The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1269: Chapter 1269: Sowing Discord

Shaun did not communicate the matter privately discussed with Wei Yun to anyone else, not even to Lester whom he trusted, nor to the girl who was skilled in heavy weaponry, or the delicate-looking guy... none of them knew.

Once the communication ended, Shaun cut the connection and stepped out of the signal tower.

Then, he came face to face with Lester, the two blonde-haired, blue-eyed guys, randomly placed in the same squad, Lester agreed to support Shaun after Shaun subdued him.

Lester conceded defeat as he was less skilled.

The relationship between warriors is actually quite simple, as long as you’re stronger than him, he’ll acknowledge and respect you.

Seeing Shaun looking at him, Lester blinked and said, ”Shaun, you finally came out, I have something to discuss with you.”

Shaun slightly frowned, ”Lester, you should stay at your post.”

Lester laughed and said, ”Shaun, what I want to say to you is this: I think it’s better for me to be at the frontline rather than staying at the rear, or, simply swap my position with Ji You’s. I think, at crucial moments, I’m more reliable.”

Shaun shook his head, ”No.”

Lester: ”Hey, mate, you should trust me, I’m more dependable than that Ji You who popped up out of nowhere, you should give the more important position to me.”

Shaun firmly said, ”No, go back to your spot.”

Lester’s face turned a little bitter, saying, ”I don’t think I can really perform well, otherwise, why don’t I swap places with Nina?”

Nina is that silent girl, sparing with words.

Nina was standing right next to Shaun at this time, upon hearing Lester attempting to seize her position, she remained indifferent, seeming completely unconcerned.

Shaun said, ”Lester, I solemnly state again, my current arrangement is the best configuration, or else, you can leave my team.”

This statement was severe.

Lester, hearing this, got a bit angry but considering the imminent battle, he restrained his temper.

Then.

Lester returned to his position, where he was standing guard together with Wang Xin, who went by the name Chen Junxiu, next to a stone house in the base. Upon seeing Lester return, Wang Xin said, ”I told you, don’t go to Captain, he surely won’t agree to let you change positions.”

Lester glared at him angrily but didn’t respond.

He was truly upset because, according to his thinking, he was responsible for negotiating cooperation with squads 4 and 5, not only succeeded but also roped in squads 8 and 9, which was a major achievement.

But the result?

The result was Shaun sidelined him just because he openly showed dissent towards Ji You.

Guarding the stone house?

Although this stone house is important, housing the main signal tower, and guarding it caters to everyone in the team and even affects the outcome of this competition, yet! All in all, it doesn’t deny the fact that Lester’s current job is basically a security guard’s duty.

Lester was discontented, with a look of disgruntlement.

Wang Xin pretended not to hear Lester’s complaints, kept his back straight, earnestly guarding the stone house. But inside, he was becoming more restless, beginning to understand why Ji You secretly instructed him to subtly provoke Lester’s emotions.

With Lester’s current state, any slight disturbance could cause chaos in Shaun’s rear.

Wang Xin thought to himself, secretly amused, but did not show any expression on the face as he listened to Lester still grumbling and casually said, ”Lester, actually, I don’t want to stay here either, I want to go to the front.”

Lester, upon hearing this, was instantly attracted and asked, ”You also want to go to the front line?”

”Of course!” Wang Xin nodded without hesitation, saying, ”Who wouldn’t want to go to the front and have a good fight? Moreover, staying here doesn’t earn any points.”

Unless the enemy attacks all the way to the rear, they shouldn’t expect to earn many points.

Lester concealed his anger, instead, glanced at Wang Xin and said, ”I think you’re suitable to guard here.” This is precisely because Chen Junxiu is very meticulous, with keen observation and strong vigilance, which is why Shaun keeps him here.

Wang Xin didn’t refute this statement, seemed inadvertently saying, ”The enemy hasn’t attacked yet, who knows where the actual battle will take place? Where exactly is the frontline we want to go to?”

Lester snorted, ”Definitely not where we are right now.”

If the enemy reaches here, it means our side’s odds of winning are low, leading to the rhythm of losing the match... but, our side possesses such superior strength and equipment compared to the enemy it’s absolutely impossible to be breached up to here.

This is Lester’s stubborn inner thought, hence he feels staying in the rear is pointless.

Points?

There’s even less way to earn them.

Suddenly Wang Xin said, ”Lester, actually, I want to go to the original position of squad 7 to guard. I believe that’s where the enemy is most likely to attack because that terrain is relatively high, with piles of rocks and slopes, easy for enemies to hide. If we launch an attack directly there, we might overturn their plans.”

Lester, hearing this, felt a stir in his heart.

Without expression, observing Lester’s facial expression, Wang Xin continued, ”Captain has already arranged people to go there, but he’s only sent one or two, including my former teammate Wang Qiang, altogether not enough to guard such a large area, something’s bound to happen.”

Lester listened, secretly pondering the feasibility.

Then, the more Lester thought, the more excited he got, eager to act immediately...

On the other side.

In a cramped space beneath a stone, Ji You was still asleep. He Yu and Liu Jia were already despairing about this, no longer hoping Ji You would wake up immediately, so they continued huddling, counting time.

second.

seconds.

seconds.

...

Time’s up.

The next second, a loud explosion erupted, and immediately after, Ji You opened his eyes.

He Yu looked slightly strange and said, ”Exactly as you said, there’s been a big commotion, judging by the direction, it should be near the border river, it’s—”

She didn’t explicitly state the following words.

Ji You shook his head and said, ”Not Cheng Haoyue’s doing.”

He Yu and Liu Jia were stunned, ”Who is it?”

”It’s He Nu.”

The two exchanged glances, their faces a bit peculiar.

After answering the question, Ji You suddenly patted his forehead and said, ”I told you to sleep, why didn’t you sleep?”

Liu Jia, He Yu: ”...”

Do you think everyone can sleep like a dead pig in any situation?

They didn’t say these words, nor did Ji You dwell on this matter, instead raised her hand and made a gesture, ”It’s our turn to take the stage.”
