Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close

Yara Scott grew flustered and reached out to shove Ivy Sherwood. ”Why are you slandering and framing me? Did Nina Scott put you up to this?”

Seth Scott was about to block her, but another man was faster.

Quentin Blackwood pulled Ivy Sherwood behind him, his gaze icy. ”So this is what passes for a lady’s upbringing? Hitting people in public?”

Seth Scott’s hand met only empty air. He looked at the man in front of him, who was slightly taller than him.

He greeted him, ”President Blackwood, I see you haven’t left yet.”

”I saw Miss Scott here was about to put on a show for everyone—shouting and fuming. I couldn’t help but stop and watch.” Quentin Blackwood’s words were dripping with sarcasm, and he looked as if he were enjoying a play.

”My apologies for the scene, President Blackwood. My younger sister isn’t really like this.” Seth Scott had no choice but to pull Yara back to stop her from embarrassing herself further.

Yara Scott shook her head. ”That’s not it! She’s the one who framed me!”

Ivy Sherwood said, ”You know best how many people you got to isolate and humiliate her. Just because Nina doesn’t want to deal with you doesn’t mean she’s a pushover!”

Nina Scott and Ivy Sherwood had been classmates since childhood. After Nina was officially recognized by the Scott Family, she transferred into the same class. Back then, there was also Anna Nash, who was on good terms with Ivy.

When Nina Scott was cornered by bullies at the school gate, Ivy Sherwood wanted to rush forward, but Anna Nash held her back, telling her not to get involved.

But Ivy Sherwood rushed forward anyway, while Anna Nash hid behind a large tree nearby.

In the end, both Ivy Sherwood and Nina Scott were beaten black and blue, but from that day on, they became the best of friends.

Nina Scott never liked Anna Nash. It wasn’t because Anna was poor, but because she felt Anna was fake. She hadn’t genuinely wanted to be friends with Ivy; she just hung around Ivy so Ivy would treat her to meals and buy her things, even though Ivy herself didn’t have much money.

Later on, after Anna Nash found out that Ivy Sherwood had a fiancé—the eldest young master of the Blackwood Family, no less—she used Ivy to get to know Silas Blackwood. The two of them got involved with each other after that.

”I didn’t... Brother, I didn’t...” As she spoke, Yara Scott’s voice turned plaintive. Her eyes welled with tears as she gave Seth Scott a pitiful look.

”Alright, go back to your room for now. We’ll talk about this later.” With so many people around, Seth Scott didn’t want to cause a scene.

’If it’s true, I’ll have to ask Nina about it privately later.’

Although Yara Scott was reluctant, she left. Seth Scott looked at Ivy Sherwood apologetically. ”I’m sorry, Ivy. I didn’t know about any of this.”

”She didn’t bully me, so you don’t need to apologize to me. Seth, even though Nina sees you as the only family she has in the Scott family, there’s a lot you don’t know. She actually cares a great deal for your family and wants to get along with all of you. If you can, could you please show her a little more care?”

”Of course. And thank you for always being by Nina’s side.”

”We’re friends. It’s what friends do.”

Seth Scott opened his mouth, as if to say something more, while Quentin Blackwood stood nearby, his expression impassive.

”Breakfast is over. Isn’t it time for you to leave, Mr. Scott?”

”Aren’t you still here as well, President Blackwood?” Seth Scott looked up, meeting Quentin Blackwood’s gaze.

Meeting Quentin Blackwood’s eyes, he felt an immense, oppressive force. The feeling sent a chill down his spine.

Even Ivy Sherwood, who was slow on the uptake, could sense the subtle tension.

’It was like an invisible battle. The air between the two men crackled with hostility. Is this what a clash between powerful men looks like?’

’Did the two of them have some business dispute? Did Quentin Blackwood steal a project from Seth Scott, causing them to be at odds with each other?’

’But it was none of her business, and Ivy Sherwood wasn’t one to gossip.’

”Well, since you two seem to have things to discuss, I’ll be going now. Goodbye, Seth. Goodbye, President Blackwood.”

Quentin Blackwood’s brow furrowed even more. ’She calls Seth Scott by his first name, but addresses me so formally as ’President Blackwood’?’

’And what about what he’d told her before, to stay away from this man? Did his words just go in one ear and out the other?’

After Ivy Sherwood left, Seth Scott was the first to speak. ”Rumor has it that President Blackwood doesn’t meddle in things that don’t concern him. But you seem to treat Ivy quite well.”

Seth Scott had noticed it last time at the restaurant when Quentin Blackwood had anxiously carried Ivy Sherwood away.

And just now, when Yara Scott was about to get physical, Quentin Blackwood had protected her again.

’Isn’t this Quentin Blackwood paying a little too much attention to Ivy Sherwood?’

”Are you very close with her?”

’Calling her Ivy... It makes Seth Scott sound so flippant!’

”Of course. She’s my sister’s friend.”

”Since she’s your sister’s friend, and not yours, I’ll trouble you to call her Ivy Sherwood from now on.”

”Why are you so worked up, President Blackwood? What I call her is a matter between Ivy and me, isn’t it?”

”She is part of the Blackwood family. I’d advise you to be mindful of your boundaries, Mr. Scott. My nephew is also at this resort.”

While reminding Seth Scott, Quentin Blackwood seemed to forget that he himself was the one who had shown the least restraint, especially when his nephew was right outside the door.

”Since she is your nephew’s fiancée, shouldn’t you also avoid suspicion and keep your distance from Ivy, President Blackwood?”

”As her uncle, I naturally have the right to help my nephew keep an eye on his fiancée and prevent certain people with ulterior motives from getting any ideas. You’re an honorable man, Mr. Scott. I’m sure that in your heart, my nephew’s fiancée is nothing more than your sister’s friend.”

Quentin Blackwood’s gaze grew even more intense and domineering, his tone laced with a clear warning.

Seth Scott paused, breaking his gaze with Quentin Blackwood’s. He then looked down and scoffed.

”And what if she isn’t?”

’What if, in his heart, Ivy Sherwood was more than just his sister’s friend?’

Quentin Blackwood’s eyes narrowed. ”I’ve said it before. She is a Blackwood, and she’s about to be officially engaged to Silas Blackwood. I don’t care what you’re thinking, but you’d best get rid of those ideas.”

Seth Scott laughed. ”I had no idea President Blackwood cared so much about the Blackwood family.”

”Or perhaps... it’s President Blackwood who has his own ideas that he daren’t admit?”

Quentin Blackwood sneered, ”Watch what you say, Mr. Scott.”

’He absolutely did not have any feelings for Ivy Sherwood!’

’He wasn’t the kind of man who would steal his own nephew’s fiancée. His relationship with Ivy Sherwood was purely transactional.’

’As for being good to Ivy Sherwood, that was even more absurd. He didn’t think he had helped her with anything, so how could he be considered ’good’ to her?’

”Is that so? In that case, I truly hope President Blackwood only sees her as his nephew’s fiancée.” Seth Scott’s lips curved into a smirk.

Everyone thought Ivy Sherwood was plain-looking. It was true, she wasn’t stunning at first glance, but in reality...

It was only after getting to know her that one could discover Ivy’s charm. Looks aside, Ivy had many good qualities. She was strong and resilient, always striving to walk the path she believed was right and never regretting her choices.

Even if the path ahead was fraught with thorns with no end in sight, she was willing to forge ahead.

Besides, her looks were actually...
