Journey to Planar World

To Shiina Mahiru, insincerity and falsehood were the two things she hated most in this world.

The roots of that hatred were planted deep within her dark past.

Born from a cold, political marriage entirely devoid of a single shred of love, Mahiru had to grow up witnessing her parents loathe each other.

They ignored her presence and abandoned her to solitude, yet ironically, they would instantly pretend to be a harmonious and affectionate family the moment they were in front of the public to protect their reputation and social status.

That disgusting charade successfully turned Mahiru completely sick of any form of artificiality.

At school, Mahiru did indeed always display a self-image that was perfect, elegant, and friendly to anyone, to the point that the entire school dubbed her the ”Angel”. However, she knew very well that she did all of that merely as a self-defense mechanism, not out of pure sincerity from the bottom of her heart.

At the same time, she also knew that the majority of people who tried to approach her were only interested in her beautiful physical appearance or her high social status, not because they genuinely and sincerely wanted to cherish her for who she was.

Therefore, Charlie’s presence brought a massive emotional impact to Mahiru.

The way that man treated her as just an ordinary teenage girl, his honest and blunt attitude without any pretense, along with the fact that Charlie never once intended to take advantage of her kindness, slowly and completely altered Mahiru’s entire impression of the man.

As a result of never receiving a proper outpouring of affection from her parents since childhood, Mahiru’s true self and her way of expressing emotions manifested in the form of acts of service.

She could only feel that she was valuable and held meaning in this world when she was able to cook delicious food, tend to the house, and help others in need.

Unsurprisingly, ever since they started living together under one roof, Charlie instantly became the primary object whom Mahiru served with the absolute utmost of her abilities.

The girl firmly forbade Charlie from helping her in the kitchen while cooking, and she even insisted on washing all of the man’s clothes every day under the pretext that it was her duty as the manager of their household.

The subsequent days passed in relative peace.

Occasionally, danger still lurked; several people under the subtle control of the Abyssal Devourer attempted to carry out reckless actions to harm Mahiru on various occasions. However, all those potential crises were always prevented and suppressed very cleanly by Charlie, who covertly protected her from within the shadows.

On the other side, a scenario that was similar yet distinct was also happening to Fujimiya Amane.

The lazy young man who chose to live passively like a ’salted fish’ day in and day out had actually experienced several strange events that nearly put his life in jeopardy on the streets.

Fortunately for Amane, he was still able to go through his boring, normal routine without realizing in the slightest that death had briefly stalked him, thanks to Elena’s promptness in successfully handling all those invisible crises with seamless execution.

Without realizing it, one week had already passed since the two Saviors set foot in the World of Otonari Tenshi-sama.

So far, their hard work was beginning to bear fruit; Charlie and Elena had managed to eliminate two out of the five main host bodies possessed by the Parasitic-Type Abyssal Devourer.

Seijo High School.

The bell signaling the start of class had rung a few minutes ago.

Inside one of the classrooms, the students were already seated neatly at their respective desks, chatting quietly while waiting for the arrival of the first-period subject teacher.

TAP... TAP... TAP...

The sound of constant footsteps echoed from the direction of the corridor, slowly approaching their classroom.

Shortly after, the sliding door of the classroom opened wide.

Instantly, the atmosphere inside the room turned dead silent; every student present stared with wide, shocked eyes because the figure stepping inside was not a teacher they usually recognized at all.

That person was a young man with silver-white hair styled in a distinctive asymmetrical cut, where the right fringe was intentionally allowed to grow slightly longer to cover a part of his face.

His pair of light blue eyes seemed to sparkle as beautifully as a clear summer sky, blending perfectly with his sharp, calm, and extraordinarily handsome facial features.

His slender yet sturdy and athletic body was wrapped very snugly in a neutral-colored, long-sleeved collared shirt, radiating a powerful aura of mature charisma.

Among the dozens of students frozen inside that classroom, there were two people who instantly recognized exactly who the young man currently strolling casually toward the teacher’s podium was.

”Yawn...”

While propping up his cheek with one hand with his signature lazy expression, Amane stared straight ahead.

In his heart, he felt highly curious and bewildered as to why the man he occasionally ran into by chance in his apartment corridor could now actually show up at his school.

Meanwhile, at another seating corner, the reaction shown by Mahiru was far greater.

Her pair of eyes rounded perfectly and her shocked expression looked incredibly cute, contrasting with her usual elegant image.

Fortunately for Mahiru, not a single one of her classmates noticed her anomalous expression because the focus of all the students right now had completely been sucked entirely by the breathtaking appearance of the young man at the podium.

(What... what in the world is Charlie-kun doing here?! I didn’t know anything about this at all!) Mahiru thought, screaming in panic inside her heart.

