The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1272: Chapter 1272: Withdrawal

The orders Ji You received were to head to the Seventh Team’s base, the center of the battle outbreak. Yet, Ji You, accompanied by He Yu and Liu Jia, was heading to—

Shaun’s base center.

This—

Liu Jia was genuinely puzzled and asked, ”Ji You, have we mistaken the direction?”

”Mistaken the direction?” Ji You raised an eyebrow, smiled, and said, ”No.”

Liu Jia and He Yu were stunned.

Ji You squinted and said, ”Our direction and target have always been the center of the base.”

But at this moment, the base center has Shaun, Nina... and several powerful students defending it. The entire base, due to the signal tower’s presence, is as secure as a fort. Now rushing there, it’s hard to do anything significant, isn’t it? Liu Jia couldn’t make sense of it and said, ”If we head to the base center now, aren’t we walking right into a trap?”

”Why say so much?” He Yu glanced at Liu Jia and said, ”Just follow Ji You’s lead.”

Someone like Ji You surely wouldn’t make useless efforts?

He Yu knew time was tight, and her mindset evolved with the time spent beside Ji You. Her trust in Ji You inexplicably rose to a strong level she herself overlooked.

Anyway, she trusted Ji You as she trusted herself.

Therefore, He Yu said no more and stepped up to follow Ji You.

Liu Jia saw this and didn’t delay, quickly catching up.

Ji You said, ”Later, just act accordingly. Really unsure what to do? Then stay silent.”

Liu Jia felt his cheeks flush slightly. Ever since he met Ji You and joined her actions, he played the silent type due to a lack of wit, failing to coordinate with Ji You...

Now, he had to continue playing this role.

Fortunately, being the silent type meant saying nothing, just following orders.

Liu Jia felt slightly more confident.

Ji You made a silent gesture, and then the three of them dashed towards the base center without any cover, directly running towards the base—

Outside the screen:

Students witnessing this were all baffled about what Ji You was up to.

”What is she intending to do?”

”Destroy the signal tower?”

”Or ruin Shaun’s stronghold?”

”I feel the possibility of destroying the signal tower or stealing its main equipment is greater. But—”

”But! If she’s planning something like this, why not sneak and infiltrate?”

”Exactly, clearly up to no good, why dare to brazenly run over?”

”Running back to Shaun now is equal to openly defying his orders, yet she’s not afraid to die?”

”Sitting and waiting to see how she explains it!”

”Only three of them, even if Ji You has extraordinary combat power, He Yu and Liu Jia are typical weaklings. Dreaming of taking down Shaun and his men while dragging two burdens... dreaming.”

...

The barrage was filled with confused chatter, bursting like snowflakes after Ji You and her team set out.

He Yu and Liu Jia also felt puzzled, walking with a guilty conscience. But casting a glance at Ji You, their uneasy hearts inexplicably calmed down.

Following Ji You, might as well remain silent throughout.

Their previous hiding place was about 2 miles from Shaun’s base, and the three rushed, it took less than 10 minutes. Ji You quickly led; He Yu and Liu Jia bit their teeth, clinging tightly behind her, avoiding lagging.

Rounding a small hill, they saw the entrance to the base.

At this moment, the guards atop the walls spotted Ji You and her teammates. In fact, they hadn’t even gotten close yet when they fell into the sight of the lead guard. The guard closed his simple binoculars and said to his fellow prepared to act: ”Hold on, it’s Ji You.”

The other teammate asked, ”Why are they suddenly back?”

The lead guard said, ”Temporarily unknown, report to Shaun immediately.”

”Okay.”

Soon, the guards reported the news.

Shaun, hearing Ji You and her teammates came back, frowned in surprise: ”Wasn’t she sent to the Seventh Team’s base?” Did Ji You understand his intention to let her lead the charge, clear the path, and remove obstacles?

Guard asked, ”Captain, let them in?”

Shaun thought for a moment and said, ”Ask about the situation first.”

The lead guard received the message and immediately said, ”Hold them, ask about the situation.”

...

Approaching the gate, Ji You’s pace slightly slowed. He Yu and Liu Jia were already panting heavily, genuinely exhausted, not feigned or purposely acting for the enemy; truly worn out.

Ji You suddenly stopped, looking at the closed gate. She raised her head and shouted towards the wall, ”Brother, hurry and open the door, I have urgent matters to report to the captain.”

The main gate didn’t open, but a small side gate pushed open from the inside, a figure emerged. Ji You immediately recognized the leader from the guards, her eyes beaming with surprise:

”Hey! I have urgent news for the captain, please grant me passage.” Ji You jumped up, looking anxious like ants on a hot pan. The lead guard said, ”Ji You, what’s the matter? You can tell me, I’ll report to the captain immediately.”

Ji You listened, furrowing her brows.

The lead guard maintained patience, showing no sign of urgency.

Ji You patted her head, showing frustration, but quickly regained composure, speaking with deliberate calm: ”It’s like this, from my observations, I have a rather frightening hypothesis, one that carries at least a 60% probability. So, I feel I must personally report this to Captain Shaun.”

After speaking once, yet saying nothing.

The lead guard said, ”What’s the hypothesis?”

Ji You steadied her breath and said, ”I believe we might be deceived. The enemy’s disruptions now may be all a diversion, possibly with the ultimate aim—”

Then, Ji You abruptly paused.

second.

seconds.

seconds.

...

Lead guard: ”???”

Ji You firmed her face, ”This, I must tell the captain personally. Please help relay this, the battlefield shifts swiftly; any delay could lead to unrecoverable consequence. I wish for prompt discussion with the captain.”
