning An felt itchy all over if he didn’t stream for a day now.

Attracting incense burners through online streaming is much friendlier than approaching strangers in real life to spread teachings.

Just the last time Li Tie made a wish and was captured brought in over a hundred thousand followers, not to mention there were two yesterday.

As the base grew, even if the conversion rate of followers to incense burners was low, it was still a significant breakthrough for his little Daoist temple.

Moreover, such topics naturally draw attention, and after a while, the follower count might even rival the Dragon and Tiger Temple in the city.

Sure enough, as his livestream began, the online viewer count surged exponentially.

”Woohoo! The brat didn’t lie, the streamer is indeed streaming at this time, not in vain did I skip my calculus class.”

”Daoist Master, how much is it to burn incense here? I’m a college student, can it be cheaper?”

”Big brother, yesterday I finally managed to invite Meng Po home to be my godmother. I almost got into a fight to win her. Gimme some praise!”

”Cult Leader, I also invited Ox Head and Horse Face home and recognized them as godfathers. The Celestial Dao is clear, we are destined to prosper!”

”Brother Sect Leader...”

Seeing the rapidly scrolling comments, Ning An’s temple throbbed along with it.

Brother Sect Leader, he does want to become an immortal ancestor, but definitely not the kind that’s a target of national crackdowns!!!

As for Meng Po? Fighting? Ox Head and Horse Face?

It’s truly baffling, what on earth is all this?

While Ning An was puzzled and confused, an old viewer in the livestream explained.

”Hahaha, didn’t the streamer worship Emperor Fengdu as a godfather last time? These people just learned from you, each going crazy recognizing Underworld deities as godfathers.”

”That’s right, Brother Sect Leader, your tactic is genuinely impressive, a stroke that cut to the chase, probably reducing the incense offerings to Celestial immortals by two tenths.”

”The Ten Halls of Yama down below are probably thrilled to bits, hahaha.”

...

Seeing the viewers’ explanation, Ning An finally understood.

It turns out that in the past couple of days, the events of Li Tie and Wang Yan making wishes have gone viral online.

Especially the words he said before going off-air yesterday, perfectly resonating with the eager contemporary college students.

Many college students who didn’t manage to snatch a statue were all sending comments.

Preparing to get an Underworld deity statue from him.

Ning An was speechless.

This is a legitimate Daoist temple, worshiping the ancestors of his sect, where would there be Underworld deity statues?

But looking at the increasingly bold remarks in the comments, Ning An was truly afraid.

He also went through the college phase and knows just how crazy these naïve college students can be.

”System, quick, quick, are there any limitations on incense burning?”

When in doubt, turn to metaphysics.

[Ding! Responding to host, there are]

Great!

Excitedly, Ning An clapped his hands, as long as there are some!

[Ding! A wish of the same type can only be fulfilled once daily and can be refreshed the next day.]

So that’s how it is.

A thoughtful expression flashed in Ning An’s eyes.
