Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 269: Chapter 269: Just Joking!

Autumn passes and winter comes; Ye Anxin welcomes the first heavy snow since marrying Mu Beiting.

Ye Anxin stands beside the floor-to-ceiling window of the president’s office in the Mu Building, staring at the snowy scene outside in a daze.

Mu Beiting finishes his work, stands up, and slowly walks behind her, wrapping his arms around her slender waist, resting his chin habitually on her shoulder.

Ye Anxin doesn’t turn around and asks softly, ”Beiting, do you like snow?”

Without thinking, Mu Beiting directly responds, ”I don’t like it!”

Ye Anxin turns her head, curiously asking, ”Why?”

Mu Beiting replies blandly, ”No reason, I just don’t like it!”

Ye Anxin pouts and playfully remarks, ”Not romantic at all!”

”...?” Mu Beiting’s arms unconsciously tighten around her waist.

Ye Anxin continues talking to herself, ”Uncle, don’t you think eating hot pot, having snowball fights, and building snowmen when it snows is very romantic?”

”...!” Mu Beiting purses his thin lips, still not answering.

Ye Anxin muses, ”I’ve been with Uncle for so long, but I haven’t taken a single photo with him!”

Mu Beiting replies matter-of-factly, ”I don’t like taking pictures!”

Ye Anxin sighs, helplessly saying, ”Sigh! Forget it! To someone like Uncle, who doesn’t have a romantic bone, it’s pointless to talk about it!”

After speaking, the office suddenly becomes quiet.

”Pfft!” Ye Anxin knows that Mu Beiting must have taken her words seriously! She can’t help but laugh, turning around to lightly bump her forehead against his, smiling as she says, ”I was just joking! Uncle, you didn’t take it seriously, did you?”

Mu Beiting gazes at her intently without saying anything.

Under his gaze, Ye Anxin feels uncomfortable all over and can’t help but push against his tall body, ”Oh, come on, Uncle, don’t mind me. You go back to work! I’m fine enjoying the snow scene here! Look at how beautiful it is!”

”Hmm! If you need anything, just speak up!” Mu Beiting nods, gives her a serious look, releases her, and returns to his desk to resume work.

Ye Anxin shakes her head helplessly and continues to stand by the window looking at the snow.

Mu Beiting glances at some documents, then turns to glance at Ye Anxin again. His eyes flicker; after a moment of contemplation, he stands up and walks into the office’s resting room, closing the door, taking out his mobile phone, and dialing Yan Qinghan’s number.

After a few rings, the call is quickly connected, and Yan Qinghan’s teasing voice comes from the other end, ”Yo, what wind blew your call my way? Isn’t it winter? I haven’t seen the sun, so it can’t be rising from the west!”

Mu Beiting furrows his brow, impatiently says, ”Shut up!”

Yan Qinghan pouts disdainfully, letting out a cold snort, ”Tch, calling me and still so impatient! What a bad temper!”

Mu Beiting doesn’t want to waste time on him, directly asking, ”I’m asking you, what is romance?”

As soon as he finishes speaking, a burst of unrestrained laughter erupts from the other end of the line, ”Romance? Haha... Mu Beiting, you’re so learned and well-read but you don’t know what romance is! Haha... Are you trying to make me die laughing?”

Mocked so openly, a suspicious blush creeps onto Mu Beiting’s handsome face, his eyes flicker with awkwardness, and through gritted teeth, he squeezes out six words, ”Shut up if you don’t want to die!”

”Haha, no, it’s just too funny. I’m laughing so hard my tears are coming out! Mu Beiting, did you know I was in a bad mood today and specifically called to cheer me up? Haha... Haha...!” Yan Qinghan not only doesn’t stop laughing but laughs even harder.

”Three, two, ...!” Just a word hasn’t been finished when Yan Qinghan on the other end immediately stops laughing.

Though occasionally, the sound of him stifling laughter still comes through the phone, Mu Beiting can’t be bothered to argue, coldly says, ”Just say it!”

”Hey, that’s not how you ask for a favor, is it? Don’t always act like I owe you tens of thousands! Come on, say something nice, and maybe if I’m in a good mood, I’ll tell you!” Although Yan Qinghan is no longer laughing out loud, he still doesn’t plan to let Mu Beiting off easily.

After all these years, this is the first time Mu Beiting has asked him for a favor!

He has to make sure to tease him properly! Otherwise, it would be such a wasted opportunity.

Mu Beiting grits his teeth, ”Are you going to tell me or not?”

Yan Qinghan, with his head held high and full of confidence, says, ”Beg me!”

Without hesitation, Mu Beiting directly hangs up the phone.

Listening to the busy tone from the other end, Yan Qinghan is stunned.

Wha... what’s going on?

Wasn’t this guy specifically asking for his help for his little sister-in-law? How can he not even take a joke?

Hmph!

He doesn’t believe it, that he won’t call again!

He’s just waiting! Next time, he must ’shame’ him hard! Hmph! Daring to hang up on him, he’s going to make him suffer.

With this in mind, Yan Qinghan’s mood instantly becomes very pleasant.

To be the first to answer Mu Beiting’s call, he even deliberately places the phone on his desk!

But——

Two hours passed and the phone remained silent!

And then——another hour passed——

Yan Qinghan tilts his head, looking at the phone on the desk.

That guy Mu Beiting, could he really be angry?

Otherwise, why hasn’t he called after three hours?

Just as Yan Qinghan’s patience runs out and he contemplates whether to call Mu Beiting himself, the phone on the desk finally rings.

Yan Qinghan almost doesn’t hesitate at all, not even glancing at the caller ID, and directly picks up the call.

However, when he hears the content on the call, his face instantly changes.

After hanging up the call, he angrily dials Mu Beiting’s number, and this time, the call is answered immediately.

In the past, no matter when he called Mu Beiting, it was usually unanswered, since Mu Beiting knew that all Mu Group’s important matters were communicated through Pete! And his direct calls were basically trivial, so Mu Beiting never answered.

But this time, surprisingly, it got answered! And it was picked up in a flash, almost before it even rang for half a second.

Thinking of this, Yan Qinghan’s anger rises further, not waiting for Mu Beiting to speak, he directly questions angrily, ”Mu Beiting, I ask you, where did you hide her?”

Mu Beiting remains unhurried, calmly saying, ”Answer my question!”

Still fuming, Yan Qinghan snaps, ”Mu Beiting, this isn’t fair! I just joked with you, is it necessary? Going to such lengths to hide her!”

”I, Mu Beiting, never joke!” Mu Beiting decisively throws out this line, instantly choking Yan Qinghan into silence for a long while.
