A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 1494: Chapter 1484: No More Ties

Kong Lizhen stood up and sat beside the old lady.

The old lady held her hand, tears falling, ”Since you are safe, why don’t you reunite with Nuannuan? It’s so difficult for that child to stay in Upper City alone. You shouldn’t have taken Nuannuan to Upper City on your own back then, otherwise, none of this would have happened.”

Though her words were mostly reproachful, one could hear the old lady’s concern.

”Mom, it’s my fault,” Kong Lizhen said apologetically, ”Some deviations occurred during this period. Back then, Yanyan misunderstood and thought I had perished in the fire, but I actually went abroad.”

Ruan Xinyu sighed and said, ”Thank goodness it was a misunderstanding. It’s fine as long as you’re okay.”

The old lady nodded in agreement, ”Yes, as long as you’re safe. From now on, live in Beijing and don’t leave again. Your dad and I are getting old; we cannot endure any more of this.”

Kong Lizhen lowered her head without saying a word.

Staying in Beijing was clearly impossible, but she didn’t want to directly say it and hurt the feelings of the two elders.

The old man said, ”Children grow up and have their own lives. We must accept that there will be a time to leave; we can’t bind them to us because we want to see them every day.”

The old lady glanced at her husband, wanting to speak but ultimately continued the topic.

Her anger turned to Liang Rong, ”Why is that woman Liang Rong so vicious? Did our family offend her? Must she throw our family into such chaos before she’s satisfied?”

Kong Lizhen’s expression was indifferent, and she said nothing.

Regarding Liang Rong, she had long run out of words; only a tooth for a tooth would ease her resentment.

Ruan Xinyu glanced at Kong Lizhen, saying, ”It’s also somewhat Shao Yang’s fault for being too kind, encouraging Liang Rong’s greed, making Ah Ning and Nuannuan suffer so much.”

The old lady wholeheartedly agreed, ”That fool, his eyes glued shut with paste, but this time, Ah Ning, Dad and Mom will stand up for you. We won’t let him mess around again.”

Kong Lizhen remained silent, lowering her eyes, unsure of what she was thinking.

Mu Yan frowned and said, ”His eyes aren’t just glued shut; his heart and mind are too. Since he loves that woman Liang Rong so much, let them be together. My mom has me; she doesn’t need him.”

Some words were inconvenient for Kong Lizhen to say, but she didn’t mind.

Mom wants to be filial to Grandpa and Grandma, and her first duty is to be filial to Mom.

”Nuannuan,” Ruan Xinyu looked at her in disapproval, but faced with her cold expression, she immediately realized something and shut her mouth.

Of course, they hoped for a family reunion, but for Ah Ning and Nuannuan, reunion didn’t mean Ah Ning had to remarry Shao Yang.

Once certain things happen, they happen. They’re not the ones involved and have no right to tell her to let go of her prejudice!

But the old lady clearly didn’t think so. She looked at Kong Lizhen and advised, ”I know Shao Yang did many things to let you down, but he’s realized his mistakes. Let him spend the rest of his life compensating you and your daughter.”

Kong Lizhen was silent for a while, then said, ”Mom, compensation and wrongdoing don’t matter. It’s all in the past now, and we must look forward.”

”Yes, look forward,” the old lady quickly said, ”When Shao Yang returns, I’ll have him apologize to you.”

Mu Yan suddenly looked at Kong Lizhen, a hint of urgency flashing in her eyes. She feared her mom would compromise to please the old lady and wrong herself.

Kong Lizhen said calmly, ”No, there’s no need for an apology. What I mean is, he and I have nothing to do with each other anymore.”
