Raising My Children With My Personal Spatial Ability

Chapter 2531: Chapter 2531: Hoarding and Inflating Grain Prices

How could she give birth to two heartless sons like these? Something so big happened at home, yet they still have the heart to eat? Are they crazy?

“What a sin, what a sin! How could Que’er have a father and an uncle like you?”

When Que’er comes back, she must tell him what’s happened at home. When he achieves great things in the future, he shouldn’t bother with these heartless people!

The children looked at Old Lady An in the courtyard, then at the adults who had already gone inside to eat, and decisively followed them in.

Today, the books of the eldest brother were burned, and it seems like Grandma doesn’t have the mood to scold them. They can eat a little more now; isn’t it just so happy!

…

In the tree house.

An Jiuyue also returned, and the family sat around a table to eat.

“Brother, Sister-in-law, I came back from the county government and received some bad news.” An Jiuyue held a chicken wing but didn’t bite into it, recalling the news she received at the county government.

“What news?”

An Jiuyue gave each of the three children a chicken wing, letting them continue eating before looking up to ask her.

War is impossible.

The news of Qian Jiyun being an inter-plane traveler must have already spread in this plane; which country would dare to trouble the Daqing Kingdom by inciting a war?

“I heard from the government officials in the county that Xiang City and several surrounding prefecture cities to the north haven’t had much rain since last July, and severe drought has arrived.

The grain prices here have become very high, but the people haven’t gone mad with grain loot. However, the Emperor has ordered all county governments to reserve grain to be ready to support Xiang City and all Nan City.

The grain merchants who got the news are hoarding grain prices. I went to check the grain store prices; they are very high indeed.”

Upon hearing this, An Jiuyue raised an eyebrow.

Price gouging against the royal court? Is this something regular grain merchants can pull off?

“Just here?” she asked.

“Definitely not. I asked around where to buy reasonably-priced grain, but there is none. County government people also said grain prices are the same in all nearby county cities, which makes them quite worried. It’s probably impossible to gather more grain.

Therefore, Mr. Shi is now focusing on the wheat that needs to be gathered soon, hoping to send people everywhere to gather wheat, but there’s not enough manpower.”

An Jiuyue said.

“Mr. Shi is really… haha, dreaming so beautifully.”

An Jiuyue unreservedly commented on Mr. Shi, saying that with grain prices soaring, this batch of wheat either can’t be gathered as people hear the news and want to stockpile for the future.

Or, it’s bought up by grain merchants at higher prices, allowing them a bigger profit.

“Come.”

Qian Jiyun’s face was sullen as he called in a secret guard.

“Greetings, Prince, Princess Consort, Princess of the Third Rank.”

The secret guard entered and knelt before them.

“Rise.”

Qian Jiyun had him rise and directly gave orders.

“Investigate who’s behind these grain merchants.”

He believed, without support, ordinary grain merchants wouldn’t dare oppose the authorities, at least not openly.

However, listening to An Jiuyue’s words, it seemed these grain merchants were beyond the control of the authorities.

Evidently, there must be someone backing them.

“Yes, Prince.”

The secret guard took the order and swiftly left.
