The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Chapter 499: Chapter 490: Slapping the Golden Finger Reborn Girl 18

Secretary He also felt indignant on behalf of Anning.

He really wanted to do something for Anning.

Although he was not exactly a good person and had done some unconscionable things over the years, he still liked to see the good guys get rewarded and enjoyed dealing with kind-hearted people. He wanted kind-hearted people to live happily because only then would his heart feel a bit more at peace.

”Teacher, should we spread the news?”

Secretary He asked Xiao Yuan.

Xiao Yuan thought for a while: ”Wait a bit.”

Xiao Yuan was thinking that Anning had been doing charity work for so many years; she surely had evidence in her hands. Since she hadn’t spread the word herself, she might have other intentions.

He wanted to wait and see what Anning’s stance was.

Secretary He wanted to say more, but Xiao Yuan gestured with his hand: ”I’ll try to probe Miss Yu about it, maybe she’s intentionally not mentioning it.”

Secretary He nodded: ”Then I’ll step out.”

”Um.”

Xiao Yuan poured a glass of water to drink, watched as Secretary He went out and closed the door, and his face darkened.

Anning had ignored the school rumors for several days.

She kept studying on her own, acting as if she heard nothing of what others said.

Today, the mid-term exam results came out.

The scores and ranking list were posted on the bulletin board.

Song Zhenzhen dragged Anning to see the list.

While walking, Song Zhenzhen laughed: ”You’ve been studying so hard recently; I’m sure you did well this time.”

Anning said earnestly: ”Quite well, I’m going for a scholarship.”

A girl beside them sputtered with laughter: ”Must be crazy from poverty, daydreaming in broad daylight.”

”What did you say?”

Song Zhenzhen glared angrily at the girl.

Anning pulled Song Zhenzhen back: ”Don’t bother with her. Facts speak louder than words. No matter what we say, grades are the most real and effective proof.”

The girl sneered: ”If you get a scholarship this time, I’ll run naked around the campus for three laps.”

Anning patted Song Zhenzhen: ”Make sure to record this as evidence.”

”Sure thing.”

Song Zhenzhen took out her phone and aimed it at the girl: ”Hey, say that again.”

The girl glared with her big eyes: ”I’m not saying it, what’s there to say?”

It wasn’t much further to the bulletin board.

Song Zhenzhen first looked for Anning’s name among the dozens and couldn’t find it.

She was quite disappointed: ”How could this be...”

The girl laughed: ”I told you...”

Before she finished speaking, someone exclaimed: ”No way, Wei Haoxuan is actually second place, who’s first?”

Then, Anning’s name appeared prominently in the first place on the honor roll.

Song Zhenzhen saw it too; she was so shocked that her eyes nearly popped out, then she jumped for joy: ”Ningning, Ningning, you’re first place, you’re first place! You’ve surpassed Wei, God, you actually got first place.”

Anning responded indifferently: ”I know.”

She was looking for Song Zhenzhen’s name.

Song Zhenzhen’s grades were not much different from hers before, but this time Song Zhenzhen had improved a lot in the exams, moving up from around a hundred to the sixties.

Song Zhenzhen was also quite happy to see it.

”I’ve made progress too.”

Anning nodded: ”It seems that practice with Wu San and Huanggang really works. Keep grinding.”

”Just let me die.”

Song Zhenzhen threw herself onto Anning and started crying, ”I can’t do this anymore, practicing Wu San every day until I’m dizzy and nauseous. Every time I see those questions, I feel like puking. Ningning, please spare me.”

Anning patted Song Zhenzhen, then pointed to a girl nearby: ”She was the one who talked about streaking.”

Song Zhenzhen perked up instantly, grabbed the girl, and shouted, ”Who was it just now that said if Ningning got the scholarship, she’d run naked for three laps? Girl, we should stick to our words, right?”

That girl’s face changed color instantly: ”I didn’t say it, I don’t know who said it, I’m going back to the classroom.”

The girl ran faster than a rabbit.

Song Zhenzhen wanted to chase her, but Anning laughed and said, ”Let it go, give her a chance to live.”

Entering the classroom, Anning saw Mr. Bai enter with a smile on his face.

He stood on the podium and coughed lightly: ”Everybody be quiet.”

”Mr. Bai, did our class get good test scores this time?”

A student asked loudly.

A smile remained on Mr. Bai’s face that he couldn’t hide: ”Everyone has been working hard recently, and our class’s scores have improved a lot. The average score has surpassed class one, for the first time in history, I’m very happy.”

Mr. Bai looked at Anning, ”Especially Yu Anning. Her improvement this time is really remarkable, and moreover, Yu Anning got the first place in the city-wide exam, scoring over twenty points higher than the second place.”

The entire class was stunned.

It was already unbelievable for Anning to get first place in the school, let alone the first in the entire city. It was truly shocking.

Mr. Bai called Anning to speak: ”Anning, could you share your learning experience with everyone?”

Anning got up with a smile, standing next to Mr. Bai: ”Actually, I don’t have much to say. My study experience comes down to just one word - diligence. During this period, I’ve always been studying hard, going through several practice books. If anyone wants to improve their grades, just practice like me.”

”Spare me, please.”

Many students began to wail, ”Homework is already overwhelming, and now we have to practice more, this is too inhumanely miserable.”

Mr. Bai looked at Anning, who stood by his side with a faint smile on her face, felt a twinge of pain in his heart.

It was a good thing that Anning’s academic performance had improved.

However, whenever he saw Anning, he thought of her words that now, her only way out was to get a scholarship.

Indeed, pushed into a corner, she had to study hard to carve out a path for herself, or else there was only a dead end.

Mr. Bai knew Anning used to learn a lot before – music, dance, calligraphy, painting and so on, which took up much of her time and energy.

That’s why Anning’s academic performance was not top-ranked.

But during this period, she had no money to learn those, her mind was completely focused on her studies, hence the rapid improvement in grades.

Anning’s first place was earned by sacrificing all her spare time and hobbies.

This child had put herself in a do-or-die situation.

The more he thought about it, the more Mr. Bai felt a sourness in his heart.

He patted Anning on the shoulder: ”Keep up the effort, I will help you fight for the highest scholarship.”

”Thank you, teacher.”

Anning was truly grateful to Mr. Bai.

After taking her seat, An Xin said, ”Ningning, Xie Minglang has started to contact Yu Anjing.”

Anning smiled.

”Good, then let’s start executing our plan.”

Anning clenched her right hand slightly: ”It’s time to turn the tables.”

An Xin could hardly contain her joy as she danced around, ”Finally, no need to be so repressed. Ningning, you must take good revenge on Yu Anjing; don’t let her have it easy. And the Yu family, those selfish trash parents, definitely make them sad and regretful, have them regret it for a lifetime.”

”As you wish.”
