Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 920: Chapter 963: What Kind of Man?

”A man, what kind of man? How old?” Upon hearing Aunt Qing’s words, the first person that came to Ye Anxin’s mind was Ye Shan!

However, hadn’t Ye Shan already been crippled by Uncle and thrown into the Huangpu River? Even if he managed to survive, wouldn’t he be disabled? How could he find Mother unharmed?

But aside from Ye Shan, she really couldn’t think of anyone else.

Aunt Qing quickly replied, ”He seemed to be over fifty years old, dressed very decently, with a bit of gray hair at the temples. Though he had some wrinkles due to his age, he still looked quite handsome!”

”Dressed decently? Gray at the temples? Over fifty?” Following Aunt Qing’s description, Nan Mingchuan’s image gradually appeared in Ye Anxin’s mind!

So all the features matched! But hadn’t Father gone abroad with Xue Rong? Wasn’t he supposed to never return for the rest of his life? How come he suddenly came back?

”I heard Madame call him Nan Mingchuan... yes, Nan Mingchuan...!” Because this surname is quite rare, Aunt Qing remembered it especially clearly.

Hearing Aunt Qing’s words, Ye Anxin immediately confirmed her suspicion and anxiously asked, ”Do you know where they went?”

Aunt Qing honestly said, ”I don’t know! I was afraid something would happen to Madam, so I called you!”

”Aunt Qing, stay at home and don’t go out. I’m heading over right now. If my mom comes back, keep a good watch over her and don’t let her leave alone again!” After saying that and waiting for Aunt Qing to nod in agreement on the other end of the line, Ye Anxin hung up, gave the housekeeper a few instructions, then went upstairs to change, grabbed her bag, and went out.

When Ye Anxin arrived, her mother was already back. She sat on the sofa in a daze, her face a bit pale, eyes unfocused, lost in her thoughts, not even noticing Ye Anxin’s arrival!

Seeing Ye Anxin come in, Aunt Qing quickly gave her a look and pointed towards Ye’s mother.

Ye Anxin nodded at Aunt Qing, who then went off to busy herself!

Ye Anxin walked over to the sofa, sat down next to her mother, and placed her mother’s hand onto her lap.

At the moment Ye Anxin’s hand grasped her own, her mother finally realized Ye Anxin had somehow sat beside her and forced a smile, ”Anxin, why are you here today? When did you arrive? I didn’t even know.”

Ye Anxin got straight to the point, ”Mom, has Nan Mingchuan come looking for you again?”

”How... how do you know? Did Aunt Qing tell you?” Upon hearing Nan Mingchuan’s name, Ye’s mother was clearly stunned and her emotions became somewhat agitated.

Afraid her mother would misunderstand Aunt Qing, Ye Anxin quickly explained, ”Mom, don’t blame Aunt Qing. I instructed her; if anything happened, she was to call me immediately! Besides, such a big deal as you being taken by a man, how could she dare hide it from me? What if something happened to you?”

Ye’s mother said nothing, just sighed helplessly, ”I know you care about me! But... but...!” At this point, Ye’s mother didn’t know how to continue speaking!

After all, this matter was too complicated for her to handle.

Ye Anxin patiently asked, ”Mom, what did Nan Mingchuan want with you?”

Because Ye Anxin had kept the fact Nan Mingchuan went abroad with Xue Rong from her mother, her mother had never known Nan Mingchuan was no longer in China!

He had clearly gone abroad and said he would never come back, so why did he suddenly return? If Nan Mingchuan is back, what about Xue Rong?

Ye’s mother’s eyes flickered twice, and she said guiltily, ”Nothing... nothing...!”

”Mom, I’m your daughter; shouldn’t you tell me everything? Is he back to reconcile with you?” Besides that, Ye Anxin couldn’t think of any other reason!

Ye’s mother always loved him, she couldn’t deny it! However, Xue Rong stood between them. As long as Nan Mingchuan didn’t divorce Xue Rong, their relationship could never be legitimate, and her mother would always bear the shame of being a third party!

If Nan Mingchuan truly loved her mother, he should resolve all her worries, handle Xue Rong first, and then seek out her mother!

This was her belief, one that had never changed!

Noticing Ye Anxin had guessed it, Ye’s mother anxiously explained, ”Rest assured, I didn’t agree to him! I know he and I are impossible! I can’t hurt Dae. Especially since this time Dae even offered to step aside to fulfill us! I can never do anything to hurt her knowing how good she has been to me!”

Ye Anxin was taken aback and asked with a frown, ”Step aside voluntarily?”

Ye’s mother gritted her teeth and after hesitating for a moment, nodded slightly, ”Yes! Nan Mingchuan came back this time to tell me that it was Xue Rong who let him return, saying she was willing to let go and wanted to fulfill me and Nan Mingchuan! She hoped we could be together!”

”Did she really say that?” Ye Anxin was in disbelief, widening her eyes. No matter what, she couldn’t believe Xue Rong could say something so selfless!

To actually sacrifice herself, fulfilling her husband’s desires with another woman!

Ye’s mother shook her head, lost in thought, ”I don’t know; that’s what Nan Mingchuan told me! Whether it’s true or not, I can’t be with him. I don’t wish to betray Dae, I can’t be the third party!”

Ye Anxin said, ”Mom, you did the right thing! Never be the third party! However, if Xue Rong really did choose to step aside, the situation becomes different! Did you seek dad out to clarify what’s truly going on?”

”No! When he wanted to speak, I didn’t let him!” Due to Nan Mingchuan’s sudden appearance, her mind was disturbed! So when he tried to explain, she excitedly covered her ears, refusing to listen!

Thus, they ended up not parting on good terms, and Nan Mingchuan had no chance to say anything! She, too, lacked the mood to continue listening!

Fearing if she listened, she might find herself unable to resist and fall once more!

She must keep herself calm, never waver.

”Sigh...!” Even if Ye’s mother didn’t express it, Ye Anxin could almost envision the scene of her parents’ conversation!

Though Mother had a soft personality, she could be quite stubborn at times! Coupled with the repeated deception and hurt from Ye Shan, her resistance toward men was understandable!

So, even if Mother deeply loved Father, she was afraid it would be difficult for her to bravely take this step forward.
