Rebuilding the Immortal Cultivator Clan

Chapter 1991: Chapter 1464: Conclusion (Part 2)

And how could they not know that acting this way would give the Sea Clan an opportunity to invade the West Continent and leave behind immense hidden dangers? Especially given the Sea Clan’s greed for waterways—once they seized a landing, they would spare no effort to expand their sphere of control.

At that time, they would inevitably erupt into round after round of fierce war with the Sea Clan, which would greatly exhaust their own strength and resources.

But there was no other way! They couldn’t just stand by and watch as their own ancestral lands and Mountain Gates were broken through, doing nothing in response, could they?

Of course, there was also a measure of revenge against the cultivators mixed in.

They could still tolerate your people slaughtering Demon Cultivators in the rear, but when you go so far as to dig at their very foundation, that cannot be forgiven!

As for claiming ignorance? Who told you to belong to the Immortal Tao as well?

Now back to the matter at hand!

After discovering the retreat of the Demonic Tao, the Sea Clan did not pursue the cultivators relentlessly, nor did they intend to exterminate them all—for something even more important had appeared before them, an opportunity that might restore the Sea Clan’s former glory and even let them become the Primal Spirit Realm’s rulers!

To possess the waters of the West Continent!

Thus, the Sea Clan merely dispatched thirty percent of their Water Devils to pin down these cultivators, just to prevent them from sabotaging the Sea Clan’s grand design, without demanding their complete destruction.

There was simply no need, and in truth, it could not be done—among the cultivators were quite a few Heavenly Immortal Cultivators, after all.

And with the Sea Clan’s intentions so blatantly clear, how could the cultivators fail to see through it? Yet they had no power to stop it—especially since even the very masters of the West Continent had chosen to give up—so why should they fight to the death?

After all, there was no waterway connecting the East and West Continents, so there was no need to fear the Sea Clan would enter the East Continent via the waters.

Moreover, with Water Devils and Demon Cultivators battling in the West Continent, the Immortal Tao on both sides could breathe easier.

By this logic, from the perspective of the Immortal Tao, it might even be a blessing in disguise. Yet from the standpoint of the entire human race, this was an immense hidden calamity.

Alas, the cultivators could barely protect themselves now—how could they spare a thought for such things?

What’s more, when even the local lords—the Demon Cultivators—could not care less, what could these outsiders possibly do?

They could only cling to a defensive posture and look for chances to escape the Sea Clan’s encirclement.

What they did not know was that the West Continent was already embroiled in flames of war, with battlefields everywhere.

A group of Demon Cultivators arrived first, preventing the cultivators from attacking a certain Mountain Gate.

”What is the meaning of this! We risk our lives at the frontlines to resist and slay Water Devils; we are all of the human race—if you will not help, so be it, but why sabotage our very foundation, leaving us no peace to face the enemy?” a Demon Cultivator shouted loudly in rebuke.

The cultivators were momentarily stunned by the harsh scolding, and only after recovering did a few of them betray some embarrassment on their faces.

However one looked at it, this scene felt completely out of place.

For in the past, it was always the cultivators who stood atop the high ground of merit, accusing and belittling Demon Cultivators—yet now things were reversed.

Yet this time, it was true that what the cultivators and Human Dao had done was less than honorable—the Demon Cultivators’ words were not wrong.

”If you want to settle the karma, you may as well go to the Far West Land and fight the Sea Clan—there are still cultivators guarding it, in need of your aid!”

Before leaving, that Demon Cultivator issued them one final warning, saying, ”If you continue to attack our roots, then let us break clean and go our separate ways—it would be nothing to let the Sea Clan rule the world, and all humans become their withered husks.”

After that warning, indeed, they ceased their attacks and headed westward, gathering with an ever-growing number to join battle against the Sea Clan.

As time passed, a few months later, the situation across the Western Continent gradually stabilized. Although war and slaughter persisted, at least there were no more sudden raids.

Cultivators and Human Dao cultivators who had come from the Southern Domain had already reached the western battlefields, and those Demon Cultivators had also returned to the frontlines.

Even so, the Sea Clan still held several rivers, lakes, and other aquatic territories on land; even if everyone combined their powers, they could not drive them out.

Because of this, the frontlines of both sides shifted to the banks of these waters, where brutal battles often erupted. Due to the excessive slaughter, in just a few months the very soil turned color nearby.

Just as each faction fought grimly at the front, by this reckoning, another two or three months would see the Great Calamity come to an end.

But just then, an unforeseen event no living being could have anticipated occurred!

An old faction long vanished from the world’s eye—forgotten by all—the Ghost Clan, suddenly reappeared, and they seemed to have long prepared for this moment.

At once they swiftly seized a territory in the north, did not attack the Demon Cultivators, simply drove them out, and then began constructing defensive works.

Their posture made it clear: they intended to settle in the West Continent!

The cultivators and Human Dao cultivators paid it no mind; upon hearing of it, they cast it from their thoughts.

For in their memory, the Ghost Clan was still that feeble faction, forever fleeing from Yin God hunts.

Especially over all these years, in the Primal Spirit Realm, the Ghost Clan seemed to have vanished—utterly without news—as if wiped out by the Yin God.

Now that they had emerged, it never occurred to them that the Ghost Clan could be powerful or dangerous; rather, they thought them opportunists slipping in through chaos.

”Damn it!”

The Demon Cultivators thought much the same, but in fact, that made them even angrier!

If a powerful force like the Sea Clan came to seize territory, so be it—but what is a petty Ghost Clan? How dare you do such a thing?

Do you take us of the Demonic Tao for nothing?!

Yet now that the Tribulation Evil Energy was noticeably dissipating from the world—a clear sign of coming conclusion—they could only suppress their anger and wait for a better moment.

Mainly, the Demon Cultivators wished to take advantage of the time while the cultivators and Human Dao cultivators were still assisting them, to drive back the Sea Clan and reclaim a few aquatic domains, thereby easing their own predicament.

But the Sea Clan, thinking of its future, no matter the heavy cost, staked everything to hold their watery strongholds and refused any retreat.

Thus, one after another, brutal wars with appalling casualties broke out!

At every great battle, the Sea Clan lost countless lives, but all three human factions saw only defeat.

...

Time flew by like a fleeting steed—gone in an instant!

Throughout these decades of frenetic slaughter, this sudden Great Calamity had finally, at long last, come to an end!

The dull, gloomy heavens and earth cleared, as though a torrential rain had washed everything clean—giving an impression of utter purity, and sweeping away all the lingering oppression.

”Finally over!”

Though it had been only several short decades, to all it felt endlessly long.
