Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 276: Chapter 276: How Did He Spend These Thirty Years?

On this day, Mu Beiting was still locked in the study handling business affairs, and Ye Anxin, as usual, obediently stayed by his side, occasionally making him a couple of coffees.

Seizing the moment when Mu Beiting drank his coffee, Ye Anxin lay on the desk and said with a smile, ”Uncle, there are only a few days left until the New Year, and I want to go out and buy some holiday goods!”

Mu Beiting, without even lifting his head, flatly denied, ”No need!”

Ye Anxin asked puzzled, ”Why? Without some holiday goods at home, there’s no New Year’s atmosphere!”

Mu Beiting simply responded again with three words, ”Not necessary!”

Ye Anxin said gently, ”For a long time, I’ve seen others starting to prepare for the New Year! Every time I sit in the car accompanying Uncle to the company, I see pedestrians on the road carrying New Year goods in their hands! We have so many servants in our house, and they don’t get holidays during the New Year, so why not celebrate it together?”

This time, Mu Beiting finally looked up at her and said seriously, ”I never celebrate the New Year!”

”...!” Ye Anxin blinked in confusion and suddenly realized, ”Oh! I forgot, Uncle grew up abroad, and you celebrate Christmas! Oh my gosh, I actually forgot such an important matter! I’m sorry, Uncle. My mom is quite traditional and never celebrates Western holidays. Being influenced by her for so long made me indifferent to Western festivals too!”

Mu Beiting looked at Ye Anxin and asked matter-of-factly, ”What is Christmas?”

”...?” This time, Ye Anxin was also at a loss for words due to Mu Beiting’s question.

After a while, she finally said, ”Uncle, you grew up in the West, how can you not know about Christmas? Christmas is the Western New Year!”

”I never celebrate such boring holidays, it’s a waste of time!” After speaking, Mu Beiting lowered his head again and resumed handling business affairs.

Ye Anxin stood by the desk, looking at Mu Beiting with pity and feeling a mix of emotions in her heart.

How could Uncle be thirty and never celebrate the New Year?

How did he spend these past thirty years?

Even if he was with the Mu Family after he was ten, the Mu Family didn’t treat him well! So what about before he was ten?

Did he never celebrate the New Year with his biological mother?

Ye Anxin couldn’t figure it out and felt so confused, her nose tingled, and her eyes felt hot, as if something was about to flow out.

Standing by the desk, watching Mu Beiting engrossed in work, Ye Anxin suddenly couldn’t help but reach out and stroke his thick hair.

Since Uncle took over the Mu Corporation, he’s been working day and night like this. His life is nothing but work!

Thinking about Uncle’s monotonous and simple life, Ye Anxin felt very upset, but mostly heartache.

Feeling her touch, Mu Beiting raised his head, unexpectedly meeting her pained and slightly red eyes.

Mu Beiting slightly frowned, put down the pen in his hand, and asked displeasedly, ”Have you been crying?”

Ye Anxin smiled and shook her head, then sat on his lap, wrapped her arms around his neck, and said with a smile, ”Uncle, it’s rare to have a holiday, so don’t stay at home all day! When will you have time to go out and have a walk?”

Mu Beiting naturally encircled her waist and asked in a deep voice, ”Are you bored?”

Ye Anxin craftily rolled her eyes and said with a smile, ”Kind of! This is the first New Year I’m spending with Uncle, and I don’t want to just spend it cooped up at home!”

Mu Beiting asked, ”Where do you want to go?”

Ye Anxin raised her chin, thought seriously, and then said, ”Of course, somewhere crowded!”

”Hmm! Go change your clothes!” Without hesitation, Mu Beiting nodded and agreed, then lifted her from the chair and strode toward the bedroom.

Ye Anxin quickly reminded, ”Remember to wear the trench coat I bought for you, Uncle!”

”Hmm!” Mu Beiting nodded, kicked the door open with one foot, and placed Ye Anxin in front of the wardrobe.

Ye Anxin opened the wardrobe and immediately picked out his outfit for Mu Beiting.

Because it’s winter now and at home, Uncle was wearing regular home clothes, while she was in very thick pajamas.

Ye Anxin handed the picked-out clothes to Mu Beiting, teasingly saying, ”Uncle, do you need me to help you change?”

Mu Beiting glanced at her, his eyes flickering, and agreed without hesitation, ”Sure!”

”Pfft...!” Ye Anxin couldn’t help but laugh, rolled her eyes at him, and teased, ”You really aren’t shy at all!” Saying so, she reached out to help Mu Beiting change his clothes, putting on a moderately thick warm sweater for him, then a dark red mid-length trench coat, and finally wrapping the scarf she had bought around him.

After helping him change clothes, Ye Anxin purposely joked, ”You can change the pants yourself, right? Need any help?”

”I’ll do it myself!” Seeing her teasing smile, a wave of embarrassment washed over Mu Beiting’s handsome face as he snatched the pants from her hands and went straight into the bathroom.

After Mu Beiting went to the bathroom, Ye Anxin quickly rummaged through the wardrobe and changed into her outing outfit.

When Mu Beiting exited the bathroom, Ye Anxin was already fully geared up! She wore a red down jacket, a white scarf, thick warm pants, and let her long hair hang over her shoulders for warmth.

”Uncle, let’s go! I bet the streets are bustling today, definitely crowded!” Ye Anxin said, taking Mu Beiting’s arm and leaving the villa with him, getting into their family business car.

Very soon, Ye Anxin’s words came true.

The streets were bustling, packed with people! Especially in the downtown area, it was impossible to even squeeze through, let alone find a parking spot! Vendors selling New Year goods lined up in front of all major shopping malls!

There was no choice, the driver had to drop them off far away and go find parking on his own, while Mu Beiting and Ye Anxin squeezed their way into the mall.

Mu Beiting held Ye Anxin in his arms, clearing obstacles with every step.

Enjoying Mu Beiting’s attentiveness, Ye Anxin said with a smile, ”So many people! When I went out with Yueyue before, it wasn’t this crowded! Seems like they all knew Uncle was coming out today and wanted to catch a glimpse of Uncle’s charm!”

As soon as she spoke, she sensed Mu Beiting’s cold gaze sweeping over her.

Ye Anxin stuck out her tongue and said sheepishly, ”Hehe, I just wanted to flatter you!”

Mu Beiting didn’t respond to her and walked straight into the mall with her.

Luckily, compared to outside, there were slightly fewer people in the mall.

Although Jin City is a first-tier city with a high standard of living, the goods sold in such large malls have a limited consumer base!

So, compared to the outside stalls, there were still far fewer people inside the mall.

Once inside the mall, Ye Anxin finally breathed a sigh of relief.
