Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 359: Chapter 359: Disheartened and Discouraged

”Anyway, it’s up to you! If you want a lively atmosphere, we’ll invite all our friends and relatives for a big celebration! If you don’t want to, that’s fine too!” After going through so much, Mu Huajian’s sharp edge had considerably dulled! He also realized that many things couldn’t be forced! Each generation has its own blessings; their matters should be left to them! After all, he’s already old and can’t manage everything!

”It’s all up to Uncle, whatever he decides, we’ll do!” Even as she said this, Ye Anxin was almost certain that Uncle wouldn’t organize anything grand!

Having been with Uncle for so long, she understood his aversion to crowds and noise!

”Alright! It’s all up to you!” Mu Huajian nodded, then started a casual conversation with Ye Anxin!

After some interaction and chatting, Mu Huajian’s impression of Ye Anxin improved significantly!

At least, he realized Ye Anxin wasn’t as he had initially thought, marrying his son for wealth and riches!

Ye Anxin was a good woman, the only one suitable for his son!

Only a woman of Ye Anxin’s character could stay with his son for life!

Mu Huajian and Ye Anxin talked throughout the time, while Mu Beiting sat aside, without uttering a word!

They didn’t know how long they chatted until the butler announced that the meal was ready, prompting everyone to gather around the dining table!

Mu Huajian glanced at the spot where Mu Rufeng often sat and told the butler, ”Butler, go and call Rufeng down!”

”Dad, I’ll go! The butler might not be able to get him to move!” Mu Mother stood up and left without waiting for Mu Huajian to respond!

It was only then that Ye Anxin remembered Mu Rufeng, incredulously asking, ”Has Rufeng been at home this whole time?”

”Yes! Ever since he got out of prison, he’s locked himself in his room! He doesn’t even go out to find work, and the servants have to bring his meals to his room! Sigh... His father died early, leaving him as the only son! If he continues like this, he’ll be completely ruined!” Mu Huajian shook his head, a mix of helplessness and sadness in his eyes!

In the past, he doted on this grandson so much, treating him as a precious gem!

Back then, it was because of this excessive pampering that all pressures of the Mu Family and the Mu Group fell onto Mu Beiting’s shoulders!

He always knew that strict teachers produce great students, but he could never be strict with this grandson!

Initially, he wanted Mu Beiting to take over the Mu Group, thinking that Mu Beiting would manage it well and then pass on a stable, worry-free business to this grandson!

But never did he imagine that the son he once disliked and merely saw as a stepping stone for his grandson would achieve what he did today!

Meanwhile, the grandson he had high hopes for turned out to be utterly incompetent, like a useless lump of clay!

Now, he felt utterly disappointed in this grandson! But for Mu Beiting, his son, he gradually began to feel affection!

”How did he end up like this?” After hearing Mu Huajian’s words, Ye Anxin found herself unable to describe her feelings!

Once, the Mu Rufeng she knew was charming, humorous, sunny, and handsome! At their school, he was known for his good temper, good looks, and was everyone’s heartthrob!

Who would’ve thought that in just over a year, he would change so drastically!

Mu Huajian said bitterly, ”Perhaps I protected him too well in the past, making him emotionally fragile and unable to withstand any stress! Whenever he’s faced with pressure, he shuts himself off! Had I known he would turn out this way, I would’ve disciplined him and trained him well back then!”

Ye Anxin sighed inwardly and advised, ”Sir, don’t be too upset, he’s a grown man, and by now he should know not to be so careless in life! He should have the responsibility and duty of a man! If he can’t handle a bit of adversity, then he’s lived for nothing all these years!”

Just as she finished speaking, the hand placed on the table was suddenly covered!

Startled, Ye Anxin looked up along the hand to see its owner!

She saw Mu Beiting staring at her with a dark expression, seemingly very angry!

Ye Anxin quickly asked, ”Uncle, what’s wrong?”

Mu Beiting imperiously said, ”Don’t mention any man in front of me! Especially Mu Rufeng!”

Seeing his intensely jealous face, Ye Anxin couldn’t help but burst out laughing!

Watching her smile, Mu Beiting’s handsome face turned a slight shade of red.

”Uncle, you’re really petty!” Ye Anxin shot Mu Beiting a look, watching as his face turned even redder, and she tried hard to suppress her laughter and refrained from mentioning Mu Rufeng again.

Mu Huajian sat at the head of the table, seeing the interaction between Mu Beiting and Ye Anxin, he felt a wave of relief!

Finally, he saw his son finding happiness!

With Ye Anxin by his side, he believed his son would never be lonely again!

On the other side, upstairs in the room!

After leaving the dining room, Mu Mother arrived outside Mu Rufeng’s room!

After knocking a few times with no response, Mu Mother directly used the spare key to unlock the door and enter!

The room was pitch black, with not even a sliver of light visible!

Mu Mother frowned deeply, angrily striding over to the window and yanking open the curtain!

As soon as the curtain was pulled open, harsh sunlight streamed in, causing Mu Rufeng, who had been lying in bed, to immediately cover his eyes uncomfortably!

Mu Rufeng turned sideways, curling his tall frame into a ball, shouting without opening his eyes, ”Who opened the window, close it, close it!”

Mu Mother walked over, grabbed his clothes, and forcefully turned him to face her, angrily shouting, ”Sleep, sleep, sleep! You’ve done nothing but sleep since you got out of prison! Mu Rufeng, do you intend to spend the rest of your life like this?”

Mu Rufeng sneered with his eyes still closed, ”What’s wrong with that? It’s great! No noise, no bother, living comfortably all your life!”

Mu Mother’s faced showed signs of deep sorrow, and in heartbreak she said, ”You... you’re such a disappointment! You’re my only son, my only hope in life! If you continue to waste away like this, what should I do? Who will I rely on for the rest of my life?”

Upon hearing this, Mu Rufeng slowly opened his eyes, squinting slightly as they adjusted to the bright light, and with a half-smile, casually said, ”While you’re still young, quickly find another man and have another child!”

”Pa...!” A crisp slap echoed as Mu Mother, breathing heavily in fury, gave Mu Rufeng a hard slap across the face!

Mu Rufeng touched the cheek that was slapped, smirked, and then continued to close his eyes and sleep!

Watching Mu Rufeng’s indifferent attitude, Mu Mother sat on the bed, her spirit exhausted, and said feebly, ”Ye Anxin has come, she’s downstairs now!”
