The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Chapter 494: Chapter 485: Slapping the Golden Finger Reborn Girl 13

Mr. Bai stayed by Anning’s side until she woke up, only then did he breathe a sigh of relief.

Anning opened her eyes and felt a sense of comfort when she saw Mr. Bai.

She asked softly, ”Teacher, where am I?”

Mr. Bai wanted to scold Anning, but seeing the pitiful look on the child, he couldn’t bear to do it.

He poured a cup of brown sugar water for Anning and said, ”Have some water first.”

Mr. Bai was very attentive, placing a straw in the cup and handing it to Anning’s lips. Anning took a few sips, her throat no longer felt so dry, and she gave a weak smile, ”Teacher, what happened to me?”

Mr. Bai didn’t know how to deal with Anning.

He sighed deeply, ”Why didn’t you talk to your teacher if you were having difficulties?”

Anning felt a bit guilty and said softly, ”I... I’ve borrowed money from you already, I couldn’t trouble you further.”

”You child.”

Mr. Bai patted Anning’s head, ”Your teacher isn’t blaming you, but you can’t go on like this. You’re not eating or sleeping well; even an iron body couldn’t hold up, let alone when you’re already in poor health.”

”But,” Anning bit her lip, ”I want to earn a scholarship. I need to study right now and don’t have time to work for money. The only way out is to earn a scholarship, I...”

”Forget it, you rest well for a while, I’ll take you home after your drip finishes.”

Mr. Bai sighed in his heart, made Anning drink some more water, glanced at the half-full drip bottle, said a few words to the doctor, and then took out his phone and went out.

Leaving the medical room, Mr. Bai called Father Yu.

Father Yu had just finished a meeting at the company and was surprised to receive a call from Mr. Bai.

”Is this the father of Yu Anning?”

Mr. Bai asked softly.

Father Yu responded, ”Hmm.”

”Yu Anning fainted during the exam today. As her homeroom teacher, I think it’s important to have a proper talk with you, her parents.”

Mr. Bai was actually very frustrated, he was quite indignant at the behaviour of Father Yu and Mother Yu.

Not to mention how well-behaved and diligent Anning is, even if she wasn’t that well-behaved, even if she did something wrong, as parents, they should guide and discipline, not just throw their child out of the house and ignore her from then on.

Parents with poor economic conditions still try to create a good learning environment for their children, yet the Yu family, running a company and possessing wealth of hundreds of millions, are so harsh on their own child.

What kind of parents are these?

”Fainted?” Father Yu’s voice was devoid of emotion, ”How did she faint?”

Hearing this tone made Mr. Bai even angrier, naturally, some of it showed, ”Malnutrition plus staying up late studying. Mr. Anning, after you kicked her out, have you not thought about her at all? Are you not aware of her current situation? She’s a sixteen-year-old still in school, what ability does she have to earn money? She told me that her only way out is to get a scholarship, that’s why she’s studying so hard. The child isn’t unreasonable, and she isn’t mischievous, why are you...”

Mr. Bai found himself at a loss for words.

He genuinely felt regretful and angry for Anning.

Such a good child, and she ends up with such terrible parents who shirk all responsibility.

Father Yu’s voice remained calm, without a hint of urgency for his child, ”I see. In the future, you don’t need to discuss her matters with us. Since she dared to move out, she has to pay for her impulsiveness. If she didn’t call us, it means she can handle it. If she really can’t take it any longer and wants to come back, we won’t stop her.”

Mr. Bai was so angry he was shaking, ”Okay, Anning is still on an IV, and I’m worried. I’m going to hang up now.”

Mr. Bai hung up the phone and took several deep breaths before calming down.

Even someone as composed as him felt like cursing.

At the same time, Mr. Bai understood why Anning moved out of her home; who could tolerate such parents? Even an adult would find it difficult to keep calm, let alone a child.

When Mr. Bai re-entered the hospital room, Anning was leaning on the bed with her head down, seemingly deep in thought.

She saw Mr. Bai come in, lifted her head, and showed a timid smile: ”Teacher, did you call my dad?”

When she asked this, a glimmer of hope clearly flashed in her eyes.

Mr. Bai felt even more heartbroken, his heart heavy with sorrow.

He gave a smile: ”Mmm, your dad is quite worried about you.”

Anning smiled, her smile fragile, shaking her head: ”That shouldn’t be the case, he definitely didn’t ask much, he wants me to bow my head, to beg for forgiveness before I can return home, right?”

Mr. Bai really didn’t know what to say.

To tell the truth, he worried the child couldn’t bear it.

”Don’t overthink it, getting well is what’s important.”

When Wei Haoxuan entered the classroom, he heard several students discussing Anning fainting.

He keenly overheard a gossip-loving student saying: ”Heard Anning was kicked out by her family, and now she’s renting a place to live. She doesn’t have money on hand, and she dares not eat much every day. Recently, she has been studying until midnight and getting up early to do chores, she fainted because of malnutrition and staying up late studying.”

”Really?”

Several students crowded around.

Wei Haoxuan paused in his steps and listened even more carefully.

”It’s true, I asked the clinic’s doctor, anyway, she’s in a pitiful state.”

”That’s a bit too much, isn’t it? Speaking of which, Anning is quite well-behaved, what big mistake did she make to be driven out of her home?”

”Yeah, thinking back, were we too harsh on her before?”

”I was in the same exam room with Anning, and I was terrified when she fainted. You don’t know how pale she was when she handed in her paper; her face was as white as a vampire’s.”

”It was quite scary.”

Wei Haoxuan listened to the students’ discussion, unable to help touching his chest, his heart ached with each word he heard.

He took a deep breath, hardened his heart to stop listening to those words, and steeled himself to not think about Anning.

If...

He thought, if it hadn’t been for that dream, he would probably still be secretly caring about Anning, still liking such a wonderful her.

Ge Yiming also heard a few classmates mention Anning’s situation after school.

He was furious. When only he and a few close friends remained in the classroom, Ge Yiming punched the desk and cursed furiously: ”She deserves it, if she just obediently became my girlfriend, would I starve her?”

But the more he cursed, the more troubled he felt inside. He felt so frustrated and uncomfortable that he wanted to burst into tears.

After school, Song Zhenzhen carefully helped Anning out.

The two of them took the small path and were about to reach the school gate when Ge Yiming blocked Anning’s way.

His eyes were a bit red, staring intently at Anning: ”What happened to you, still thinking you are some big deal, but in the end, you fainted from hunger, so impressive.”

Anning turned away, not looking at Ge Yiming.

Song Zhenzhen was furious: ”What’s it to you, just go away, or I’m telling the teacher.”

Ge Yiming took a deep breath, with a slap, threw the meal card to the ground: ”My meal card for you, get yourself well nourished. Otherwise, it’s no fun for me to bully you.”

”We don’t want it.”

Song Zhenzhen picked up the meal card and handed it back to Ge Yiming: ”Whatever Anning wants to eat, I’ll buy it for her. Your false kindness isn’t needed, just go away.”

Anning spoke softly: ”I appreciate your kind offer, Mr. Ge, but we are not that close. From now on, please keep your distance from me.”

”You...”

Ge Yiming clenched his fists with anger, and it took him a long time to say: ”Suit yourself. But even if you faint, I won’t let you off the hook.”
