Sweet Rebirth: The Little Healer

’If someone came in and saw them like this, it would be so embarrassing.’

Zhao Nuanyue opened her mouth and gently nipped Hua Yusen on the nose. ”I’ll make you something delicious! Stop letting your mind wander.”

”Sigh... you won’t let me have a taste, and you won’t let my mind wander. Are you trying to turn me into a monk?” Hua Yusen lamented. He hugged Zhao Nuanyue and whined like a petulant boy denied his candy.

Zhao Nuanyue was about to say something more when she suddenly heard footsteps in the hallway. A glance at the clock told her it was almost eight.

’Oh no, Doctor Wu is about to do his rounds.’

Zhao Nuanyue said hurriedly, ”Let me go, Doctor Wu is coming.”

”Alright.” Hua Yusen released Zhao Nuanyue. ’He’d have plenty of time to have fun with Nuanyue after Doctor Wu’s examination was over!’

Zhao Nuanyue scrambled off the hospital bed, slipped on her slippers, and dashed into the bathroom.

Seeing Zhao Nuanyue’s flustered retreat, Hua Yusen grinned wickedly.

’It’s so good to be awake and with the person I love.’

Doctor Wu came in and, seeing Hua Yusen was still awake, asked with a smile, ”Mr. Hua, you seem to be in great spirits!”

”I am!” Hua Yusen beamed. ”Thanks to your excellent care, Doctor Wu, I feel much better. Just now, I started to get some feeling back in my legs. I can feel some strength in them, and I can move them.”

”Oh!” Doctor Wu said, surprised. ”That’s fantastic! Move them for me, let’s see.”

Hua Yusen moved his legs, lifting them. He smiled and said, ”I think I can get out of bed and walk.”

”Right. Let me help you. Try to get down and walk,” Doctor Wu said eagerly, impatient to see Hua Yusen stand up and make a full recovery.

Thanks to his ’warm-up’ with Zhao Nuanyue just now, Hua Yusen’s legs already felt quite limber. With Doctor Wu’s support, he stood up and took a few steps.

”You can let go now, Doctor Wu. I can walk on my own.” It felt so good to be standing on the ground. Hua Yusen could feel the strength and agility in his legs—he had truly made a full recovery.

Seeing that Hua Yusen was walking steadily, Doctor Wu let him go.

Without Doctor Wu’s support, Hua Yusen stood and walked on his own. His steps grew steadier and faster. After a dozen paces, he was already walking as if he were a perfectly healthy person.

Doctor Wu was overjoyed. ”A miracle! This is a medical miracle. I can’t explain why you fell into a coma, nor do I know how you managed to recover so well and so quickly after being unconscious for so long, but I’m confident I’ll find the reason eventually. For now, though, I must congratulate you on your recovery.”

”Thank you, Doctor Wu,” Hua Yusen said with a smile. ”Miracles don’t just happen. It must have been the treatment from you and Doctor Sun, along with the care from my family and my fiancée. They gave me something I couldn’t bear to stay asleep for, so I woke up.”

”Heh, that’s as good an explanation as any for now,” Doctor Wu chuckled. ”Alright, lie back down on the bed. I’m going to do another examination and make a few notes.”

”Okay.” Hua Yusen obediently lay down and waited for Doctor Wu to examine him.

After Doctor Wu finished his thorough examination, he gave a few more instructions and then left the room.

The moment Doctor Wu was gone, Hua Yusen bolted the door.

Hua Yusen walked to the bathroom door and said with a grin, ”Little Nuanyue, you can come out now.”

Only then did Zhao Nuanyue open the door, tiptoeing out.

Zhao Nuanyue pushed Hua Yusen away with her hands and whispered, ”Calm... Calm down, watch your legs!”

”My legs are fine now, too!” Hua Yusen found her words amusing. ”Look, I can carry you and still walk around as if nothing was wrong.”

Zhao Nuanyue covered her face. ’How did I not even notice that?’

Still, seeing Hua Yusen back on his feet and full of energy made Zhao Nuanyue incredibly happy.

”This is wonderful, just wonderful,” Zhao Nuanyue said excitedly. ”My Hua is finally healthy again. Does this mean you can be discharged soon?”

”That depends on what the doctor says!” Hua Yusen chuckled.

Zhao Nuanyue shot him a glare. Hearing such sweet nothings from the man she loved made her heart flutter, but for the sake of his health, she couldn’t give in to her whims. She said, ”Aren’t you afraid you’re still too weak?”

’He might not have been awake for long, but what man would stand for being called weak!’

”Whether I’m weak or not... you of all people should know,” Hua Yusen said with a roguish grin. ”Or, maybe you don’t. In that case, we’ll just have to test it out later.”

Zhao Nuanyue didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. ’Where had her tall, mighty Hua gone?’

’He was always so serious, cold, and stern in front of everyone else. How did he become like this with her?’

”Thank you for staying by my side while I was unconscious, for encouraging me, and for never giving up on me.” Hua Yusen’s playful expression faded, his gaze turning serious and focused as he looked at Zhao Nuanyue.

Hearing this, Zhao Nuanyue’s gaze softened as she looked back at him. ”You’re the man I love. I’ve given you my heart, and I’ll stay by your side for the rest of my life.”
