The Comeback of the Cannon-Fodder Supporting Actress

Chapter 497: Chapter 487: Slapping the Golden Finger Rebirth Girl 15

Xiao Yuan put some food on Anning’s plate: ”Don’t think too much, hurry up and eat. After eating, go back and sleep, and everything will be all right.”

Anning bowed her head and rapidly shoveled rice into her mouth. As she ate, tears fell, making Xiao Yuan both worried and sympathetic.

Eventually, Xiao Yuan couldn’t bear it anymore and snatched the bowl of rice from Anning’s hand: ”If you don’t want to eat, then don’t eat.”

Anning dropped her chopsticks and buried her head in the table, bursting into a big cry.

Xiao Yuan got up, walked over to Anning, and patted her back: ”If you want to cry, cry it out loud. After you’ve cried, forget all the unhappiness, okay?”

Xiao Yuan was better off not trying to comfort her; As soon as he did, Anning became even more heartbroken. She was crying so hard that she couldn’t catch her breath, and then she ended up embracing Xiao Yuan and weeping even more.

Xiao Yuan stood frozen, not knowing where to place his hands.

”I don’t have a home anymore, they don’t want me anymore, I have no home, I’ve become an orphan...”

Anning cried miserably, constantly muttering about not having a home, and Xiao Yuan’s heart was aching with her sorrowful cries.

Anning cried for a long time, as if trying to let out all the grievances she had accumulated. She cried herself into a daze and actually fell asleep in Xiao Yuan’s arms.

Xiao Yuan carried Anning to the sofa. With one arm around Anning and the other flipping through her backpack for her house keys, he then lifted Anning onto his back, hung her backpack in front of him, and carried her home like that.

He used the keys to open the door, carried Anning into the bedroom, gently placed her on the bed, tucked her in, and then stood at the bedside for a long time before turning and leaving the bedroom.

Xiao Yuan didn’t go home.

He was somewhat worried about Anning, so after leaving the bedroom, he sat in Anning’s house’s living room, flipping through his phone.

After a while, having heard that Anning was finally sleeping soundly, Xiao Yuan was about to step out onto the balcony to make a phone call when he heard the ringtone from Anning’s phone inside her bag.

He opened the backpack, took out the phone, glanced at the caller, and pressed the answer button.

”Hello.”

”Hi, who is this? I don’t think I called the wrong number.”

Song Zhenzhen’s voice came through, clearly surprised.

”I’m Anning’s neighbor.”

”Ah!” Song Zhenzhen let out a scream: ”Are you that super handsome young man? Hi, hi, where is Ningning? Let her answer the phone.”

”She is not able to.” Xiao Yuan glanced towards the bedroom: ”She’s asleep.”

”Asleep?”

Song Zhenzhen was even more surprised and stammered: ”What’s going on with her? What happened between you two?”

Xiao Yuan felt rather mixed emotions at Song Zhenzhen’s obvious misunderstanding.

”She was having dinner at my place when she received a phone call from her father...”

Xiao Yuan didn’t hide anything, recounting the evening’s events in detail to Song Zhenzhen: ”I’m a bit worried about her now.”

”I see.”

Song Zhenzhen let out a sigh of relief, but then thinking about Father Yu’s attitude towards Anning, she too was angered: ”Really... I don’t even know what to say. What kind of father does that? Ningning is so exhausted that she fainted, yet he doesn’t care about her health and is more bothered by Ningning causing him to lose a project. That’s really something.”

After venting, Song Zhenzhen asked Xiao Yuan: ”Can you send me your address? I’ll come over right now. I’m worried about Ningning being alone at home. I’ll stay with her for the night.”

”Okay.”

After hanging up the phone, Xiao Yuan went into the bedroom, grabbed Anning’s hand to use her fingerprint to unlock the phone, went through the WeChat contacts, found Song Zhenzhen, and sent her the address of Anning’s house.

Song Zhenzhen arrived quite fast; in less than half an hour she was there.

Moreover, Song Zhenzhen was driven by her father. After he dropped her off at the doorstep of Anning’s house, he had a good chat with Xiao Yuan and saw the elderly couple from across the hall go out before he left reassured.

Once Mr. Song left, Song Zhenzhen went straight into the bedroom.

Seeing that there was someone to accompany Anning, Xiao Yuan said goodbye to Song Zhenzhen and headed home.

