Rebuilding the Immortal Cultivator Clan

Chapter 1985: Chapter 1461: Forcibly Assigned (Part 2)

If this keeps up, and no solution is found, the morale of the Immortal Tao side will soon be completely gone!

Just then, Li Zhixuan suddenly came up with a useful, and not just useful, but immensely effective plan; naturally, all the Heavenly Immortals flocked to her idea.

They even started acting right away, splitting the Immortal Tao army into two—so eager, you’d think something urgent was happening.

Not long after, the once-mixed army of cultivators had split in two, each led by a different Heavenly Immortal, looking for all the world like a well-ordered force!

Li Zhixuan followed one army south, joining the battle between the Devil Race and Human Dao.

After some rushing about, the Immortal Tao forces abruptly appeared at the edge of the battlefield, naturally unable to escape a round of questioning by the Human Dao cultivators.

”May I ask why you’ve mobilized such a force to the Southern Domain? Is there something important you wish to do?”

”We heard your side is locked in fierce battle with the Devil Race, lacking in strength. Seeing as we’re all human race, we made a special trip to support you.” The cultivator spoke these words smoothly, even pulling a concerned look.

But the Human Dao cultivators only felt this group was greasy—and utterly shameless!

When did they ever need others’ help? It’s not like they can’t defeat the Devil Race.

But with the enemy pressing, it’s unwise to argue on the battlefield, so they could only show dark and ugly faces, hoping their attitude would make the cultivators leave on their own.

But these people had already decided to join in—how could such a reason drive them off? They simply acted as if nothing happened, ready to jump into the fray once the battle erupted.

And when waves of cultivators appeared on the battlefield for the first time, the Devil Beasts were utterly shocked—since when did Human Dao and Immortal Tao join forces!

After the shock came anger and fear.

Previously, they fought the Human Dao to a deadlock; now the Immortal Tao joined in, which would inevitably shift the balance, putting them at a crushing disadvantage!

In truth, the Devil Race hadn’t had a fierce war with cultivators in a long time; after all, most areas bordering East Continent and Southern Domain had been occupied by Human Dao cultivators.

The few places not yet taken were rugged and dangerous, hard for armies to traverse.

With both sides unable to reach each other, war was naturally out of the question.

In the past, there were even Devil Race footholds in East Continent, but now, such places were completely gone!

Nowadays, the ’Devil Beasts’ in mountains and spirit lands were bred by various Immortal Tao powers, used for younger generations’ trials or for cultivating Spiritual Objects, hardly related to the Devil Race.

And whether in numbers or strength, there were strict limitations.

”Kill!”

The cultivators were even more excited than the Human Dao ones; as soon as the battle began, they charged out, shouting and eager to slaughter.

Not only did the Devil Race stare in shock—even the Human Dao cultivators were dumbfounded, never expecting such a scene.

”Are these people even cultivators anymore? More like hungry wolves in human skin!” blurted a Confucian cultivator.

”Stop staring! Get moving, or those cultivators will snatch every last Devil Beast!”

Everyone snapped out of it, ignoring their former formations, rushing out behind the cultivators.

”Damn it!”

The Devil Race cursed under their breath but had no choice but to fight back.

Yet as soon as the sides clashed, the Devil Race suffered terribly!

Many Devil Beasts underestimated the cultivators’ bloodlust, unaware of just how strong their killing intent was!

Caught off guard, huge numbers of Devil Beasts were wounded; some weaker low-level ones were killed on the spot.

By the time the Devil Beasts became alert, the opportunity was lost, and the situation grew even worse for them.

...

The other group of cultivators headed directly into West Continent, crossing its lands to reach Western Sea.

To be honest, many were fearful and uneasy at the prospect of crossing West Continent.

They knew Demon Cultivators well—and those weren’t the grateful, honorable types!

One moment, they might help Demon Cultivators drive off the Sea Clan; the next, the Demon Cultivators might stab them in the back.

If that happened, the cultivators marching into the lion’s den would be in grave danger. Getting back to East Continent would be a brutal ordeal.

But there was no helping it; caught in this great tribulation with no other way to escape, what could they do?

Li Zhixuan was among them, but unlike the others who were forced to come by lot, she was here of her own volition.

Her goal was simple: when the tribulation ended and on the way back to East Continent, she hoped a Demon Cultivator would attack her, so she could strike back and kill them!

That way, she could clear all the karma of this tribulation—plus the debt she owed the heavens.

Then, Li Zhixuan could transcend and depart immediately.

Of course, to achieve this, she had to kill one Heavenly Immortal of Sea Clan, and one Demon Heavenly Immortal!

Just as in the previous battle with Demon Cultivators, Li Zhixuan launched a proactive attack—her slightly weakened state instantly drew out a Heavenly Immortal Realm Water Devil.

...

While war raged across Primal Spirit Realm, the remote Shanhai State remained peaceful and tranquil, like a paradise untouched by the world.

At this moment, Li family received news that the Sea Clan had mobilized its armies, invading Western Sea.

”So that’s the reason!”

Now everyone understood, finally realizing why Sea Clan had conjured so many water devil illusions.

This, in turn, made resolving karma even harder—since the number of Water Devils in East Sea had dwindled, making them much more difficult to find.

So, some clansmen thought of heading north to find creatures of the Ten Thousand Spirits Alliance, using them instead of Sea Clan.

But Ten Thousand Spirits Alliance simply shut their doors, and if they forced an attack, who knows what massive price in lives they’d pay. Helpless, they could only withdraw and return to the vast East Sea to hunt traces of Water Devils.

Later, Li family also heard about Immortal Tao splitting into two, playing the ”same human race” card, heading to West Continent and Southern Domain, joining the battles of Human Dao vs Devil Race, and Demon Tao vs Sea Clan.

This approach seemed good, but both battlefields were way too far from Mount Wanxian, with dangers everywhere. Perhaps before clansmen even left East Continent, they’d be wiped out by some cultivators from other factions!

After all, with the great tribulation underway, all the usual rules and restrictions—no one followed them now.

So those two ideal destinations were out of reach for the cultivators of Shanhai State; they’d have to remain in East Sea and keep searching for the remaining Sea Clan.

As for Li Zhirui, though he hadn’t appeared since returning to his cave mansion, he had full knowledge of the outside events.

”After Cave Abyss Sect learns of this, will they change their minds and start targeting the family?” He suddenly thought of this possibility.

If that happened, that’d be perfect; the family could wait in comfort, no longer struggling everywhere to hunt Water Devils.

As for casualties? In a great tribulation, how could there be no casualties?

On the contrary, if Cave Abyss Sect launched an invasion, Li family’s losses might actually be less.

And the Cave Abyss Sect, who Li Zhirui was always thinking of, upon learning that most Sea Clan in East Sea had been moved out, were not only shocked, but mostly worried—worried they’d lost the best place to resolve their karma.

In fact, this problem wasn’t just Cave Abyss Sect’s headache; all Immortal Tao powers near East Sea—including Xiaxian Sect and Yumen He Family—were facing the same dilemma.

Just like the powers in western East Continent, whose main task was to guard against Demon Tao invasion, theirs was to prevent Sea Clan from coming ashore.

Thus they didn’t dispatch many disciples to the Immortal Demon Battlefield, but rather kept most of their forces back to deal with any Sea Clan attempting to land!
