Raising My Children With My Personal Spatial Ability

Chapter 2194: Chapter 2194: Want to Get a Job for Xia Jian

“How is this possible?”

The Empress Dowager was the first to find it impossible.

This is the palace, where only guards and eunuchs are present, alongside the Central Emperor. Normal men—there shouldn’t be a single one here.

Xia Jian is just an ordinary commoner. How could he be living in the palace, and for four full years at that?

“What did the Central Emperor do to Xia Jian? Yi Guoshi, tell me.” She knew this matter wasn’t simple and turned her gaze toward Yi Guoshi.

“Xia Jian was brought back by His Majesty four years ago and was subjected to palace castration. Since then, he has resided in the palace, dedicated to caring for the four princes who are shunned by His Majesty.”

Yi Guoshi explained.

Truth be told, even he was merely speculating about this incident.

“I can only make some conjectures. Two months ago, I saw Xia Jian in the harem, holding a child of four or five years old. That child happens to be one among the four royal children we saw today.”

“This… This… This beast!”

Once again, the Empress Dowager cursed the Central Emperor. That beast truly isn’t human—such cruel and heinous acts, he commits without hesitation!

And indeed, in his eyes, Xia Jian is simply a mere grass-roots civilian. The fact that he didn’t kill him outright is probably as much mercy as he’s capable of. What does cutting off his descendants matter in comparison?

If she had known earlier how vicious that beast was, she would have gone up and kicked him a few times herself!

“I suspect Xia Jian is profoundly knowledgeable. After four years of caring for the young princes, their temperament should be quite remarkable.” Yi Guoshi added.

Truth be told, having Xia Jian as their mentor is indeed a blessing for those four children.

But for Xia Jian himself, what kind of agony must he be living in? In the past, he couldn’t intervene in these matters. Now, with the imminent collapse of the Central Emperor’s forces, these matters are bound to surface.

Upon hearing this, the Empress Dowager was rendered speechless.

She also found Xia Jian quite pitiable. But what could she say? Without Xia Jian, perhaps not a single one of her grandsons might have the qualities of a true Emperor she desired.

She was still troubled by this matter.

In the current situation, this was the best possible outcome. All she needed was to choose the most virtuous one among the four children—that would suffice.

“Go and give the order to bring Xia Jian here as well.”

As someone so capable, no matter his identity, he ought to be put to use.

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

The palace maid received the command and withdrew.

“Mother, do you intend to arrange a position for Xia Jian?” the Ninth Prince asked.

“Shouldn’t I?”

The Empress Dowager retorted. Simply based on Xia Jian’s Theory of Light Taxation from four years ago, he was deserving of being heavily relied upon.

It’s just that they were late by so many years, subjecting him to so much suffering. Truly, the royal family was to blame for failing such a talent. She wondered whether righting this wrong now was still possible.

“Indeed.”

The Ninth Prince nodded but considered another layer to the matter.

“Though I know Mother wishes to make amends to Xia Jian, this matter still depends on his own consent. If he is unwilling, we shouldn’t force him.”

He thought that, after everything Xia Jian had endured, if it were him, he likely wouldn’t want to remain in the capital—this place brimming with sorrow.

“Of course, I—this old woman—understand.”

How could the Empress Dowager not know? Everything would depend on whether Xia Jian was willing.

Still, seeing how Xia Jian managed to educate the four young princes well, she believed his character was one of true resilience. After all, these four young princes are the offspring of Xia Jian’s mortal enemies!

…

Before long, the four princes were sent over. Accompanying them was Xia Jian.
