Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 260: Chapter 260: Not Needed

Mu Beiting gently pushed the door open and came in, seeing Ling Yueyue holding a warm towel to wipe Ye Anxin’s hands and face. His eyes flickered lightly, his throat moved slightly, and he walked over, saying, ”You can go home!”

Ling Yueyue shook her head, ”I want to stay here and take care of Anxin! This has been a huge blow to her! I’m afraid she might not hold up! If I stay here, I can at least comfort her!”

Mu Beiting glanced at her, remained silent for a while, and then stopped speaking.

Mu Beiting’s silence indicated to Ling Yueyue that he had tacitly agreed! She then continued to use the warm towel to wipe Ye Anxin’s hands and face.

After wiping, she covered her with the quilt, poured out the water, and then, after some thought, sat down beside Mu Beiting.

Ye Anxin said in a negotiating tone, ”Auntie is very worried about Anxin. Could you let her come and see Anxin?”

Mu Beiting remained indifferent.

Seeing Mu Beiting silent, Ling Yueyue continued, ”I know this matter started because of Uncle and Auntie, and Auntie has told me everything! But Auntie is innocent. She didn’t know Anxin was pregnant; none of you ever told her! Besides, she didn’t expect things would escalate to such a terrible extent! Auntie now regrets this more than any of us! She’s feeling the pain of her daughter lying on a hospital bed, yet unable to care for her! Please, for Anxin’s sake, let Auntie come and see her for a moment!”

Upon hearing this, Mu Beiting furrowed his brow tightly, ”Say one more word and get out!”

Ling Yueyue was furious. If she weren’t familiar with Mu Beiting’s character and aware that it’s not suitable to argue with a patient in the room, she surely would have confronted him head-on.

Ling Yueyue suppressed the anger in her heart, speaking patiently in a gentle tone, ”Why are you so unreasonable? Auntie is Anxin’s biological mother. If Auntie was beside her, she could comfort her when Anxin wakes up! Can you, can you comfort Anxin? Can you guide her? I’m doing this all for Anxin’s sake!”

Mu Beiting pursed his thin lips tightly, staying silent.

Seeing that Mu Beiting remained silent, Ling Yueyue sighed helplessly, ”I’ve said everything, whether you agree or not is up to you! Anyway, this is your territory, and if you don’t agree, I can’t do anything to you!”

Mu Beiting sat by the bedside, quietly watching the sleeping Ye Anxin, his eyes deep and unreadable.

Time gradually slipped away as Mu Beiting and Ling Yueyue kept watch over the whole night.

It wasn’t until the next morning that Ye Anxin slowly woke up.

This time, it was different from the last; when Ye Anxin woke up, she didn’t cry or fuss. She just lay quietly in bed, with her hand on her stomach, staring blankly at the ceiling, lost in thought.

Mu Beiting sat on the edge of the bed, cautiously calling out, ”Anxin!”

Ye Anxin didn’t react at all.

Mu Beiting exchanged a glance with Ling Yueyue, and Ling Yueyue also called out, ”Anxin... Anxin...!”

Ye Anxin still didn’t react, her eyes blankly staring ahead.

Seeing that Ye Anxin remained unresponsive, Ling Yueyue got anxious and gently pushed Ye Anxin’s shoulder, ”Anxin, don’t scare me! I’m Yueyue! Your Elder Uncle is also here beside you! Please say something!”

Ye Anxin continued to be unresponsive, as if she were a wooden doll.

Ling Yueyue sat on the edge of the bed opposite Mu Beiting, grabbed Ye Anxin’s hand, and said in a choked voice, ”Anxin, I know you’re heartbroken and can’t accept this. But it’s an unchangeable reality, do you know how sad it is for the people who care about you to see you like this?”

After a while, Ye Anxin suddenly spoke, ”Could you please leave? I want to be alone for a while!”

Ling Yueyue and Mu Beiting exchanged a glance, and Ling Yueyue hesitantly said, ”Anxin!”

Ye Anxin didn’t look at them, speaking firmly, ”Please go, I want some peace and quiet!”

Ling Yueyue sighed helplessly, stood up to leave, and seeing Mu Beiting unmoving, seemingly with no intention of leaving, she said, ”Mu Beiting, let’s go! Let’s give her some time to be alone! At this moment, staying here won’t help her!”

Mu Beiting remained silent, his deep gaze fixed on Ye Anxin on the hospital bed.

Seeing that he was ignoring her, Ling Yueyue patiently added, ”Let’s leave! Your presence here doesn’t help her! If you want her to recover quickly, leaving her alone to calm down is best!”

Upon hearing this, Mu Beiting remained silent for a while before finally standing up, taking a deep look at Ye Anxin, and then turning to leave the room.

The two left the ward together, and Mu Beiting leaned his tall body against the wall, lowering one leg, drawing a cigarette from his pocket, lighting it, and taking a deep drag.

Ling Yueyue sat on a chair in the hallway, glancing at Mu Beiting, with the urge to tell him to stop smoking.

Suddenly recalling the situation at hand, she opened her mouth but then closed it again.

At this moment, Mu Beiting’s heart was restless, perhaps only smoking could alleviate his inner turmoil and distress.

In this special circumstance, she could only turn a blind eye.

Halfway through the smoke, Ling Yueyue suddenly spoke, ”I think this matter is not simple! It’s too coincidental, too strange! Someone definitely intended to harm the child in Anxin’s belly!”

Mu Beiting remained indifferent, inhaling deeply again.

Although Mu Beiting said nothing, Ling Yueyue knew he was listening to her. So she continued, ”Last time at the autumn sports meet, someone deliberately pushed Anxin among the crowd, and in front of us was a high railing, several meters tall. If we had fallen, either death or serious injury was inevitable! Back then, I was holding hands with Anxin, and I could clearly feel that the force wasn’t just a careless bump! If someone hadn’t saved us then, the child in Anxin’s belly could have been lost!”

As Ling Yueyue finished speaking, Mu Beiting happened to finish his cigarette, and he extinguished the butt with his fingers.

Watching his movements, Ling Yueyue resumed, ”Previously, I asked Auntie; Uncle’s gambling addiction timeline coincides with the autumn sports meet! I can assure you, someone observed that the previous plan failed, so they devised another plan! Their aim has always been to meticulously harm the child in Anxin’s belly!”

Mu Beiting threw the cigarette butt on the ground, and pulled out another one.

Seeing Mu Beiting surrounded by smoke, the smoke smell growing increasingly intense, Ling Yueyue couldn’t help but cover her nose, ”I’ve said so much, and this is your reaction? Someone deliberately wants to harm your child and you have no response?”

Mu Beiting remained indifferent, the number of cigarette butts at his feet increasing.

Looking at the cigarette butts all over the place, Ling Yueyue stood up, furious, ”If you won’t investigate, then I will! Somehow, I will definitely catch the culprit and get justice for Anxin! Otherwise, it undermines our decade-long sisterhood!”

Finally, Mu Beiting spoke, ”There’s no need!”