Naturally, the person who had just strolled inside so casually was Charlie.

With a calm motion, Charlie took a piece of chalk from the desk drawer, then wrote his name with a neat and firm handwriting on the clean surface of the blackboard.

After placing his chalk back down, he turned around, facing the entire contents of the class with a faint, charming smile.

”Good morning, everyone. Starting from today, my name is Charlie Avalon. All of you can call me Charlie-sensei.”

Charlie introduced himself with a tone of voice that sounded highly friendly.

”For the foreseeable future, I will be the one responsible for teaching the Biology subject, replacing Sato-sensei, who was forced to take an extended leave of absence and return to his hometown to care for his severely ill mother.”

Charlie cast his gaze across every corner of the room, observing the faces of his students who still appeared spellbound before resuming the introductory speech typical of a new teacher in a Japanese school.

”Since this is our first meeting and I am also relatively new to the environment here at Seijo High School, I ask for the assistance and cooperation of all of you so that our teaching and learning process can run smoothly.”

”I hope we can understand one another and pass this semester well.”

He looked at the whole class with a casual, warm smile.

”Alright, before the teaching session begins, since this is my first day of teaching, please go ahead if any among you would like to ask questions about me so that we can get to know each other better.”

”Don’t hesitate, just ask whatever you want to know.”

”...”

The classroom fell completely silent for a brief moment lasting a few seconds.

However, not long after, the atmosphere instantly exploded into absolute excitement, particularly from the rows of desks belonging to the female students who had been holding themselves back until now.

”Me, Sensei! I want to ask!” a female student in the middle row exclaimed while raising her hand with absolute enthusiasm. ”How old is Sensei exactly? Sensei’s face looks incredibly young, as though you’re still the same age as us!”

”True, Sensei! You look more like a transfer student than a teacher!” chimed in another female student in the corner of the class, triggering loud laughter from her friends.

Not wanting to lose the momentum, a girl in the front row joined in with the question they most wanted to know, ”And then, does Sensei already have a girlfriend? Or... could it be that you’re already married?!”

The barrage of questions typical of high school girls in the situation of a handsome teacher’s arrival kept bouncing off one another, turning the classroom atmosphere suddenly like a celebrity press conference room.

Charlie merely chuckled with amusement seeing that exploding enthusiasm. He raised his hand briefly, gesturing for them to quiet down a little before beginning to answer those questions one by one.

”An interesting question.” he said while sporting a mysterious smile. ”First, regarding age. Even though my physical body looks like a 17 or 18-year-old kid, my actual age has already passed the thirty mark. So, I am much older than this outward appearance of mine.”

”Ehhh?! That’s such a lie!”

”No way! Sensei must be joking!”

Shouts of disbelief instantly echoed.

With skin that clean and facial features that fresh, it was impossible for them to believe that their new teacher was already in his 30s.

”Then for the second question.” Charlie continued, intentionally providing a dramatic pause. ”As for a girlfriend? Yes, I already have one.”

That honest answer instantly crushed the morale of many female students inside the classroom. A collective sigh of disappointment was simultaneously heard from the female population, shattering the fictitious hopes that had just sprouted in their heads.

However, the biggest impact of that sentence was instead felt by Mahiru, who sat quietly at her desk.

Hearing Charlie admit to the existence of a girlfriend, Mahiru felt an unfamiliar pain suddenly throb inside her chest.

Gently squeezing the pen in her grasp, she stared down at her desk with an uncomfortable feeling whose cause she herself did not realize.

Why did her heart have to feel tight just because that man had a girlfriend?

In the midst of the female students’ disappointed silence, Charlie spoke up once again with a serious facial expression.

”To be more precise, I currently have three girlfriends.”

Instantly, the entire room froze.

The reaction of the female students shifted drastically; they collectively assumed that those words were merely a witty joke from the new teacher to comfort them in their disappointment.

”Hahaha! Sensei is good at joking!”

”I almost had a heart attack! There’s no way anyone has three girlfriends at the same time in this day and age!”

However, a different reaction came from the rows of male students. They did not consider it a joke. For the men, the aura of confidence and handsomeness radiating from Charlie was absolute proof.

They immediately labeled this new biology teacher of theirs as a heavyweight playboy.

”Hey, watch out! He’s definitely an international playboy!” Itsuki whispered, half-shouting to his desk mate, which was immediately nodded along to by the other male students. ”You girls need to be careful with this wolf in sheep’s clothing!”

Charlie only responded to that accusation by shrugging his shoulders nonchalantly, letting them speculate as much as they pleased.

After that, he continued to answer various other questions from the students who were still curious—ranging from hobbies, the origins of his Western-sounding name, to the reasons why he chose to teach biology—making that first hour pass by with complete warmth and familiarity before they truly commenced the lesson material.
