Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close

’Why did what I just said sound exactly like what his uncle said?’

”It’s all your fault!” Silas Blackwood would never admit to Ivy Sherwood that he’d been kicked out too.

She had been enjoying a lovely cup of coffee, but the moment Silas Blackwood arrived, Ivy Sherwood felt it turn bitter in her mouth.

Ivy Sherwood stood up, intending to leave.

Silas Blackwood suddenly grabbed her wrist. ”Where are you going?”

His sudden movement made Ivy Sherwood’s lower back bump against the chair. A jolt of soreness and weakness shot through her, and she nearly collapsed back into the seat.

Silas Blackwood saw it too. He asked, ”Does your back hurt?”

Ivy Sherwood’s heart instantly jumped into her throat.

’Silas Blackwood was a veteran in this department. God knows how many women he’d slept with. Did he see through it?’

”No,” Ivy Sherwood denied.

”No way.” As he spoke, Silas Blackwood reached out and pinched Ivy Sherwood right on her lower back.

Ivy Sherwood sucked in a sharp breath. Her already sore lower back protested even more painfully at his touch.

”Silas Blackwood, what are you doing!” She quickly took a step back to put distance between them.

Silas Blackwood’s hand met empty air. He suddenly felt a little awkward, his heart feeling just as empty.

’Her waist was pretty soft when I touched it just now.’

But Silas Blackwood quickly dismissed the thought. ’Ivy Sherwood isn’t fat, and her figure is decent, but there are countless beauties with better bodies. Any one of them is better than Ivy Sherwood.’

”Why the big reaction? I didn’t even do anything to you.” Silas Blackwood was annoyed now, too.

”Heh, you got that last night, didn’t you?” Silas Blackwood continued.

With every word he spoke, Ivy Sherwood felt as if Silas Blackwood knew something.

She pressed her lips together, her mind racing. ’What does Silas Blackwood mean by that? Did he know about her and Quentin Blackwood last night...?’

Then, she heard Silas Blackwood say, ”You slept in your car last night, didn’t you? How much is that car of yours even worth? A cheap clunker like that, it’d be a miracle if it was comfortable to sleep in!”

Even his car, which cost several million, was uncomfortable to sleep in and left his back aching. Hers didn’t stand a chance.

Ivy Sherwood breathed a sigh of relief. Thank goodness Silas hadn’t gone there.

”None of your business!” Ivy Sherwood turned around, ready to leave.

Silas Blackwood followed her. ”Where are you going? I’m telling you, I’m being generous here. You and I are going to find that attendant and get them to open the door and let us in.”

”I’ll graciously make a sacrifice. I’ll share the room with you tonight, and I won’t even kick you out. How about that?”

Ivy Sherwood remained silent. Silas Blackwood followed her. ”Ivy Sherwood, what’s with the attitude? It’s not like I’m rejecting you.”

”Did you complain to my dad about something? Is that why he had me thrown out?”

”Silas Blackwood, are you ever going to stop?” Ivy Sherwood felt like a hornet was buzzing in front of her face—noisy and impossible to drive away.

Utterly exasperated, Ivy Sherwood picked up her phone and sent a message to Quentin Blackwood: ”Uncle, can you please control your nephew? If he’s really that bored, I can find him a factory job.”

Ivy Sherwood had never tattled before, but since Silas Blackwood had already accused her of it, she figured she might as well just do it.

The target of her complaint, however, wasn’t Caleb Blackwood, but Quentin Blackwood.

Clearly, complaining to Quentin Blackwood was more effective.

Because very quickly, Silas Blackwood was called away by a phone call.

”How could this happen? My dad doesn’t know, right? Don’t you dare tell him!”

Although she didn’t know what it was about, and Quentin Blackwood hadn’t replied, Ivy Sherwood knew this had to be Quentin’s doing.

...

After leaving, Ivy Sherwood went to the small villa to get her luggage. She also sent a message to Quentin Blackwood to tell him about it.

Quentin Blackwood simply replied with a single ”Mm.”

Just as Ivy Sherwood was leaving with her suitcase, she saw the same staff member who had brought her here yesterday.

”Miss Sherwood, we have other vacant rooms. Why don’t I take you to one?”

Ivy Sherwood, wary of a trap, didn’t want a repeat of yesterday’s events.

”Thank you, but that’s alright.” ’She could put her luggage in the car for now and just make do for the night.’

”Mr. Blackwood arranged it,” the staff member said.

Was it Quentin Blackwood? Ivy Sherwood wasn’t sure, so she asked, ”Mr. Blackwood? Caleb Blackwood?”

”No, Mr. Blackwood said that if you didn’t like it here, he would arrange another room for you. You can stay wherever you’d like.”

It really was Quentin Blackwood.

”Please tell Mr. Blackwood that it’s not necessary, but thank you.”

”Miss Sherwood, please don’t make things difficult for me. President Blackwood’s arrangements, I...”

”President Blackwood?”

’Why call Quentin Blackwood ’President Blackwood’?’

Instantly, Ivy Sherwood understood. ”Quentin Blackwood is your boss?”

This person wasn’t just a regular employee either. The name tag on his chest had the word ”Manager” on it; he had some rank.

Only then did Ivy Sherwood understand. Quentin Blackwood wasn’t in that small villa because his esteemed status got him a special arrangement. The entire resort was his property.

She had looked it up before, and the developer of this resort didn’t seem to be DG. This meant it was very likely that Quentin Blackwood’s business empire was much larger than they imagined, not just DG Group.

The manager didn’t answer, but his silence was answer enough.

”Miss Sherwood, this way, please.”

Ivy Sherwood followed him to another room.

It was true that there were no vacant rooms last night, but Quentin Blackwood had his ways. Preparing a room for Ivy Sherwood was no problem for him.

Ivy Sherwood arrived at the new room. It was closer to the mountains and very quiet.

Ivy Sherwood really liked this room. When she entered, there was a light and elegant incense fragrance, like the scent of orchids.

Ivy Sherwood sent a ”thank you” to Quentin Blackwood, then chatted with Nina Scott for a while.

She didn’t go out again for the rest of the evening.

When Silas Blackwood returned from his phone call, Ivy Sherwood had once again disappeared.

He went to the room and found the door open. He hurried inside, washed up, then breathed into his hand and sniffed. He definitely didn’t have bad breath.

He didn’t finish dealing with company matters until the afternoon. Caleb Blackwood called to ask how he and Ivy Sherwood were getting along and how the couple’s room was. He added that he had arranged a candlelight dinner for them by the sea and told Silas Blackwood to take Ivy there.

”Dad, you have no idea how unreasonable Ivy Sherwood is! She didn’t even stay with me last night. She just grabbed her suitcase and left. She’s got a huge temper, and now I don’t even know where she is.”

”What?”

”You don’t know? Didn’t Ivy Sherwood call you to complain? Last night, wasn’t it you who...”

”What about last night?” Caleb Blackwood had no idea what he was talking about.

”Nothing!” Silas Blackwood didn’t dare tell Caleb Blackwood that he had been thrown out last night.

’But if my father didn’t do it, who did?’

’Silas Blackwood couldn’t think of anyone else. The only person that came to mind was... his uncle!’

’But why would Uncle do that? Was he helping Ivy Sherwood?’

’If that’s the case, then Uncle and Ivy Sherwood...’
