Super Tycoon: I Beg You, Stop Pulling Stunts

Chapter 211: Chapter 191: A... Tight-Lipped Person

After all, the Chamber of Commerce had so many functions, you couldn’t list them all on one page.

Things like handling procedural approvals, legal services, financial services, talent acquisition, and information sharing were all basic functions.

’Of course, for me, it’s all about building connections.’

’That’s the key to getting ahead.’

’And there’s still the need for self-preservation.’

’If Yang Huixian could dig up certain things, that means other people probably could too.’

’I can’t rely on bluffing my way through life, can I?’

’It takes time to consolidate many things: wealth, identity, status.’

’My biggest problem is that I’m too young.’

’And I don’t have a powerful background, even though I’m pretending I do.’

Local news outlets and short-video platforms were currently buzzing with stories about him. The headlines were sensational and attention-grabbing: ”Peng City’s Youngest Golf Course Owner, Background Shrouded in Mystery.”

Stories like these, and by extension, he himself, were inevitably landing on many people’s radar.

Lin Chu resolved to keep a lower profile for the time being.

’No need to go stirring up trouble.’

’I’ll wait until I’ve fully consolidated my current assets.’

...

Yang Huixian’s Uncle Nine was named Yang Guangyao; he was from the ”Guang” generation.

In truth, the Yang Family didn’t have a strict generation naming system. After all, the clan was large, with varying levels of education, and things were a chaotic mess internally.

Before Fish Head Village was demolished and redeveloped, it had been just an ordinary little village.

Even after they struck it rich from the redevelopment, someone had proposed compiling a family genealogy, but the effort ended in a bitter argument.

The traditional clan structure had been completely dismantled by the forces of modernization.

Besides, Uncle Nine himself had been against the idea of compiling a genealogy.

From his perspective, Lin Chu could actually understand why.

Something like clan authority wouldn’t be much help to a man like him; in fact, it would be more of a restraint.

For instance, if an elder ordered him to do something, should he do it or not?

If he did it, he might have to violate his principles.

If he didn’t, he’d be stuck between a rock and a hard place.

So it was better not to have one at all. Each family could just live their own lives in peace.

”Does your Uncle Nine have a son?”

Lin Chu asked casually as they were driving over.

Yang Huixian quickly replied, ”He does. One son. He just graduated from college this year and is studying at home. He’s preparing for the civil service exam. He took it last year but didn’t pass.”

”What’s he like?”

Lin Chu asked.

’With his job, it was normal for family planning policies to be strictly enforced, so it made sense he only had one son.’

Yang Huixian thought for a moment. ”It’s hard to say. My cousin, Yang Yi, is a bit of a contradiction. He had a very strict upbringing, but I get the feeling he still really likes to have fun.”

”He’d always wanted to study abroad, but Uncle Nine wouldn’t allow it. He’s really stubborn about things like that. He even said things like, ’If you go, don’t ever come back,’ and threatened to disown him...”

”The poor kid... a lot of the young people in the village drive luxury cars. His family got tens of millions from the redevelopment payout, but they haven’t even bought him a car. They talk about ’hard work’ and ’self-reliance.’ He had to use all his New Year’s money from over the years just to buy a little Honda Fit. Even my dad couldn’t stand to watch it, but it was no use. It’s not about the money.”

Lin Chu couldn’t help but chuckle.

’He could keenly sense the bias in Yang Huixian’s attitude. On one hand, she admired her uncle’s character, a man so strict he was almost unreasonable. But on the other, he guessed there was a part of her that held an unspoken wish—why couldn’t he just help her out a little? It wouldn’t even have to violate his principles by much. For many things, all it would take is a single word from him.’

”Alright, I get it.”

”Let’s get a bouquet of flowers, a fruit basket, and a fish. That should be enough. I doubt he’d accept anything else.”

”I’m not even going to buy him cigarettes or alcohol. I’ll probably have to swipe some from him.”

Lin Chu said with a laugh.

Yang Huixian couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh.

After buying the gifts, they arrived at the village again.

His house was a standalone property with a courtyard, surrounded by security cameras. Two dogs were kept in the yard, a German Shepherd and a gray wolfdog. They both looked a bit old; even when people approached, they remained lying there lazily, not even letting out a bark, though their eyes glinted with vigilance.

”They’re both retired police dogs. The force couldn’t care for them anymore, so he brought them home. Their vet bills cost tens of thousands of yuan every month.”

”My cousin even complained to me once that the dogs have a higher economic status in the family than he does.”

Yang Huixian said with a smile, then got out of the car and let out a sharp whistle. The two dogs immediately ran over, tails wagging.

She rang the doorbell.

Lin Chu followed her inside, holding the flowers in one arm and carrying the fruit and fish with his other hand.

At home, Yang Guangyao was dressed casually in black pants and a white T-shirt. Though he was nearly fifty, he had maintained his physique well. He was wearing a pair of reading glasses.

He glanced at the gifts in Lin Chu’s hands but said nothing, simply turning to lead the way.

The living room was large and even had a fitness area with a pull-up machine and a treadmill.

The style was simple, yet comfortable.

His wife was in the kitchen, cooking.

His son was studying in the study.

It felt very domestic.

”Uncle Nine, let me formally and properly introduce you again. This is my boyfriend, Lin Chu. You’ve already met twice.”

”Aunt Nine... I brought my boyfriend home to see you.”

Yang Huixian said this gracefully, with a hint of showing off.

Lin Chu followed her lead, offering polite greetings. His demeanor was impeccable.

’He was still a little curious. Was this Uncle Nine really as unreasonable and unaccommodating as Yang Huixian had described? Or was it that, at her level, she was simply incapable of truly communicating with a man like this and couldn’t grasp his true intentions?’

After a round of pleasantries.
