The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

”No, don’t call the police.”

The Old Madam’s son was also terrified.

His reputation was already tarnished, and he had a criminal record. If the police got involved, who knows how much he might have to pay, or even face imprisonment.

Even if the police were called and he paid, the Old Madam’s son knew Liu Heizi wouldn’t let it go. He’d make sure you never have peace.

Given the situation, it would be better to solve it privately without involving the police.

”I’ll pay, I’ll pay.”

The Old Madam’s son gave in.

Feng Yino wasn’t foolish either; she quickly said, ”I’ll pay too.”

”Alright.”

Liu Heizi extended his hand: ”Don’t say I don’t give you a break. I won’t ask for much, one hundred thousand yuan per person.”

Feng Yino was terrified: ”Uncle, I, I don’t have that much money.”

Liu Heizi replied, ”Call your parents over. This needs to be handled with adults present, and...”

He looked at the Old Madam’s son: ”And you? Where’s the money?”

The Old Madam’s son quickly said, ”I, I don’t have that much money either.”

Liu Heizi pondered: ”If you don’t have money, then work off the debt. Here’s the deal: I know a contractor who needs workers. You go there and move bricks. I’ll tell him to deposit the monthly wage into my account. Once the debt is paid off, you can leave. How does that sound?”

The Old Madam’s son didn’t dare express any objection.

Meanwhile, Feng Yino contacted her parents.

Mr. Feng and Mrs. Feng arrived quickly. After hearing what happened from Liu Heizi, Mr. Feng slapped Feng Yino across the face: ”Troublemaker, always causing me trouble.”

He turned around, putting on a smile for Liu Heizi: ”You see, she’s just a kid. Please be lenient.”

Liu Heizi maintained a stern face: ”I’m not unreasonable; I’m more reasonable than you. Since you don’t have the money now, let’s do it this way: write a promissory note...”

He pointed at Feng Yino: ”First, take whatever money you have at home, give as much as you can, and let her write a promissory note for the rest. Of course, we’ll do it through formal procedures, treating it as a loan the young girl took. She’ll repay a bit each year once she’s an adult. But let’s be clear, the loan will include interest, and it won’t be a small amount. Consider this carefully.”

Mr. Feng quickly agreed: ”Then let’s write the contract. High interest is justified.”

Eventually, the Old Madam’s son was sent to the construction site to move bricks. Liu Heizi made it clear that since he wasn’t paying a lump sum, he also would pay interest, akin to a high-interest loan. After all, this one hundred thousand yuan might take years for the Old Madam’s son to repay.

Feng Yino also signed a contract, going through the formalities of borrowing money. With the interest compounding on this one hundred thousand yuan, by the time Feng Yino becomes an adult, it might amount to hundreds of thousands, enough to keep her paying.

Once Liu Heizi settled the matter, Qin Xiaocong invited him and Mr. Wang for a meal.

After feasting and drinking, Qin Xiaocong brought out more money to thank Liu Heizi.

Liu Heizi declined: ”Just a beat-up car and a bit of performance, and I got a profit of tens of thousands here. I can’t accept your money.”

Qin Xiaocong laughed: ”This is the hardworking brothers’ money, the tens of thousands you deserve. This is my personal gratitude; take it. If you don’t, I’ll be upset.”

Liu Heizi chuckled and accepted: ”Young Master Qin, let us know if any similar good deals come up in the future. I have plenty of brothers under me who can act well; we guarantee no one will suspect a thing.”

Qin Xiaocong nodded: ”Absolutely, absolutely.”

Thanking Mr. Wang and Liu Heizi, Qin Xiaocong left the hotel.

As he stepped out, he saw Xiao Yilin’s car.

Xiao Yilin was also leaving the hotel.

Qin Xiaocong’s face darkened a bit.

He hurriedly caught up with Xiao Yilin: ”Sis, what were you doing here?”

Xiao Yilin turned and saw Qin Xiaocong: ”I came to handle some things, what about you?”

”Handling some matters.”

Qin Xiaocong’s mood was low: ”Are you heading home?”

