The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Chapter 495: Chapter 486: Slapping the Golden Fingered Female Supporting Character 14

”Who does he think he is.”

After Ge Yiming left, Song Zhenzhen cursed angrily, ”I’ve never seen such a person, acting all high and mighty all the time, as if anyone would care to pay attention to him.”

Anning chuckled, ”Don’t get upset over such people, come on, let’s hurry up and leave.”

Song Zhenzhen nodded, supporting Anning as they walked out of the school gate, ”Where are you living now? I’ll take you back.”

Anning thought that if she insisted on going home by herself, Song Zhenzhen would definitely be worried. It would be better to have her accompany her back and also familiarize her with the place so she could come over if there was anything in the future.

”It’s just over there...”

Anning pointed in a direction.

Song Zhenzhen smiled, ”Perfect, I remember there’s a supermarket over there. I’ll go with you to buy some stuff, and later I’ll cook something for you.”

Anning surreptitiously glanced at Song Zhenzhen’s soft and tender hands, ”Okay.”

She was actually thinking that Song Zhenzhen probably couldn’t cook, but she couldn’t refuse her kindness.

The two talked and laughed as they walked, but they hadn’t gone far when a black sedan stopped by Anning’s side.

Song Zhenzhen pulled Anning behind her, guarded.

The car door opened, and Xiao Yuan sat inside, waving to Anning, ”Get in.”

Anning turned back to Song Zhenzhen, ”This is my neighbor, he’s giving me a lift back, you should hurry home too.”

Hearing Anning say this, Song Zhenzhen guessed that Anning’s neighbor must be a decent person, so she didn’t worry too much.

She helped Anning over to the car, and after Anning got in, Song Zhenzhen whispered to Xiao Yuan, ”Sir, Ningning fainted during the exam today; she’s still very weak, please make sure to get her home safely, thank you.”

”Alright.”

Xiao Yuan’s voice was low as he agreed.

After the car started, Xiao Yuan asked Anning, ”What happened?”

Anning chuckled lightly, ”It’s nothing, just been a little tense lately.”

Xiao Yuan didn’t believe her one bit, ”I’ll ask your teacher.”

Anning frowned, and after a while, she spoke softly, ”No need to ask. I just haven’t eaten well these past few days, staying up studying until midnight...”

She looked as if she had done something wrong, hanging her head low, her hands anxiously twisting the hem of her clothes.

Xiao Yuan’s gaze darkened slightly and he instructed the driver, ”Go to Gui Gong Mansion.”

Anning immediately waved her hands, ”No need, I’ll cook for myself when I get back, don’t go to all that trouble.”

Gui Gong Mansion was a well-known private restaurant in Moon City, and having a meal there was really not cheap.

Xiao Yuan looked down at the needle marks on the back of Anning’s hand and took out his phone to call Secretary He.

He asked Secretary He to go to the supermarket to buy groceries, and when they arrived downstairs, Xiao Yuan said to Anning, ”You’re not in a position to cook, have dinner at my place tonight, and afterwards you can sing for me - it saves you the trouble of going back and forth.”

Anning was somewhat uneasy, ”You’re really troubling yourself too much, I really can manage on my own...”

Xiao Yuan was slightly displeased and without regarding whether Anning was willing, he pulled her into the elevator.

By the time he brought Anning into his home, Secretary He had already bought the groceries.

Xiao Yuan took off his suit jacket, rolled up his sleeves, and took the groceries into the kitchen.

Anning put down her backpack and followed him in, ”Mr. Xiao, let me help you.”

Xiao Yuan blocked her off, ”No need, you go watch TV or take a rest. I can manage.”

Anning stood in the kitchen for a while, and seeing that Xiao Yuan was indeed adept at cooking, she turned and left the kitchen.

She didn’t watch TV but took out her phone to search the school gossip forum.

Sure enough, everyone in the school, staff and students alike, knew about her fainting during the exam. Everyone was discussing it.

Many parents on the school forum also found it unbelievable. What kind of society was it where a student could still faint from hunger? The student’s parents were too irresponsible.

Initially, everyone thought Anning was a student from a poor family with extreme difficulties. But when it was revealed that Anning was the second daughter of the Yu Family, the forum exploded.

Anning had only looked for a little while when her phone rang.

She hurriedly answered, and as soon as she did, she heard Father Yu’s yelling: ”Anning, what’s going on with you? Are you smearing your mother and me behind our backs?”

Anning was startled and said very carefully, ”Dad, I haven’t, I’ve been focusing on studying and haven’t been in contact with anyone...”

But Father Yu wouldn’t listen: ”One of our family’s projects was ruined because of you. Do you know what Kangtai’s Mr. Li said about me? He actually called me no good, saying I could even drive out and starve my own daughter. He doesn’t trust someone like me.”

Anning said timidly, ”But I don’t even know Mr. Li, and I only fainted after the exam today. How could he know?”

Father Yu was furious: ”One of your school’s teachers is Mr. Li’s wife. How do you think he knows? Anning, are you deliberately trying to make trouble for me? I knew you were no good...”

Anning stood there holding her phone, devastated by these hurtful words, her tears falling drop by drop.

She felt wronged and angry, her hand trembling as she held the phone: ”Dad, when I fainted, even classmates who usually have conflicts with me were concerned enough to ask about my health and whether I would feel unwell in class. You’re my biological father, but when you call, you don’t even ask how I am but start scolding me right away. I’m starting to doubt whether I’m really your biological daughter.”

Even a cornered rabbit will bite, let alone the original host who was not as weak and incompetent as she appeared.

The original host managed to persevere in her studies despite the oppression from Yu Anjing and being ostracized, ultimately getting into a decent university, which shows she has a resilient nature.

And now, Anning was displaying the original host’s resilient and stubborn side.

”You say you’re not my biological child just because I provide food and clothing for you?”

Father Yu laughed in anger: ”If you still want to come home and acknowledge your parents, then hurry back and kowtow to admit your guilt, or else...”

”Well, since Dad thinks I’m so bad and dislikes me so much, then just disown me. Also, I don’t know what I did wrong and I won’t admit to any unwarranted charges. Dad, I’ll remember the sixteen years of care you’ve provided, and when I earn money, I will repay you. Since we’re mutually disgusted, let’s just sever our relationship.”

Anning was so angry that ruthless words slipped out of her mouth.

She did not wait for Father Yu to react and hung up the phone directly.

After hanging up, Anning wiped away her tears and smiled at Xiao Yuan standing at the kitchen door. That smile was so tragic that it pained Xiao Yuan’s heart.

”You’ve seen a disgraceful side of me.”

Anning said these words, her tears falling uncontrollably, her voice hoarse.

Xiao Yuan strode over and gently patted Anning’s head twice, ”Let’s eat.”

”Okay.” Anning stood up, smiling while crying.

Xiao Yuan sighed and took her hand to lead her to the dining table.

The table was already set with bowls and chopsticks and several dishes. Anning sniffled, ”I’ll serve the rice.”

Xiao Yuan gestured, ”Let me do it.”

He turned and went into the kitchen, quickly bringing out a porcelain bowl of rice.

Anning scooped out two full bowls of rice, one for herself and one for Xiao Yuan.

As she sat down, she said to Xiao Yuan in a low voice, ”I’m really sorry, I might not be able to sing for you today.”
