Journey to Planar World

Since the terrorist incident that struck Seijo High School, and the hospital bombing tragedy that caused over twenty thousand casualties, government institutions and public facilities like hospitals are now heavily guarded by the Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF).

Every individual wishing to enter the hospital area must undergo a strict full-body inspection to ensure they are not carrying any dangerous objects.

There was no other choice.

The main perpetrator of that horrific hospital bombing has still not been found to this day. The Japanese government is now under immense public pressure, urging authorities to immediately find and bring the culprit to justice.

At the same time, the international community has begun to view Japan as a laughingstock.

With two major unsolved cases, Japan has completely lost its status as one of the safest countries in the world.

The impact was instantaneous; the number of overseas tourists dropped drastically, and the tourism business became completely deserted.

In the Minato District, there stood an international and specialist hospital that served as one of the primary referral centers.

People wishing to seek treatment or simply visit sick relatives appeared in a long queue in front of the main entrance, which had been converted into an emergency military checkpoint.

Amidst that long, snaking queue, the figures of Charlie and Mahiru could be seen standing side by side.

Mahiru hugged Charlie’s arm incredibly tightly. Her mood appeared tense, and her eyes kept moving uneasily, scanning the lines of JSDF soldiers standing guard with long-barreled weapons.

”Charlie-kun...” Mahiru looked up, asking in a low voice. ”Is this really going to be alright? What if that horrific situation repeats itself today? I don’t want this hospital to be bombed as well just because that creature is targeting me...”

Feeling the fear of the girl beside him, Charlie gently squeezed Mahiru’s palm to provide a sense of security.

”Calm down, Mahiru. I have already checked the entire structure of this hospital building using Senrigan, and I have confirmed that there isn’t a single bomb planted here.”

He let out a short breath, his gaze dimming slightly.

”The previous incident indeed involved a factor of negligence on my part. I truly did not expect that the enemy would act so ruthlessly without any regard for the lives of innocent people.”

Hearing the youth’s regret, Mahiru immediately rested her head against Charlie’s shoulder, trying to convey her support.

”It wasn’t your fault at all, Charlie-kun. Don’t blame yourself. All of this... everything is the fault of the Abyssal Devourer.”

”Mm.”

Charlie showed a thin smile and nodded slowly, feeling a little comforted by the understanding given by his woman.

Fifteen minutes passed amidst the queue, until it was finally the turn of the two of them to be inspected at the front post.

The inspection procedure implemented by the JSDF truly utilized strict standards just like at an international airport.

Charlie and Mahiru were asked to place all of their belongings, including bags, mobile phones, watches, and even belts, into a plastic bin to be passed through the X-ray scanner.

After that, they were required to walk one by one through the metal detector gate.

As soon as they stepped through it, a JSDF officer in full tactical uniform immediately intercepted them, using a handheld scanner to sweep their entire bodies from head to toe with great meticulousness, ensuring no firearms, knives, or hazardous chemical substances escaped scrutiny.

After confirming the indicator turned green and no alarm sounded, only then did the officer allow the two of them to step into the hospital lobby.

After passing the strict inspection at the entrance, the couple immediately walked toward the registration area.

Charlie took a queue number slip from the automated machine, then guided Mahiru to sit side by side on the row of waiting chairs provided, waiting until their number was called by the electronic voice system.

A hospital is always a crowded and busy public facility, especially in the Minato District.

After waiting for about twenty minutes amidst the hustle and bustle of other patients, the queue number held in Charlie’s hand finally chimed on the digital screen board.

Charlie and Mahiru immediately stood up, walked toward the designated registration counter, and sat on the chairs directly facing the staff member.

A female staff member behind the desk greeted them with a professional, friendly smile.

”Good morning. How can I help you? Could you mention the patient’s complaints and the purpose of today’s examination?”

Charlie reached into his jacket pocket, then handed over the fake identification card that Elena had previously made for him to ease his affairs in this world.

He paused for a moment, clearing his throat softly to mask his awkwardness, before finally speaking in a calm tone of voice.

”I... would like to have a spermiogram examination.”

