The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Li Wanping was about to lose her mind.

She and Xiao Zhang had been humiliated tonight, and once they returned home, Li Wanping was so furious she wanted to smash things.

Xiao Zhang was angry too.

While the two were fuming, Xiao Tong returned home.

She entered with a smile: ”Aunt Li, I heard you and my brother have been going through tough times lately. My brother lost the auction to Xia Man, oh dear, why didn’t you mention it earlier? I don’t have much, but I could lend you hundreds of thousands.”

So infuriating.

Li Wanping was as mad as a puffed-up pufferfish.

”Mind your own business.”

”True, it doesn’t concern me. Why am I being so kind-hearted?”

Xiao Tong spread her hands, unable to hide the gleeful smile on her face.

Xiao Zhang looking at her wanted to punch her.

Just then, Xiao Yuan, Anning, Xi Jingchen, and Xia Man all came in together.

The four entered cheerfully, with Xiao Yuan constantly praising Xia Man.

”Manman is so considerate, knowing Grandma and I hadn’t bought suitable rings yet, she remembered to get us rings at the auction.”

Xia Man smiled, supporting Anning with one hand: ”You flatter me. It’s what we juniors should do.”

”Ah.” Xiao Yuan sighed: ”Should or shouldn’t, we’re not without juniors besides you, yet others just don’t seem to remember.”

Xiao Zhang felt even more like hitting someone.

Once inside, Xiao Yuan sat down and directly asked Xia Man: ”How much did the rings cost? I’ll reimburse you later.”

”No need, no need, it’s Jingchen and my gift of goodwill.” Xia Man quickly waved her hand.

She genuinely meant it, and no matter the cost, she didn’t intend to ask the elders for money.

”Good, good, the thought, the thought is what’s rare.” Xiao Yuan seemed very pleased, raising his hand, everyone could see the unsightly, somewhat tarnished silver ring he wore: ”These rings are great, better looking than any diamond or gemstone ring.”

Anning also raised her hand, placing it next to Xiao Yuan’s. The ugly pair of rings appeared quite dazzling: ”Indeed, I initially said to buy for Jingchen and Manman, but didn’t expect Manman to be thoughtful and buy for us. A Yuan, we must cherish each other and stay together forever.”

”Of course.” Xiao Yuan held Anning’s hand and then looked at Xia Man: ”After a while, come with me to the study to pick something.”

This sentence made Xiao Tong envious.

Xiao Yuan’s study is especially large, half for work and reading, half for his collection of treasures accumulated over the years. Any of those items are valuable, especially knowing there’s an Yuan Blue and White Porcelain worth billions and a crown once worn by a queen among his auction pieces. Besides these two, the rest are almost all worth at least tens of millions. Xiao Yuan never gave them away before, yet now he asks Xia Man to pick something, this favoritism is too much.

Xiao Tong was originally quite happy.

She thought Anning was behind freezing Li Wanping and Xiao Zhang’s cards, that Anning was working with her, and she’d eventually see Li Wanping’s mother and son constantly embarrassing themselves, ending with the fortune in her hands.

Yet now, Xiao Tong wasn’t so sure.

She felt she was making a deal with the devil, fearing that before she inherited the family wealth, Anning would move it all to Xi Jingchen.

Xiao Tong glared fiercely at Xi Jingchen.

Meanwhile, Anning was talking to Xia Man: ”Later, go choose a treasure with your grandfather. By the way, Grandpa mentioned there’s a lovely crown among his collection, which I think suits our Manman. If it’s possible, take that, you can wear it for your wedding.”

Xia Man truly didn’t know how valuable Xiao Yuan’s collection was.

So, she calmly agreed: ”Thank you, Grandpa.”

Xiao Yuan smiled: ”Thank for what, we’re all family, all this thanking is cumbersome.”

While speaking, Xiao Yuan noticed the watch on Xi Jingchen’s wrist, glanced at it twice, then said to Xi Jingchen: ”Later, you also go to the study, I have a few decent watches in my collection, I’ll give you one.”

Li Wanping and Xiao Zhang’s eyes turned red, really red.

Li Wanping couldn’t help but stand up.

”Dad, those watches...”

Xiao Yuan raised his hand: ”What watches, those are just things. Besides, they’re mine, I can give them to whomever I wish.”