Xiao Yilin nodded: ”Get in; I’ll give you a ride home.”

Just as Qin Xiaocong opened the car door, someone called out to Xiao Yilin from behind.

Following the voice, Qin Xiaocong saw a tall, lanky man approaching.

Running over with an open hand, he held a delicate chain: ”Yilin, is this yours that you dropped?”

Xiao Yilin lifted her hand to find the bracelet she often wore was gone, urgently taking the chain: ”I dropped it, thank you.”

The man smiled: ”No need to be polite. By the way, would you like me to give you a ride home?”

”No need.”

Qin Xiaocong stepped forward, standing between the man and Xiao Yilin: ”I’ll be going home with her; we don’t need you.”

”Who is this?”

The man frowned.

Xiao Yilin smiled and introduced: ”This is my younger brother.”

”Oh, your brother.” The man exclaimed and offered to shake hands with Qin Xiaocong: ”Hello, brother.”

Qin Xiaocong’s face darkened further: ”Who’s your brother.”

He opened the car door to sit in the front passenger seat: ”Xiao Yilin, why are you still there, why not drive already.”

Xiao Yilin agreed with a smile: ”Right away.”

She waved to the man, opened the car door, and got inside: ”Who’s bothering you with such a foul mood.”

”No one.” Qin Xiaocong still wore a sour expression.

Xiao Yilin drove the car.

After driving a bit, Qin Xiaocong asked Xiao Yilin: ”Who was that man just now?”

”Our senior, he helped me a few days ago, so I treated him and some classmates to a meal.” Xiao Yilin answered good-naturedly.

”He’s pursuing you?”

Qin Xiaocong seemed intent on investigation: ”If he’s pursuing you, don’t agree. That guy seems shady, looks like a pretty boy, who knows how deceitful he might be beneath the surface.”

Xiao Yilin chuckled: ”He didn’t say he was pursuing me. What’s with you today, why such a bad mood?”

”I see him as having an ulterior motive — no charity without a motive.” Qin Xiaocong vehemently disparaged the man: ”Xiao Yilin, your priority now should be your studies and career. Don’t get distracted by other things. Achieve success in your career first, then you can choose any type of man you want.”

”Sure, sure.”

Xiao Yilin wasn’t upset. After all, it was her brother; there’s no choice but to indulge: ”I’ll listen to you — no dating, focus on career. I’m still thinking of earning enough to buy you a luxury car.”

”I don’t want you to buy me anything.” Qin Xiaocong angrily turned away, looking out at the bustling scene outside the car window: ”I’ll earn my own money.”

They drove home, and as soon as they entered, Xiao Yuan called out to Qin Xiaocong: ”Come to the study with me.”

Xiao Yilin paused, glanced at Qin Xiaocong, then at Anning.

Anning was sitting on the sofa, eating fruit, saying nothing.

Xiao Yilin sat next to Anning: ”Mom, the jerky you made recently was delicious. When will you have time to make more? I’m craving it.”

Anning smiled: ”In a few days. The company is busy now, but once this period passes, I’ll have time. I’ll buy plenty of meat and make lots of jerky, letting you take some to school.”

Xiao Yuan led Qin Xiaocong into the study.

Once inside, he closed the door.

”You arranged with Liu Heizi, didn’t you?”

Xiao Yuan got straight to the point with Qin Xiaocong. It wasn’t a question; he was certain.

Qin Xiaocong didn’t hide it: ”Yes, I just couldn’t take it; I wanted to stand up for Xiao Meng.”

”Wanting to stand up for Xiao Meng is good, but you have to consider your methods.” Xiao Yuan sat down with a stern face.

Qin Xiaocong wanted to pull a chair over to sit down, but Xiao Yuan’s cold snort startled him, and he didn’t dare sit.

”I did consider my methods. I never appeared, and no one knows it was me.” Qin Xiaocong argued, feeling rather scared inside. Although Xiao Yuan usually didn’t say much and appeared smiling most of the time, the household’s five kids were all quite scared of him. When Xiao Yuan became serious, even the bravest, Qin Xiaocong, dared not act up.
