The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1273: Chapter 1273: Defeating the Enemy in a Single Move

The students responsible for guarding the city gate were very hesitant.

Behind Ji You, He Yu and Liu Jia kept a straight face the whole time without uttering a word, neither dared to make a sound for fear of exposing themselves. To appear normal, He Yu and Liu Jia kept their eyes forward, following closely behind Ji You.

The appearance of the three was utterly disheveled, with dirt-streaked faces and filthy clothes. The leading guard, watching this scene, felt a bit curious about where these three had returned from and how they ended up like this.

At this moment, a chunk of mud fell from Ji You’s face. She casually raised her hand to wipe it off and faced the guard’s odd gaze, keeping a stern expression as she said, ”Don’t be surprised, this is just our appropriate disguise.”

”Oh—” The guard suddenly understood, ”I thought you had already fought a battle on the frontline.”

Ji You chuckled bitterly, shaking her head, ”Actually, we didn’t have a chance to fight. We were lurking all the way and when we were about to approach the frontline, we discovered some unusual spots, so we immediately retreated, which made us look more bedraggled than expected.”

Ji You explained briefly, and then shifted her tone to slightly anxious, ”Brother, we can’t afford any delays.”

Ji You spoke and acted without any hint of difficulty or hesitation on her face, displaying pure natural behavior, which led the lead guard to think for a moment and say, ”I’ll discuss this with the team leader.”

Ji You was delighted and said, ”Please do.”

Soon after, the boy communicated briefly with Shaun, and Ji You heard Shaun’s voice coming from the communication device on the boy’s chest, ”Let her in.”

The boy said, ”Quickly go inside.”

Ji You quickly led the people to go inside, then the boy suddenly said, ”Wang Rumei and Xie Haisheng shouldn’t go in for now, stay with us to guard the city gate.”

He Yu and Liu Jia halted their steps.

Upon hearing this, Ji You showed no dissatisfaction, instead she waved, ”Both of you stay here on duty. Remember to stay alert and prepare to fight at any moment if you notice anything unusual.”

The boy, hearing Ji You’s reminder, thought this Ji You classmate handles things indeed thoroughly and thoughtfully.

Liu Jia and He Yu nodded, ”We’ll stay right here.”

Ji You: ”Mm.”

After that, Ji You lifted her foot, hurriedly heading toward Shaun’s location. To Ji You’s surprise, Shaun wasn’t in the signal tower, but inside a stone house meant for resting in the camp.

Ji You had already discreetly mapped out the signal tower’s location, and this time she deliberately bypassed the signal tower’s spot, keeping her gaze straight while crossing the stone house that housed the signal tower, when she suddenly noticed the people guarding the signal tower were Li Yun and Bai Hui.

Old acquaintances.

Ji You was a bit pleased and waved directly at the two people. When Li Yun and Bai Hui saw Ji You, they were also shocked; the three exchanged glances briefly and then each resumed their respective roles.

Ji You met Shaun, beside him was the silent girl Nina. In front of the two was a pile of materials, all sorts, seemingly working on some design. Shaun’s current state wasn’t very tense; he didn’t seem too concerned about possible crisis, which made Ji You anxious. She said, ”Leader, I think there’s something I must tell you.”

Shaun furrowed his eyebrows, ”Speak.”

Ji You deliberately repeated, ”I think we’ve been deceived.”

Shaun’s eyes darkened instantly, ”What’s the situation?”

Ji You said, ”Could it be the enemy is attacking us from two directions?”

Shaun furrowed his eyebrows, ”At this stage, indeed it is.” One direction is near the border river where Shaun dispatched a large number of troops. The border river acts as a barrier that anyone attempting to cross must overcome, serving as a natural shield for their side.

Enemy attacks near the border river are scattered and consist of small enemy groups, roughly 2-3 people. Their formation seems well-placed but their strength isn’t formidable; Shaun arranged personnel to concentrate fire and they can easily eliminate them.

That’s one.

The second is the original location of the Seventh Team. Without having to gauge intelligence or receive real-time information feedback, just from the sound coming from that direction, Shaun knew a battle was erupting there.

With the lips gone, the teeth feel cold~

It’s the closest place to the Sixth Camp; if the enemy successfully encircles from there, Shaun would be caught off guard. Therefore, Shaun has already sent others to defend, and Ji You was one of them.

Boom~

Buzz~

Bang~

...

In the ears, the sound of roaring and fighting continued, Shaun furrowed his eyebrows and said, ”You say we’ve been deceived?”

There are two directions in total; facts prove that the Seventh Team’s location should have been the enemy’s chosen direction. Shaun sent substantial combat power there to block the gap, where’s the error?

Tricked?

It shouldn’t be possible.

However, seeing Ji You’s assertive tone, Shaun was momentarily undecided.

The girl Nina had been crouching in the corner handling materials at her feet, occasionally raising her head throughout, then swiftly lowering it again, proceeding to sort through various materials.

Ji You furrowed brows: [Nina appears to be continuously dealing with signal tower materials, but she once mentioned she specializes in heavy weaponry, which suggests what Nina says might be false.]

Ji You covertly observed the two, then stepped closer to Shaun, ”My basis derives from analyzing the enemy attacking directions. Shaun, you might want to look at this.”

Before the words were out, Ji You suddenly pulled out a folding knife.

The folding knife expanded in an instant, Shaun felt a flash of white light crossing his eyes, followed by an extreme pain in his abdomen. Shaun let out a cry, unable to scream in pain, the sound abruptly stopped!

Bang!

Shaun’s body collapsed onto the ground softly, with widened pupils and a slightly open mouth, an expression of dying unjustly.

One move!

Having killed Shaun with one strike, Ji You didn’t stop. She turned her head and her eyes locked onto Nina who was handling materials. Nina found it odd due to Shaun’s sudden cry. She raised her head and met Ji You’s deep gaze.

Nina: ”Ji... Ji You classmate?”

Ji You smiled, ”Nina, you like heavy weapons, how about I give you this crossbow?”

Nina: ”...”

Nina slightly lifted her foot, suddenly preparing to rush outside—

Ji You’s folding knife suddenly extended, slashing through.

Nina, despite being a physically robust student, didn’t lack strength, but the moment her spiritual power seemed to freeze scared her profoundly.

She couldn’t move at all.

In a brief instant, regaining control over her body, Nina bolted.

From behind, Ji You’s haunting voice echoed: ”Hey, where are you going? I’ve painstakingly brought you a weapon, why are you running?”

Nina: ”...”