Hearing that request, the movement of the female staff member’s fingers typing on the computer keyboard instantly stopped for a moment.

She reflexively looked up, staring at the face of the white-haired youth in front of her who was undeniably very handsome, then glanced toward Mahiru—the beautiful young girl sitting next to him with a facial expression that had suddenly blushed red with embarrassment.

In a split second, a flash of pity and sympathy radiated from the female staff member’s eyes, assuming that this well-matched young couple might be facing a marital storm due to fertility issues.

However, as a professional, she quickly hid that expression and resumed her typing.

Charlie, who possessed super sensory faculties, could naturally feel the shift in the other party’s gaze very clearly.

Inevitably, the corner of his eyes twitched faintly as he held back the embarrassment swirling inside his chest.

A spermiogram itself is a laboratory test procedure to evaluate a man’s fertility level as well as his reproductive quality in depth.

This medical examination will later measure various vital parameters, ranging from fluid volume, concentration, motility, morphology, to the vitality level of the sperm cells themselves based on official guidelines issued by the World Health Organization.

This laboratory analysis is generally highly recommended by doctors to evaluate infertility issues in couples, check post-vasectomy success, or simply monitor the overall health of the male reproductive system.

Then, why did someone like Charlie, who possessed a physical constitution far above that of humans, suddenly come to a modern hospital to perform a spermiogram?

Clearly, there was only one answer: he wanted to know with medical certainty whether he was infertile or not.

It was entirely normal that lately Charlie had begun to doubt the biological capacity of his own body.

After all, looking back, he had completely lost count of how many times he had been involved in intense sexual activities together with Ais, Aishia, Kei, and most recently, Mahiru.

In every burning intimacy session together with those girls, Charlie had always released all of his fluid directly inside their wombs without protection.

Yet, strangely... up to this very second, not a single one of those girls had shown any signs of pregnancy!

Inevitably, this matter began to envelop Charlie in a deep sense of worry.

”Alright, I have finished processing the registration documents.” Said the female staff member, breaking Charlie’s daydream. She printed out a medical treatment slip, then handed it over to him along with his identification card while pointing toward the right corridor. ”Please take this sheet directly to the specialist laboratory area on the second floor. The staff there will guide you through the sample collection process.”

Charlie and Mahiru stepped in tandem up the stairs toward the second floor, following the directional signs that brought them to the specialist laboratory corridor.

At the end of the hallway, the atmosphere of the room felt far more quiet and private compared to the hustle and bustle of the registration lobby downstairs.

The moment he pushed open the glass door of the laboratory, Charlie’s gaze immediately swept across the waiting area, which was designed minimalistically with soft lighting.

There, three other couples were already sitting far apart, creating a safe distance for the sake of each other’s psychological comfort.

From a brief physical observation, the men waiting in the queue in that room averaged over 30 years of age—mature faces that seemed to carry the weight of anxiety typical of couples who had long yearned for offspring.

The presence of Charlie and Mahiru instantly broke the visual silence of the place.

Charlie, whose physical growth was stagnant at the golden age of 18 with a handsome visage, stood beside Mahiru, whose natural beauty still radiated the pure aura of a high school girl.

This teenage couple looked incredibly conspicuous, as if they had lost their way and mistakenly stepped into the wrong room.

Despite noticing the arrival of these two unusual young people, the reserved nature of Japanese people and their deep respect for the privacy of others meant that not a single one of the couples there dared to stare for too long, let alone start a conversation with a stranger.

They all quickly averted their gazes back to their phone screens or the health brochures in their respective hands, pretending to be indifferent for the sake of maintaining each other’s dignity.

Sensing that atmosphere laden with awkwardness, Mahiru slowly brought her body closer, slipping her fingers between Charlie’s, then gripping them tightly inside the youth’s jacket pocket.

Charlie glanced toward Mahiru, giving a thin, reassuring smile as if saying that everything would be fine.

With calm steps, Charlie guided her toward a row of empty chairs in the corner of the room.

The two of them sat side by side in silence, staring toward the main laboratory door, ready to wait for their names to be called by the medical staff to uncover the answer to the biological doubts that had been weighing on Charlie’s mind all this time.
