The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

At this time, Li Wanping was quite ill, naturally leading her to think about Xi Jingchen.

She called Xi Zhenhua, saying she was seriously ill and wanted Xi Jingchen to come see her.

Xi Zhenhua, being infatuated, bore no grudges against Li Wanping and, upon hearing that she wanted to see their son, eagerly took Xi Jingchen to see Li Wanping.

Coincidentally, Xiao Zhang was also at the hospital visiting Li Wanping that day, and he was in the ward swearing at Xiao Tong, complaining about how Xiao Tong was screwing him over, and Xi Jingchen overheard it.

Xi Jingchen did not know Xiao Zhang was Li Wanping’s son. He assumed Xiao Zhang was the child of Xiao Zhe’s ex-wife, and seeing Xiao Zhang showed some respect towards his mother, Xi Jingchen offered Xiao Zhang some advice.

Because of this, Li Wanping saw the value in Xi Jingchen.

After Xi Jingchen left, Li Wanping discussed with Xiao Zhang about bringing Xi Jingchen over to help Xiao Zhang deal with Xiao Tong.

After all, no matter what, Xi Jingchen was Xiao Zhang’s half-brother, so he was somewhat more reliable than others.

Most importantly, Xi Jingchen was not a child of the Xiao Family. No matter how capable he was, he could only assist Xiao Zhang and wouldn’t be able to seize power.

If Xi Jingchen were a bit clever, he would understand that if Xiao Zhang inherited the family business, it would be beneficial for him, and he might secure a position as a senior manager or general manager in the Xiao Family. Since his interests were aligned with Xiao Zhang’s, he was the most trustworthy assistant.

Once the mother and son planned it out, Li Wanping kept calling Xi Jingchen, as well as Xi Zhenhua, hinting that she missed Xi Jingchen and hoped he would apply to a university in Suhai City. This way, she could also take care of him and often see her son, and once Xi Jingchen graduated, he could work as a senior manager at the Xiao Family, which would only benefit Xi Jingchen with no downsides.

Xi Zhenhua, entirely charmed by Li Wanping, believed in everything she said.

He thought Li Wanping, being Xi Jingchen’s biological mother, would not harm her own child and agreed with great relief, believing it was all for their son’s good.

Originally, Xi Jingchen did not want to go to Suhai City, intending instead to apply to a university in the Capital due to his interest in computers.

But when applying for colleges, Xi Zhenhua secretly altered Xi Jingchen’s application.

As a result, Xi Jingchen was admitted to the finance department of Suhai University, leaving him no choice but to pack his things and go to Suhai for his studies.

Going there was like a lamb entering a lion’s den, never to return.

Li Wanping used all sorts of reasons to get close to Xi Jingchen and then didn’t allow him to return home. By the time Xi Jingchen graduated from university, Li Wanping, leveraging her status as his biological mother, forced Xi Jingchen into the Xiao Family to help deal with Xiao Tong.

This, in itself, would have been bearable, but what Xi Jingchen couldn’t stand most was that he had fallen in love with a girl during university, and they sincerely loved each other. They had even planned to get married after graduation.

But who would have expected that Xiao Zhang took a fancy to Xi Jingchen’s girlfriend, and to please her eldest son, Li Wanping continuously opposed Xi Jingchen’s relationship, trying various ways to ruin their love.

Furthermore, a girl from a noble family in Suhai City, from the Hu Family, developed an interest in Xi Jingchen, and in order to garner Hu Yushan’s support, Li Wanping insisted on pushing Xi Jingchen and Hu Yushan together, even going so far as to orchestrate an intimate encounter between the two, which Xi Jingchen’s girlfriend witnessed.

In short, Li Wanping created a huge mess, and that Hu Yushan was no good either. Her desire for control was extreme, wanting everything to go her way. All her behavior and Li Wanping’s manipulative tactics drove Xi Jingchen into severe depression.

At that time, Xi Jingchen’s most beloved original parent had long passed away. He could only confide in Xi Zhenhua about his troubles, but even Xi Zhenhua thought Hu Yushan was good for him and persuaded Xi Jingchen to listen to Li Wanping, believing his biological mother would never harm him.

In the end, when Xi Jingchen learned that Xiao Zhang had violated his girlfriend, he went crazy and tried to kill Xiao Zhang, only to be stopped by Li Wanping.

The Xiao Family’s power was too vast, and with the Hu Family’s assistance, how could a young man fresh out of university like Xi Jingchen, who essentially had nothing, possibly oppose them?

Ultimately, Xi Jingchen and his girlfriend were driven to the edge, and they both jumped off a building to their deaths.
