Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 261: Chapter 261: The Person Behind the Scenes

Ling Yueyue widened her eyes and asked incredulously, ”Why? Knowing that someone wants to deliberately harm Anxin, why not investigate clearly? Are you giving her another chance to harm Anxin?”

Mu Beiting said indifferently, ”The child is already gone!”

”So?” Hearing Mu Beiting’s abrupt words, Ling Yueyue blinked in confusion.

Mu Beiting said, ”This is not something you need to get involved in!”

Ling Yueyue countered, ”If I don’t get involved, will you investigate?”

Mu Beiting pressed his lips together and remained silent.

Ling Yueyue stared at Mu Beiting’s handsome profile for a long time before finally saying, ”Fine, I won’t interfere. You are Anxin’s husband, so this matter should be handled by you! If I interfere, it would seem like I’m overstepping. However, you must give Anxin an answer; you absolutely cannot let the culprit escape justice!”

Mu Beiting lit another cigarette but still did not respond.

Seeing Mu Beiting’s persistent silence, Ling Yueyue said helplessly, ”Mu Beiting, sometimes, I really can’t figure out what you’re thinking. Why don’t you express yourself and instead keep everything bottled up inside? You know, people around you will feel exhausted by your silence! If it were me instead of Anxin, I would have kicked you away long ago!”

Upon hearing this, Mu Beiting slightly furrowed his brows, and finally, a hint of expression appeared on his otherwise unchanged face.

Noticing his slight change in expression, Ling Yueyue finally felt relieved.

Mu Beiting’s reaction to this indicated that he did care about Anxin, didn’t it?

Since he cares, he will certainly give Anxin and their child an explanation!

Mu Beiting has more power and wealth than she does; if he truly wants to investigate, he will certainly find out who is behind it.

With this thought, Ling Yueyue decided not to dwell on the matter any further.

The corridor fell into an eerie silence for a while.

Suddenly, a commotion was heard from outside the door at the end of the corridor.

Immediately afterward, the door was pushed open, and a bodyguard stationed outside ran inside, awkwardly saying, ”President, it’s Madam’s mother; she is insisting on coming in to see Madam, and no matter what, she won’t leave!”

Without lifting his head, Mu Beiting said directly, ”If she won’t leave, then you leave!”

The implication was to have Ye’s mother immediately disappear from there.

”Yes!” The bodyguard nodded, turned around to leave, but was stopped by Ling Yueyue, ”Wait!”

The bodyguard paused and looked at Ling Yueyue.

Ling Yueyue turned her eyes to Mu Beiting and explained, ”Mu Beiting, if you really love Anxin, please don’t treat her relatives like this! Although Auntie has some responsibility for this, she is also a victim! If Anxin finds out you treated her mother this way, she would be heartbroken! She has already lost her child, don’t let her lose her only relative too! She would collapse then!”

”...!” Mu Beiting looked down, silent.

The bodyguard glanced at Mu Beiting, then at Ling Yueyue, unsure of what to do for a moment!

Meanwhile, the noise outside grew louder!

After a while, Mu Beiting finally spoke, ”Let her in!”

”Yes!” The bodyguard obeyed and quickly left, and shortly after, Ye’s mother ran over from the end of the corridor.

Ye’s mother was also injured, with medicine applied to her body and her hand wrapped in bandages.

Ye’s mother ran over, ready to rush into the ward directly, but was stopped by Ling Yueyue.

Ye’s mother grabbed Ling Yueyue’s arm, anxiously asking, ”Yueyue, how is Anxin? How is she now? I want to go in and see her!”

Ling Yueyue quickly explained, ”Auntie, Anxin’s condition is very unstable now; she said she wants some peace! Please don’t go in and disturb her; let her have some quiet time! Give her some time!”

”Wuwu...!” Ye’s mother sobbed uncontrollably, ”I’m sorry, I’m sorry! This is my fault; I didn’t know she was pregnant, I really didn’t know she was pregnant! If I had known, I would never have called her! Losing the house doesn’t matter; nothing is more important than her and the child! We’ve been through similar situations before without any issues! I’m so sorry, wuwu...!”

Ye’s mother collapsed in Ling Yueyue’s arms, crying her heart out.

Remembering the day Mu Beiting left with her daughter covered in blood made her heart wrench with pain.

These past few days, she had been living with guilt and remorse!

If she hadn’t called Anxin, that incident wouldn’t have happened!

For over twenty years, this is how they lived; they’ve faced many such situations and nothing like this had ever happened! She didn’t anticipate things would become so severe!

If she had known Anxin was pregnant, she would never have made that call.

Ling Yueyue gently patted Ye’s mother’s back, softly comforting, ”Auntie, it’s not your fault, don’t be sad! This was an accident, something no one wanted!”

Ye’s mother shook her head desperately, ”Wuwu... No... no... no...! It’s my fault, all my fault! I married the wrong man; if not for that, Anxin wouldn’t have suffered this tragedy; I didn’t choose a good father for her!”

Ling Yueyue chuckled, ”Auntie, what silly things are you saying? Without Uncle, there would be no Anxin; fathers aren’t something we can choose!”

Upon hearing this, Ye’s mother, who was leaning against Ling Yueyue, froze slightly, suddenly realizing she almost said something she shouldn’t have.

”Okay, stop crying! If Anxin hears this, she would be even more upset!” Ling Yueyue assumed Ye’s mother had calmed down and quickly took out tissues to wipe her tears.

Ye’s mother dared not cry anymore, suppressing her sorrow and swallowing all her sobs.

Ye’s mother wiped her tears while asking, ”Yueyue, how is Anxin now? After such an incident, she surely can’t accept it, can she?”

Since the day Ye Anxin was admitted to the hospital, she had wanted to be by her side!

But Mu Beiting wouldn’t forgive her, having people guard the outside so she couldn’t get in and had to worry outside.

Now, finally able to enter, her mind was filled with thoughts about her daughter’s condition.

Prompted by Ye’s mother’s question, Ling Yueyue’s eyes dimmed, her teeth clenched on her lower lip, and she nodded with difficulty.

”It was my fault!” Saying this, she couldn’t help but start crying again.

Mu Beiting, with a cigarette between his fingers, frowned tighter and tighter. After Ye’s mother started crying again, he finally spoke coldly, ”If you keep crying, leave!”

Intimidated by Mu Beiting’s threat, Ye’s mother indeed stopped crying.

She had always felt a sense of fear towards Mu Beiting! She didn’t know why, but seeing him always made her speechless, overwhelmed by his aura.

Sometimes she wondered, with a man like this, how exactly does her daughter get along with him?

Ling Yueyue continued to wipe Ye’s mother’s tears, comforting her, ”Auntie, don’t cry! We’ll stay outside, and once Anxin has had some time to process everything, she will let us in!”
