Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close

”My name is James.”

”Don’t you have a Chinese name?” Ivy Sherwood asked.

”I do, but why should I tell you? All you need to know is that my whole family is abroad. We only came back this time to pay respects to our ancestors. My family has a company, and an annual income of over ten million is no problem.”

”You’re a little old, but I can give you a chance.”

Ivy Sherwood: ”...”

’Nina is only twenty-four, and this man is thirty-two. Who’s the old one here? How dare he complain about Nina’s age?’

James didn’t notice the change in Ivy Sherwood’s expression at all and continued speaking.

”If you marry me, you’ll even get to go abroad with me. You’d be marrying up.”

Even though Ivy Sherwood wasn’t Nina Scott and wasn’t here for a blind date with this man, his words were still incredibly grating.

”My family isn’t bad off either. What makes you think I’d be the one marrying up?”

The Scott Family might not be top-tier nationally, but in Lustre, they were still considered a very powerful family.

”Will your family’s assets be yours in the future? It’s not like they’re in your hands now, are they? Will you even have any money then?” James said.

”I’m the only son in my family, so all the assets will be mine. As for you, my mother likes a lively household, so you’ll just be responsible for bearing me a few sons.”

”Also, not just anyone can marry into our family. You’ll have to learn the rules first. You must serve me every day. I’ll be working outside, so you have to manage everything at home.”

Ivy Sherwood lowered her head and gave a cold laugh. ”Rules? And serve you? Does your family have a throne to inherit or something?”

”What’s that supposed to mean? You act so high and mighty, but aren’t you just trying to marry into a rich family?” He knew that this Nina Scott was the least favored child in her family.

”I’ve never wanted to marry into a rich family. Besides, since when does a mere annual income of ten million qualify as a ’rich family’? I wasn’t aware the bar was so low.”

”You!” James fumed.

”Someone like you dares to look down on my family? Let me tell you, no one but me would marry you. Just look at yourself, you unwanted, ugly woman.”

The man’s mouth was absolutely foul. Ivy Sherwood had just picked up her glass of water, but before she could throw it, someone else beat her to it.

Nina Scott’s face was a mask of fury.

She had just returned from the restroom and saw this man talking to Ivy Sherwood. He had clearly mistaken Ivy for her.

But the words he was spouting made Nina Scott feel sick to her stomach.

She knew the Scott Family wouldn’t pick anyone decent for her, but to send someone like this... who were they trying to disgust?

”Stop,” Ivy Sherwood called out.

James, who was about to leave, heard Ivy Sherwood and paused. The next second, the water in Ivy’s hand splashed across his face.

”A person like you is fit for a blind date? Get lost!”

James was livid. ”You... you...”

He lunged forward to hit her, but Ivy Sherwood’s quick reflexes sent a kick straight into his stomach, knocking him to the ground.

He tried to lunge again, but Ivy Sherwood directly called over the waiters. A few of them came and dragged James away.

Ivy Sherwood was about to leave with Nina Scott when she saw Julian Grant nearby.

”Mr. Grant.” Ivy Sherwood hadn’t expected to run into Julian Grant here. ”What a coincidence.”

’How long has Julian Grant been here?’

’He didn’t see everything that just happened, did he?’

’He seems to be on good terms with Quentin Blackwood. He’s not going to go and tell him anything, is he?’

”What a coincidence. I’m meeting a friend for dinner here and just happened to see you, so I thought I’d come over and say hello,” Julian Grant said with a smile.

’A friend... it’s probably not Quentin Blackwood, right?’

As if reading her mind, Julian Grant said, ”It’s not Quentin Blackwood. He’s busy every day and has no time to eat with me.”

”Well, since you’re meeting a friend, Mr. Grant, we won’t keep you. My friend and I will be leaving now.”

”Aren’t you two eating? Would you like to join us?” Julian Grant invited.

”No, thank you. Well then, Mr. Grant, we’ll be on our way.” Ivy Sherwood grabbed Nina Scott’s hand and hurried away.

It wasn’t until they were back in the car that Ivy Sherwood spoke apologetically.

”I’m so sorry, Nina. I think I ruined your blind date. I told him he had the wrong person, but he didn’t believe me and just insisted on introducing himself.”

”It’s fine. A guy like that isn’t worthy of a blind date with me anyway.”

”He’s definitely not a good guy, but he’s sure to badmouth you to the Scott Family. What will you do then?”

Knowing the Scotts’ personalities, they would definitely call Nina Scott over and chew her out again.

Although Nina Scott seemed carefree, she was actually quite sentimental. She disliked the Scott Family, but she had never said anything harsh to her parents.

”What can I do? It’s no big deal, I’m used to it. With a guy like him, if I just swallowed my pride, would I actually be expected to marry him?”

”Don’t worry, don’t worry. I was the one on the blind date, yet you were the one who had to put up with that. Anyone who thinks you’re not pretty is an idiot.”

”I wasn’t wronged. But he said his name was James and refused to give his Chinese name. Do you know what it is?”

Ivy Sherwood found it strange. Even if he moved abroad, he shouldn’t be so ashamed of his Chinese name that he won’t even say it.

”He thinks his name is too rustic and looks down on it. His name is Sean Judson.”

...

Back in the restaurant, Julian Grant returned to his private room.

That scene just now was more exciting than a TV drama, and Julian Grant was glad he had recorded it.

He quickly sent the video to Quentin Blackwood with the message: ”Quick, take a look. Your woman went on a blind date behind your back.”

Quentin Blackwood was in a meeting when he saw the message from Julian Grant.

It was a meeting at the DG Lustre branch about the final designs for several upcoming projects. After making some revisions, Quentin Blackwood had mirrored his laptop screen onto the large display.

Just then, a message popped up, stunning everyone present.

’President Blackwood has a woman?’

’And more importantly, this woman was brazen enough to go on a blind date behind his back?’

’There were few men in this world more outstanding than President Blackwood. What on earth was that woman thinking?’

Seeing the message, Quentin Blackwood didn’t even need to guess who Julian Grant was talking about.

The atmosphere in the conference room grew awkward. Fearing Julian Grant might send another outrageous message, Quentin Blackwood immediately turned off the screen mirroring.

”Is there anything else that’s unclear?” Quentin Blackwood asked.

Everyone else shook their heads frantically. ”No, no.”

They could feel the temperature in the room plummet, and there was something very wrong with President Blackwood’s tone.

”Meeting adjourned!”

No one dared to linger for even a second and quickly filed out.

Once everyone had left, Quentin Blackwood finally opened the video.

In the video, Ivy Sherwood was sitting across from an older man. In his eyes, this man had no redeeming qualities. He was inferior in every way, not even comparable to a single strand of his hair.

He remembered hearing Seth Scott’s terrible idea at the restaurant last time—telling Ivy Sherwood to find someone for a fake marriage. ’Ivy said she wasn’t interested back then, but has she already taken action so quickly?’
