Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 278: Chapter 278: The First New Year

Mu Beiting gave himself a cursory glance in the mirror, pursing his lips without saying anything.

”Let’s go with this one! It’s very beautiful! I have never seen you wear such a bright color before, Uncle!” Ye Anxin made up her mind without hesitation.

Actually, deep red isn’t a particularly bright color!

But compared to Mu Beiting’s usual unchanging black, it actually stood out a lot!

If this color were on her, it would definitely look outdated, but on him, the effect was entirely different.

Mu Beiting remained silent.

”Sales clerk, let’s pay!” Since Mu Beiting didn’t say a word, Ye Anxin took his silence as consent and called over the sales clerk to settle the bill.

”Uncle, change out of that and save it to wear for New Year’s!” After paying, Ye Anxin helped Mu Beiting take off the outfit and put on the dark red trench coat he wore when they arrived.

Mu Beiting wore black leather gloves as he carried the shopping bags, walking arm in arm with Ye Anxin as they continued shopping.

Ye Anxin let out a heavy sigh of relief, ”Finally found something satisfactory! This trip wasn’t in vain!”

Mu Beiting said casually, ”I’ve finished; now it’s your turn!”

”Okay! Let’s check out the women’s clothing store!” Ye Anxin nodded and, together with Mu Beiting, took the elevator straight to the women’s fashion floor.

Ye Anxin’s clothes, compared to Mu Beiting’s, were much simpler.

Ye Anxin’s style was quiet, gentle, and obedient, so as long as the colors weren’t too dull and the design wasn’t too ugly, everything looked good on her.

So Mu Beiting ended up buying her several pieces of clothing in one go.

If Ye Anxin hadn’t stopped him, Mu Beiting would have brought back almost all the clothes from the mall for her.

After finishing their purchases, Ye Anxin didn’t hurry to leave. Instead, she dragged Mu Beiting along to do some New Year shopping.

Seeing all the colorful items, Mu Beiting asked with displeasure, ”Why are we buying all this?”

Ye Anxin answered matter-of-factly, ”To decorate the house! Our home is usually so cold and empty; for New Year, we have to at least put up some couplets and do some small decorations! Otherwise, I’d regret it! After all, this is the first year I’m spending with you, Uncle!”

Hearing that, Mu Beiting furrowed his brow more tightly but didn’t stop her.

Ye Anxin eagerly bought a lot of New Year items, and throughout the process, Mu Beiting remained silent, only responsible for carrying the shopping bags.

Every New Year, Ye Anxin used to shop for New Year items with her mother, so she knew exactly what they needed and soon finished most of the shopping.

Looking at the large bags Mu Beiting was holding, Ye Anxin nodded with satisfaction.

Mu Beiting looked at her and asked gently, ”Are you tired?”

Ye Anxin massaged her somewhat sore waist and pinched her shoulders, ”A little! I’ve either been cooped up at home or at your company lately; my joints have rusted! Just shopping for a while makes me feel exhausted!”

Mu Beiting said, ”Let’s find a place to rest for a bit.”

Ye Anxin looked around, puckered her lips, and said helplessly, ”I wanted us to have a meal before heading back! But with so many people here, the restaurants must be full. Let’s just head home to eat!”

Mu Beiting responded matter-of-factly, ”Where do you want to eat? I can just make a call.”

Ye Anxin shook her head, ”Never mind! It’s tough for everyone shopping out here; let’s just go home! After we eat, I’ll start decorating the house with the butler!”

”Alright!” Mu Beiting nodded, then called the driver to confirm a meeting spot before squeezing out of the store with Ye Anxin and the shopping bags.

After quite some effort, they finally reached their destination.

Once they got into the car, Ye Anxin was exhausted, leaning against Mu Beiting’s shoulder, her entire body limp and powerless.

Ye Anxin said weakly, ”It’s been so long since I shopped like this, and I’m so tired after just half a day! I clearly can’t keep being this lazy; I need to start exercising! Otherwise, I’ll be useless!”

Mu Beiting asked, ”Very tired?”

Ye Anxin nodded, ”Yes! With no exercise for a long time and suddenly shopping for so long, my body needs time to adjust! After some rest in the car, I’ll feel better once we get home!”

Mu Beiting asked again, ”Do you want to take a nap?”

Ye Anxin shook her head firmly, ”No, I’m not sleepy yet! Just a little tired; let me rest against you, Uncle! We have to decorate the house when we get home!”

”Okay!” Since Ye Anxin didn’t want to sleep, Mu Beiting didn’t insist.

From the mall to the villa, it typically took two hours, but due to the crowds and traffic, it took three hours to get home.

Just as Ye Anxin said, with three hours of rest on the way home, she felt noticeably better by the time they arrived at the villa. She was still a bit tired, but it was much better than before.

The butler was already waiting at the villa entrance, and upon seeing them get out, he quickly instructed the servants to help with the shopping bags.

Ye Anxin beamed, ”Butler, come quick, these are the New Year items Uncle and I bought! We need to take them inside and start decorating the house! New Year is just a few days away, and we must hurry!”

”Decorate the house?” With that, the butler instinctively glanced at Mu Beiting.

Having worked at the villa for six years, he didn’t know what celebrating New Year meant. There was no home decoration, not even a New Year’s Eve dinner!

The only hint of New Year was the triple salary they received for a few days, and nothing else gave them a feeling of the holiday. It felt as if they were isolated from the world.

There were times when even Mr. Beiting’s father would come to invite him for New Year’s dinner, only to be ignored.

This year, he actually wants to break the usual pattern?

Ye Anxin nodded and replied matter-of-factly, ”Yes! Couplets, ’Fu’ characters, and so much more; we have to make the house festive! It can’t be cold and lifeless like before, with no warmth!”

”Alright, alright!” The butler agreed wholeheartedly with Ye Anxin’s idea, and more importantly, Mr. Beiting hadn’t objected, which was quite rare!

”In that case, let’s start quickly! It’s getting dark soon, and we can continue tomorrow if it’s not finished!” Thinking of decorating the house, Ye Anxin got instantly excited and rushed inside with the butler, ready to start without even acknowledging Mu Beiting.

Mu Beiting stood at the villa entrance, his brow furrowed tightly.

The first year brought a New Year atmosphere, making the villa servants happy, all beaming with excitement and anticipation. Once they finished their duties, they all eagerly joined in to help.

Some pasted couplets, some decorated with ’Fu’ characters, and others hung lanterns!

Because the villa was so large, it took a long time to paste all the couplets and ’Fu’ characters.

While everyone was busy with gusto, Mu Beiting sat on the sofa in the living room reading a financial newspaper, as if it all had nothing to do with him.