Even if Xi Jingchen was Li Wanping’s own son, Li Wanping couldn’t endure it.

She loudly said: ”Dad, I want to ask, why did you freeze mine and Xiao Zhang’s cards? Do you realize how embarrassed we were today, having bid but unable to pay? By tomorrow, the whole upper circle of Su City will know our family’s predicament. How do you expect us to face anyone?”

Xiao Yuan coldly raised his eyes: ”Embarrassed? You still know how to feel embarrassed? Haven’t you done enough embarrassing things?”

Li Wanping furiously took several deep breaths: ”What did we do wrong? Dad, Xiao Zhang is your own grandson, don’t be misguided by an old woman...”

Anning conveniently started to sob.

She nestled into Xiao Yuan’s arms, crying: ”A Yuan, did you hear them? They all look down on me. Earlier, they secretly cursed me as an old hag, called me an old demon. Tonight, Xiao Zhang openly cursed me. Right at the auction venue, he cursed me like that. No matter what, I’m your lawfully wedded wife, right? I don’t demand much respect from him, nor that he calls me Grandma, but he shouldn’t act this way, A Yuan. If your family dislikes me so much, perhaps we should divorce. I’d rather not be cursed daily.”

Xiao Yuan’s face darkened, he lifted his gaze to Li Wanping with displeasure: ”Shut up.”

Anning continued to sob softly: ”A Yuan, I married you because I love you, unlike some people who married for money. Even if you were a beggar on the street, I’d still marry you. I have my own money, I don’t need to spend yours, and it’s me who provides the money for Jingchen and Manman’s expenses. I... I even said if you happily give Manman and Jingchen something, I’d repay you with something of equal value later. Yet, they just can’t accept me, don’t know what they think of me in their hearts, whether they see me as clingy, shamelessly taking things from the Xiao Family, like a relative grabbing things for herself. A Yuan, am I that kind of person?”

Li Wanping wanted to curse Anning, this old fox spirit, clearly insinuating, cursing her by implying she married Xiao Zhe for Xiao Family’s wealth.

”Li Wanping, Xiao Zhang, is this how you treat your elders? You spoke so nicely before, talking of respect for me, but now I see you’re eager for me to die soon for the inheritance? Just because I gave Jingchen and Manman a couple of things you can’t stand it, you bully my wife this way, you’re something else.”

Xiao Yuan angrily slapped the table: ”I initially thought I’d freeze your cards for a few days to teach you a lesson. Clearly, you won’t learn, so your cards will remain frozen, and all monthly allowances, wardrobe budgets, social expenses will stop. You stay at home and reflect properly.”

After scolding Li Wanping and Xiao Zhang, Xiao Yuan turned back to gently comfort Anning: ”Don’t be upset, alright? Enough crying, your eyes are all red, it pains me to see this. These juniors are ignorant, don’t obey, just teach them a lesson, it’s not worth getting so angry over them. Alright, I’ve frozen their cards. Since you said not to give them money, I’ll make them live frugally, it’s outrageous they’d dare treat you this way...”

Anning cried beautifully, shedding tears without ruining her makeup, making her appear pitiful, aggrieved: ”Then you must keep their cards frozen, seeing how they despise me, what if they hire someone to do harm.”

”They wouldn’t dare. Fine, I’ll give them no money from now on.”

Xiao Yuan held Anning gently, creating a strong contrast with how he had just scolded Li Wanping: ”Don’t be sad anymore. You know how much I love the resort I built? Tomorrow, let’s transfer it to you, how about giving you the resort?”

”Really?”

Anning finally wiped her tears, her eyes bright, looking at Xiao Yuan: ”Will you truly give it to me?”

Xiao Yuan nodded firmly: ”It’s true, tomorrow I’ll have the lawyer come home to handle the transfer documents.”

Anning joyfully hugged Xiao Yuan: ”I love you the most.”

Li Wanping and Xiao Zhang felt their lungs were about to explode with anger, they hated Anning but dared not speak.

Xiao Tong was also a bit stunned.

To gift a resort, along with that educational company, they’ve only been married for such a short time, yet the Old Madam has already taken over billions worth of assets from the old master. At this rate, within a year, the Old Madam might clear out the family.
