The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Chapter 484: Chapter 475: Slapping the Golden Finger Rebirth Girl 3

Anning walked slowly out from the Yu Family home.

Her silhouette looked very heavy.

High school books are numerous, so the backpack is naturally large and heavy; that huge backpack on Anning’s back almost crushed her.

She walked further and further away with the heavy backpack, step by step.

Mother Yu, seeing Anning like this, suddenly felt a surge of pity in her heart, and she somewhat couldn’t bear to treat Anning so harshly.

But as soon as she thought of those dreams, Mother Yu steeled her heart.

Even if she loved this daughter, Anning was an ungrateful wretch she couldn’t grow fond of.

In those dreams, not only did Anning steal Yu Anjing’s credit, taking all the credit for saving and helping others for herself, but she also used these actions to attract many men, who hovered around her.

She used these men to harm Yu Anjing and ultimately, in order to marry into a wealthy family, she caused the downfall of her parents and took all the Yu Family’s property to marry the man she fancied.

In the end, it was Yu Anjing, the eldest daughter they always neglected, who bore the pressure and took them in during their destitution, providing for their old age and burial.

Thinking of these, Mother Yu’s heart filled with intense hatred towards Anning.

Father Yu felt the same as Mother Yu; he also hated this daughter who he had doted on from her childhood.

Now, he only wanted to properly compensate Jingjing. As for Anning, although Father Yu didn’t wish her dead, he would no longer treat her kindly.

Father Yu looked at Mother Yu, and when their eyes met, they each saw the same thought in the other’s eyes.

When Anning walked out from the Yu Family’s home, she straightened her back and, carrying the backpack, hurried along until she finally found a bus stop.

The Yu Family lived in a villa area, which is somewhat far from the downtown, and there are hardly any bus stops around; the original host had been pampered since childhood, always picked up and dropped off by car and never rode on a public bus.

In Anning’s memory, the original host was exceptionally obedient and walked to school; by the time she arrived, the morning classes were over, and because of her tardiness, she was called out by the teacher in front of the class and scolded. Exhausted, she went home and fell severely ill.

The original host didn’t know what to do, but Anning wouldn’t really walk to school.

Even though Father Yu and Mother Yu had taken Anning’s bank card and stopped giving her pocket money, Anning still scrounged up some change from the house, enough for bus fare.

This time, Anning took the bus and transferred twice to reach school.

When Anning arrived at school, the bell had not yet rung, and she ran into the classroom carrying her backpack.

”Ningning.”

Anning’s deskmate, Song Zhenzhen, waved at her, and Anning smiled as she went over and sat down.

Song Zhenzhen handed Anning a bottle of milk: ”Drink this quickly.”

Anning took it and drank the milk while taking out the books from her backpack.

After Anning finished the milk, Song Zhenzhen threw the milk bottle into the trash can and then asked her, ”Did you not come with your sister today?”

Anning smiled and responded, then asked Song Zhenzhen, ”How did you know?”

”I saw your family’s car when I arrived; your sister got out by herself.”

Song Zhenzhen explained briefly and seeing the fine beads of sweat on Anning’s forehead, she felt genuinely sorry for her: ”Why didn’t you come by car?”

Anning softly said, ”My dad said he wanted to punish me, so today he made me walk to school; I walked for a long time before I got here.”

”What?”

Song Zhenzhen exclaimed: ”Walking? My goodness, how is that possible? Your home is so far from the school, you would have to leave so early.”

Anning picked up a book and said lightly, ”It’s fine to leave a bit earlier, just consider it exercise.”

She didn’t take it seriously, but Song Zhenzhen felt indignant on her behalf: ”That’s too outrageous, having the same daughters yet treating them so differently.”

”I’m fine.”

Anning reassured Song Zhenzhen, ”I’m already very grateful that they brought me up, I won’t resent them for how they treat me.”

Song Zhenzhen knew Anning was tender and kind-hearted and never minded being mistreated by others, but she still felt stifled for Anning’s sake.

Soon the class bell rang, and Song Zhenzhen had no more time to talk with Anning.

During the first class, Anning sought out Mr. Bai.

She approached Mr. Bai to inquire about the school scholarships.

Mr. Bai was taken aback when Anning asked about scholarships.

He sized up Anning: ”Why are you asking about this?”

Anning stood there, obedient and seemingly fragile, ”A few days ago, my parents took all the money I had saved and even took my bank card, and recently, they haven’t given me any pocket money either. I’m worried something might be wrong at home, and if it is, I’m afraid I won’t have the money to pay the school fees, so I thought I’d ask about the scholarships in advance. I want to try for a scholarship.”

Mr. Bai, looking at Anning’s considerate demeanor, began to feel sympathy for this young girl.

The Yu Family’s company is quite well-known in Moon City, and Mr. Bai’s husband is also a successful businessman who had business dealings with the Yu Family. Thus, Mr. Bai knew their business was doing well, and they recently took on a new project that reportedly made quite a bit of money.

There shouldn’t be any financial insolvency in the Yu Family’s business.

Yet paradoxically, after making money, they even took their daughter’s savings and didn’t give her any pocket money. This couple really could do such a thing.

Mr. Bai thought for a moment: ”Our school does offer scholarships, but they are usually awarded to the top few students in the class or those who have won big prizes in competitions. It’s unlikely you’ll qualify for a scholarship under your circumstances.”

Anning simply smiled: ”How much is the first prize scholarship?”

Mr. Bai, of course, didn’t conceal it from Anning: ”The top student in the end-of-term exams gets 5,000, if you win a big prize at the city level it’s 5,000, at the provincial level it’s 10,000, and if you achieve the top rank in the city’s joint exams, the scholarship is 10,000.”

Mr. Bai didn’t have high hopes for Anning securing a scholarship.

Anning’s academics are quite good; she has consistently been in the top hundred in her grade, but she has never been in the top ten. Improving her grades that much in a short time seemed unlikely.

Anning thanked Mr. Bai with a smile, ”Okay, I understand now.”

By the time she left the office, Mr. Bai began discussing Anning with another teacher he was close to: ”This child is truly great, very diligent in her studies and extremely well-mannered and polite, such a nice quiet young lady.”

Most of the teachers in the office taught Anning’s class, and they all had quite good impressions of her.

A few teachers had also overheard the conversation between Anning and Mr. Bai, and their impressions of the Yu family couple were not very good.

”To be parents like that is really... If my daughter were as sensible and obedient as her, I’d be overjoyed, I wouldn’t bear to make her suffer like this.”

”Anning’s homeroom teacher during junior high school was my sister-in-law; she always praised Anning for being sensible, often helping teachers and assisting classmates in need. The young lady isn’t just academically proficient, but also talented in many areas. I’ve always said Anning’s parents are fortunate to have such a good daughter. Now it seems, good as the daughter may be, the parents aren’t necessarily so; the Yu family couple must be out of their minds, to be willing to trouble such an excellent daughter.”

The teachers all felt quite indignant on behalf of Anning.

Anning returned to the classroom sporting a smile, then began to bury herself in her studies.