He returned home, and the first thing he did was to call Secretary He: ”Help me check on Yu Family’s latest project, and also gather detailed information on Miss Yu, as detailed as possible.”

Secretary He received the call and took about two hours to send the information to Xiao Yuan.

Xiao Yuan entered the study, booted up the computer, and began to read through the occurrences in the Yu Family over the years.

He saw that when Anning was young, she was particularly doted on. Father Yu and Mother Yu treated Anning very well, much better than they treated Yu Anjing.

In fact, if anyone had a daughter like Anning, they would want to dote on her as well.

Anning was well-behaved and sensible, with an especially kind heart, and liked to help people. Most of the pocket money and New Year’s cash gifts she saved from childhood were donated to charity. Whenever she had time, she would buy lots of things to donate to orphanages and would help out there on Saturdays and Sundays, truly a beautiful girl inside and out.

However, Yu Anjing was willful and stubborn, with not such a good mindset.

Thus, the parents of the Yu Family favored Anning over her sister.

But not long ago, the parents of the Yu Family suddenly changed their attitude.

They began to scold and beat Anning, and started to favor Yu Anjing more. No matter what Anning did, it was wrong in their eyes; Anning seemed to do no good, while Yu Anjing could do no wrong.

Seeing this, Xiao Yuan couldn’t help but rub his temples.

He felt the whole matter too strange.

Normally, as long as parents are not blind, as long as they are rational, everyone would favor Anning. But what in the world was going on with the couple from the Yu Family?

Xiao Yuan thought about it for a long time but couldn’t figure it out.

He read further and discovered that the attitudes of two male classmates towards Anning at school were also very strange.

The young master of Hongda Real Estate, Ge Yiming, had a secret crush on Anning since middle school. He always protected her from the shadows but began to bully her not long ago.

Wei Haoxuan, who was in the same class as Anning, also started to subtlety target Anning.

All of this happened too suddenly and was too unexpected.

When Xiao Yuan saw the record stating that both Ge Yiming and Wei Haoxuan might like Anning very much, a sharp glint flashed through his eyes, his right hand clenched tightly, and it took a long time before it relaxed.

Seeing their sudden change of attitude towards Anning, Xiao Yuan slightly narrowed his eyes and let out a cold laugh before shutting the document.

He leaned back in his chair, relaxed, closed his eyes, and pondered for quite a while before standing up.

Xiao Yuan poured himself a glass of wine and sipped it slowly, thinking that no matter why these people’s attitudes had changed, Anning was now under his protection. As long as he was around, he would protect her from being bullied.

Anning was sleeping soundly, and Song Zhenzhen was quietly doing her homework beside her.

She would occasionally look up to ensure Anning was okay before bowing her head down to focus on her homework again.

After a while, Song Zhenzhen’s phone vibrated a few times, she opened it to see a message from her dad asking if she had gone to bed.

Song Zhenzhen hurriedly replied, telling her dad she was about to sleep.

Mrs. Song had just taken a shower and was doing skincare when she saw Mr. Song holding his phone and asked, ”Has Zhenzhen gone to bed?”

Mr. Song smiled, ”She said she’s about to.”

Mrs. Song took her phone and sent Song Zhenzhen a goodnight message.

After putting down the phone, Mrs. Song started to chat with Mr. Song, ”Anning is really a good girl. She’s been to our home before, and I saw she’s very polite and has good grades too. What were her parents thinking, driving out such a good child?”

Mr. Song shook his head, ”Who knows? Anyway, I can’t figure it out at all. Think about it, Zhenzhen has caused quite a bit of trouble from childhood till now, but we have never blamed her, right? Children are still young, after all. Parents should educate them properly. Isn’t every parent’s child their heart and soul? They find it hard to scold them, and a little injury can make them worry for days. Yet they treat their child as nothing.”

”It’s no wonder the child can’t cope.”

Mrs. Song sighed, ”Tomorrow I’ll call Zhenzhen and ask her to talk to Anning. We mustn’t let the child be consumed with worry. What if something happens? How are we to deal with that?”

Having said that, Mrs. Song picked up her phone again, ”I have to mention it in the parents’ group chat, and tell everyone to remind their kids not to say anything to provoke Anning at school.”

”Right, you do that quickly.”

Mrs. Song repeated the situation in the Yu Family in the parents’ group chat, had a brief conversation with the other parents, and urged everyone to remind their own children.
