Journey to Planar World

*DING-DONG!*

Standing calmly in front of the door, Charlie pressed the doorbell embedded in the wall. It didn’t take long for the silence of the corridor to break.

”Wait a moment~”

*TAP-TAP-TAP!*

From inside the room, a woman’s melodious voice rang out in a cheerful tone, followed by the sound of hurried footsteps approaching the door.

*CLICK!*

The sound of the safety lock turning echoed, and a second later, the door swung open, revealing the figure behind it.

Standing right in front of Charlie was Elena.

However, the sight caused Charlie to hold his breath for a moment; Elena was wearing only a single white towel wrapped around her curvaceous body, with traces of steam from a warm bath still visibly wafting thinly from her smooth skin.

(Hm? Still not finished getting ready? I deliberately gave her enough of a grace period before coming so she could be fully dressed. Haaah... No matter how strong or great a woman is, the business of applying makeup and getting ready always takes an absurd amount of time,) Charlie lamented in his heart.

He felt a bit annoyed seeing Elena looking so relaxed, as if she didn’t have the slightest bit of shame appearing so minimally dressed in front of a man.

”Ara~ it’s you, Charlie. Come in, there’s no one else but me inside here.”

There was a slight hint of disappointment in her voice; Elena had hoped to see the typical bashful reaction of a pubescent teenager from Charlie, but the man instead stared at her with a weary, flat gaze.

”Excuse me.”

As soon as Elena opened the door fully, Charlie stepped inside. He took the guest slippers offered to him, changed his shoes, and followed her further into the apartment unit, which still felt very new.

”Sit wherever you like.”

Elena pointed casually toward the living room sofa before sauntering into the kitchen. She took a bottle of orange juice from the fridge and served it on the table.

”I just moved in yesterday, so I haven’t had a chance to shop for much. This is all that’s available.”

”It’s fine, this is more than enough.”

However, Charlie’s composure was tested once again. Elena sat directly across from him in a very provocative manner, crossing her legs without a care.

Regardless of the fact that the position made her ”mysterious triangle” area nearly exposed openly behind the short wrap of the towel, Elena continued to act as if everything were normal.

Charlie could only stare at the scene with an expression of disbelief.

”Hey, Elena.”

”What is it?” Elena asked while blinking her beautiful eyes, appearing innocent yet seductive.

”Don’t you think you should put on more appropriate clothing before we start talking about serious matters?”

Hearing the reprimand, Elena stared at him for a moment in silence, before finally a small, amused laugh broke from her lips.

”Pfftt—hahaha! I thought you were a gay man, Charlie. Turns out you don’t lack desire, it’s just that your self-control is at an outrageous level.”

”Ah, I’m the one with the body and I don’t mind, so why are you protesting? Just consider it special fan service for my colleague~”

Charlie: ”😐”

Seeing a figure with ”Masha’s” appearance behaving so far from her original gentle and virtuous character felt a bit strange to Charlie, but he accepted it as a common occurrence.

After all, Saviors like them were merely using ”skins” or physical vessels. Their original souls and personalities remained intact, unaffected by the original nature of the body’s owner.

In many fanfiction stories with a template theme, the protagonist usually loses their sense of self and slowly turns into exactly like their chosen template character.

For example, if someone has a Gilgamesh template, they would become arrogant and haughty, looking down on everyone.

However, the templates provided by Gaia and Alaya were different. Saviors retained their original personalities fully without needing to worry about unconscious personality shifts.

Charlie remained Charlie, and Elena remained Elena behind the beautiful face of Maria Mikhailovna Kujou.

”You found my place easily, Charlie. That must be because of Senrigan, right? The eye technique from the Boruto series that allows the user to be nearly omniscient.”

Elena adjusted her sitting position, not at all disturbed by her towel wrap, which was becoming increasingly loose.

”The Boruto storyline is indeed rotten; many fans consider it a failed work. Even so, I have to admit the techniques that appear in that later era are outrageous. Their power truly breaks the balance, making it as if the conventional ninjutsu we used to know looks like garbage.”

”...”

While sipping the cold orange juice in his hand, Charlie remained silent, listening to Elena speak. However, his thoughts drifted elsewhere.

(Did reincarnating as a Devil make this woman truly lose her sense of shame? I remember, Rias Gremory even slept naked with the main character in bed even though they hadn’t officially met. Not to mention the moments where bra-less breasts were visible all the time there...)

He could only conclude that Elena’s extreme openness was likely influenced by the norms of the High School DxD world, which were indeed very loose regarding physical modesty.

”Oops. It seems I’ve been the only one talking.” Elena blinked, and then looked at him with a gaze that began to sharpen. ”So, Charlie. Why did you come to see me this early?”

Seeing Elena finally starting to show signs of seriousness, Charlie did not want to beat around the bush anymore. He placed his drink on the table with a soft clink.

”Tell me about your experience fighting the Parasite-Type Abyssal Devourer. I remember your first Quest was facing this type of enemy with Frank, wasn’t it?”

For a moment, Elena showed a mixed expression of nostalgia.

”Ah, that was a long time ago... It’s surprising you still remember that detail, Charlie.” She sighed softly.

”In the Planar World of Aho Girl, Frank and I were truly given a hard time fighting that enemy. After all, it was the first time we carried out a Quest. We, who were still very green and inexperienced back then, almost let the protagonist and heroine be killed by the enemy’s hands.”

Elena paused for a moment, a wry smile playing on her reddish lips.

”Even though we eventually succeeded in protecting Hanabatake Yoshiko and Akutsu Akuru, our carelessness still came at a high cost. Several supporting characters died during the assassination attempt orchestrated by that Parasite-Type Abyssal Devourer.”

Elena’s gaze drifted, as if counting the list of her past failures.

”Hanabatake Yoshie, Shiina Kuroko, Kurosaki Ryuuichi, and several others who happened to be at the scene... They all died because we were too late to realize how cunning the Parasite-Type’s methods were.”

”Listen, Charlie.” Elena began with a tone that was now much heavier, losing the trace of her previous teasing tone. ”The way the Parasite-Type Abyssal Devourer works is by totally manipulating and controlling others. They don’t attack physically in their true form, but rather crawl inside a human body and turn their host into nothing more than a lifeless puppet.”

She raised her palm, folding her fingers one by one.

”The enemy has a capacity limit of controlling a maximum of five hosts simultaneously at once. In theory, the way to eliminate it sounds simple: as long as you manage to finish off those five hosts, the Parasite-Type Abyssal Devourer hiding inside them will also die.”

Elena paused her sentence, staring at Charlie with a very serious look.

”But don’t misunderstand. Those two BBC men who tried to harass Mahiru and you handled yesterday were not their direct hosts. Parasites won’t waste their main control slots just on low-class pawns like that. They are much cleverer in choosing their vessels.”

Charlie adopted a serious expression. ”Explain in more detail.”
