Rebuilding the Immortal Cultivator Clan

Chapter 1986: Chapter 1462: Ahead of Schedule

This was a plan that had been discussed and agreed upon within the Immortal Tao from the very beginning, and it had been maintained ever since through all these years.

But now, such a situation had arisen, causing their forces—those meant to resist the Sea Clan—to lose their opponents and rendering them unable to resolve their own karmic force quickly.

Now, they could only think of ways to solve this serious problem on their own, but with the current chaos in the Primal Spirit Realm, they simply couldn’t find worthy adversaries for the time being.

All they could do was send their disciples and clansmen into the East Sea, searching for traces of the Water Devils.

To them, this was less desirable than fighting the Sea Clan in a straightforward, bloody battle. Although the losses might be more severe, at least there would be no concern that the problem remained unsolved.

By contrast, the Li family acted first, taking the initiative and hunting the Sea Clan from the start; thus, many of their clansmen had already resolved their karmic debts.

Moreover, after learning that the Sea Clan was going all out to launch a fierce assault on the Demonic Tao in the Western Sea, Clan Leader Li Xiuyuan at once gave orders for a large-scale offensive on the East Sea, seizing the opportunity to settle karmic force!

It was precisely his decisiveness that allowed the Li family to face this situation with relative calm, unlike the other powers, who grew anxious.

...

”Damn it! How are we supposed to resolve this now?”

A certain Heavenly Immortal of the Cave Abyss Sect had searched for a long time without finding even a single Water Devil at the Heavenly Immortal Realm, leaving him irritable and easily angered.

This, in fact, was a sign that Tribulation Evil Energy was seeping into his body, already beginning to erode his mind and soul.

Such cases were not uncommon, for the world was saturated with dense Tribulation Evil Energy, and because he had been rushing about outside without time for purification, it had accumulated in his body and gnawed at him ceaselessly.

However, his situation was not yet severe; if he calmed his mind and spent a few days, he could resolve it.

”It looks like we can’t stay in the East Sea any longer. We’ll have to head elsewhere,” another Heavenly Immortal said in a deep voice.

Their initial reluctance to go to the West Continent was simple—they were just too far away!

From the far east of the East Continent to the far west of the West Continent, they would have to cross the whole of the Primordial Spirit Land, and even on the fastest spirit boat, the journey would take more than half a year.

And during such a long period, no one could guarantee the great battle would still be ongoing.

If, after all their efforts, they finally arrived only to find that the battle was already over, that would not merely have been a wasted trip—far worse, they might lose the chance to resolve their karmic force!

When the great tribulation ended, they would have to pay an even greater price to resolve the karma themselves.

”The West Continent is much too far; it’s better to head for the Southern Domain or South Sea regions.”

The distance was much closer. As for other issues, they no longer wanted to consider them.

”Hmm.”

At the commands of the Heavenly Immortals, the previously mighty cultivators over the East Sea began retreating in droves.

By now, the East Sea had already been scoured by them once over; nearly all Water Devils that could be found had fallen to the hands of cultivators.

If not for their dread of incurring the karmic force from destroying heaven and earth, they would have scoured even the very earth itself, leaving not a single spiritual object for the Sea Clan!

Just as the cultivators left the skies over the East Sea, in the depths of a magnificent, golden palace near the Sea Eye, an ancient dragon exuding a rotten aura slowly opened its eyes.

The previously dim hall instantly became bright.

Inside, there were none of the extravagant decorations the Dragon Tribe loved, but instead countless profound and intricate dao patterns. Ordinary beings would feel dizzy or even have their very spiritual soul explode from the overwhelming impact of a mere glance!

The function of these dao patterns was not to seal the old dragon away, but to protect him, preventing the Heavenly Dao from discovering his existence.

Yet from another angle, was this not also a kind of seal?

”What a pity...”

He uttered only this vague remark, closed his eyes, and the grand hall once more fell into darkness.

Outside the hall, the two beings assigned to watch and record, though unaware of what had transpired, carefully documented every word and action inside.

”Year 135,211 of the Heavenly Dragon Era, sixth month, ninth day, third quarter of the si hour: The Ancestor awoke and opened his eyes, speaking three words: ’What a pity.’”

Afterward, the two seemed to transform into statues, standing there motionless.

If a Dragon Tribe Heavenly Immortal were present, they would understand what the old dragon meant by ’what a pity.’

At the outbreak of the great tribulation, the Sea Clan had quickly decided to focus all its power on reclaiming the Western Sea and attempting PS to invade the waterways of the West Continent.

At that time, a certain Dragon Tribe Heavenly Immortal had offered another suggestion.

That was to keep thirty or forty percent of the Sea Clan hidden deep within the East Sea, out of sight.

Then, when cultivators of the Immortal Tao were forced to leave the East Continent—since there were no Water Devils to cleanse karma in the East Sea—the hidden Water Devils could pour forth and perhaps retake the nearshore area, even pressing further if lucky!

Regrettably, few supported the idea at the time. The old dragon himself had approved, but still could not alter the Sea Clan’s broader strategy.

If they had adopted the plan, not only might they have regained the East Sea’s nearshore region, they might even have claimed the much-coveted continental waterways for the Sea Clan!

But alas, no one listened.

Now, in hindsight, they had let a golden opportunity slip away for nothing.

...

At the same time—

Upon Mount Wanxian, Li Xiuyuan received word that Cave Abyss Sect and the other powers had left the East Sea, and judging by their direction, they were headed for the Southern Domain.
