Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close

Yara Scott left, a ball of frustration simmering inside her.

Nina Scott had never said a word about all the things Yara usually did to her, so who was this outsider to come and meddle?

And in front of Seth Scott, no less.

’Sooner or later, I’ll teach Ivy Sherwood a lesson!’

She looked down and saw a message from Cheryl Yates: ”Is Quentin Blackwood really at the resort?”

”Of course it’s true. I just saw him eating with Ivy Sherwood. Cheryl, you have to come quickly. I can tell that Ivy Sherwood has ulterior motives. She was acting all chummy with Quentin Blackwood just now.”

Yara Scott said this deliberately, wanting Cheryl Yates to come and help her deal with Ivy Sherwood.

”Ivy Sherwood and Quentin Blackwood? Isn’t she Silas Blackwood’s girlfriend?” Cheryl Yates asked.

”Who knows? She probably saw how exceptional Quentin Blackwood is and decided Silas Blackwood wasn’t good enough anymore, right?”

Yara Scott continued texting: ”Cheryl, I’ve always thought that you’re the only one in this world worthy of Quentin Blackwood. You two are a perfect match—a handsome, talented man and a beautiful woman, a match made in heaven.”

These words were exactly what Cheryl Yates wanted to hear. ”Got it. I’ll be there as soon as I can.”

’When the time comes, I’ll just say it was a chance encounter. Besides, the resort is by the sea. If I wear a bikini, Quentin Blackwood will definitely be captivated when he sees my figure.’

「...」

Ivy Sherwood returned to her room with no intention of going out again.

There were too many people here she didn’t want to see, like Thea Sherwood, the Scotts, and Silas Blackwood.

If she went out and ran into any of them, it would just be more trouble. It was better to just stay in her room.

A message came from Nina Scott: ”Ivy, thank you. You’ll always be my best friend!”

Ivy Sherwood found the words a bit strange. ’Why would Nina suddenly say something like that?’

She immediately called Nina Scott. The call connected quickly. ”Nina, why the sudden sentiment? We’ve always been best friends.”

”I heard everything from my brother. He said you ran into Yara Scott while you were having a meal with him. She said some nasty things, and you put her in her place for me. My brother even came to ask me if Yara Scott had been bullying me.”

”I wasn’t specific. I know you don’t want your brother to know, so I just said Yara Scott was causing trouble behind your back without saying what it was. Please don’t be mad at me...”

”Why would I be mad at you? I can’t thank you enough! When you get back from the resort, I’ll treat you to a big meal!”

Hearing that Nina Scott’s tone was genuinely fine, Ivy Sherwood agreed, ”Okay! In that case, I want beef noodle soup!”

”How can beef noodle soup count as a big meal? I said a big meal, and a big meal it will be.”

Ivy Sherwood thought for a moment. ”Then... seafood beef noodle soup?”

Nina Scott laughed and replied, ”Deal!”

「...」

Ivy Sherwood stayed cooped up in her room and went back to dealing with work.

She had been too busy at lunch to even think about eating. She continued working until it had been dark for who knows how long. By the time Ivy Sherwood finished, she realized how late it was.

Stretching, Ivy Sherwood’s stomach rumbled. She hadn’t eaten anything since the two crystal dumplings and glass of milk that morning, and only now did she feel the hunger.

Ivy Sherwood decided to go find something to eat, wondering if the restaurant was still serving food at this hour.

On her way to the restaurant, someone suddenly called her name.

”Ivy Sherwood.”

Ivy Sherwood turned around and saw a woman in a dress standing there.

”Miss Yates, what a coincidence.”

Cheryl Yates walked toward Ivy Sherwood. ”It’s no coincidence. I was looking for you. In fact, I’ve been looking for you almost all day.”

Ivy Sherwood: ”...”

’Looks like she’s not here to be friendly.’

The last time they met was at her brand’s grand opening. Cheryl Yates had shown up, pretending to be a friend there to show support, but in reality, she was there for Quentin Blackwood.

After she refused to help Cheryl Yates set up a meeting with Quentin Blackwood, she hadn’t seen Cheryl again.

”I heard you were here too and wanted to hang out, but I couldn’t find you anywhere.” Cheryl Yates came over and took Ivy Sherwood’s arm, her actions completely natural.

Anyone who didn’t know better would think they were friends who had known each other for years.

Ivy Sherwood pulled her arm away. ”I was in my room. I haven’t been out all day.”

”Oh, I see. No wonder. By the way, as you know, this resort just had its soft opening. It’s packed, and all the rooms are booked. I arrived late, so I couldn’t get a room. If you don’t mind, could I stay with you?”

’Cheryl Yates wants to stay with me?’

’Is she out of her mind?’

Cheryl Yates was Lustre’s number one socialite. The Yates Family was a century-old enterprise. A rich and powerful young heiress like her had probably never shared a room with anyone in her entire life.

If Cheryl Yates were just an ordinary person, Ivy Sherwood might not have said anything about sharing a room.

But it was obvious Cheryl Yates was trying to butter her up for a reason, and it was most likely related to Quentin Blackwood.

”Miss Yates, you know I didn’t come alone. I’m afraid that might be inappropriate.” Ivy Sherwood’s words were subtle, not spelling it out, but she trusted Cheryl Yates would understand.

Cheryl Yates had indeed heard from Yara Scott that Ivy Sherwood came with Silas Blackwood.

’They’re an engaged couple, so they’re probably sharing a room. It really would be inconvenient.’

In truth, it wasn’t that she didn’t have a place to stay. She had only said that to get on Ivy Sherwood’s good side and convince her to help.

”It’s okay. It’s not like I can’t find a place to stay.”

”So, Miss Yates, was there something you needed from me?” Ivy Sherwood asked directly.

Cheryl Yates said, ”We’re friends. Of course I was just looking for you to hang out.”

Ivy Sherwood was blunt. ”Miss Yates, if you have something to say, just say it.”

She had no desire to pretend to be friends with Cheryl Yates. Their backgrounds and personalities meant they were fated to never be friends.

”You really are straightforward. Fine, I’ll be direct. I told you last time that I want to become part of your family. I want to ask your ’uncle’ to watch the sunrise with me tomorrow morning. Can you help me with that?”

Cheryl Yates wanted to seize this opportunity. If Quentin Blackwood left Lustre one day, she might not get another chance.

Ivy Sherwood knew it. Cheryl Yates was definitely here for Quentin Blackwood.

”I’m sorry, Miss Yates, but I really can’t help you with that. I’m not very familiar with Mr. Blackwood.”

”But I heard you were eating at the same table as him this morning. If you’re not familiar, how could you eat together?”

”That was just a coincidence. I don’t know where Quentin Blackwood is now, so I can’t help you.”

”You must have his contact information, right? It’s fine if you don’t give it to me directly...”

”I don’t have his contact information,” Ivy Sherwood refused flatly. ”I can’t help you, Miss Yates. If you want to ask someone out in the future, it would be better to do it yourself. I have to go, excuse me.”

With that, Ivy Sherwood turned and walked directly toward the restaurant.

Behind her, Cheryl Yates dug her nails into her palm. That Ivy Sherwood... she was determined to do things the hard way.

’Refusing to help with such a small thing. What’s she acting so high and mighty for?’

’I already swallowed my pride to talk to someone like her. That was giving her more than enough face.’

’Normally, I wouldn’t even bother to give someone like Ivy Sherwood the time of day.’

’Could it be true, just like Yara Scott said? Is Ivy Sherwood interested in Quentin Blackwood herself, and that’s why she won’t help?’
