Reborn As Super Heiress

Huo Sining and Gu Xu were still horsing around when suddenly the landline in the room rang.

They both froze and stared at each other, then Huo Sining reached out and pressed the speaker button.

As soon as the call connected, even before Huo Sining could speak, Su Qingqing’s anxious voice came through: ”Ningning, something’s happened!”

Huo Sining was taken aback and immediately asked, puzzled, ”What happened?”

Su Qingqing said urgently, ”Yesterday’s auction at the Philadelphia Black Market somehow got leaked by some busybody, and last night several American newspapers and online media reported on this news simultaneously.”

Huo Sining couldn’t help but laugh, ”How is that a big deal? I was expecting the news to come out eventually.”

Su Qingqing was quite annoyed: ”You should see those news articles; these Americans, always stirring things up, not only revealed the auction prices for the beast heads, but some media are trying to dig up information on you, evidently trying to uncover the true bidder for those two beast heads.”

Huo Sining chuckled, ”If they want to dig, let them. I’m not deliberately hiding anything.”

Su Qingqing was momentarily speechless at Huo Sining’s nonchalance, ”This is like the Emperor isn’t worried, but the eunuch is.”

Understanding her concern that the incident could escalate, Huo Sining explained:

”No need to worry. Like you said before, the money we used to buy the beast heads came from the diamonds from Volcano Park, which means the Americans are footing the bill for us. The more they raise a fuss, the more aggressive the words in the newspapers will be, and when it’s time for a slap in the face, it’ll hit harder!”

Hearing this, Su Qingqing’s eyes lit up: ”You’re right; I nearly forgot about that.”

Huo Sining said, ”Let’s not rush to sell the diamonds. We’ll talk about it once we get back home. I’m planning to ask Windsor Reed and Adrian to help when it’s time to clear things up, so we definitely have to wait for the transaction to complete, and for them to safely bring the diamonds back to England before we proceed.”

Su Qingqing understood and her previous anxious look vanished immediately. She hung up the phone feeling relieved and happily continued browsing through the news.

After hanging up the phone, Huo Sining’s expression turned serious.

Even though she spoke with a smile to Su Qingqing, she couldn’t suppress the anger surging inside.

Although the Philadelphia Black Market is legal in America, the media has never interfered before, partly due to the Rothschild Family’s low-key operations and partly because the market inevitably involves shady dealings. If the media truly dives in, some troublemaker might uncover hidden scandals, putting them in a passive position.

But this time, with so many media outlets competing to cover the Black Market auction, with the news taking top headlines, even surpassing Hollywood stars in drawing attention, it was peculiar.

Huo Sining could almost be certain that even if it wasn’t the Philadelphia Black Market’s organizers leaking the information, Clayflo definitely played a role in promoting it. The reason was obvious: to discomfit her or to make it difficult for her to peacefully take the beast heads home!

A cold grin appeared at the corner of Huo Sining’s mouth.

Having overheard Su Qingqing’s words, Gu Xu brought over a tablet and quickly opened the web page. Sure enough, the headline news on the homepage was about the Philadelphia Black Market auction.

Gu Xu immediately frowned: ”Was this Clayflo’s doing?”

Huo Sining nodded: ”No one else could’ve done such a thing!”

Gu Xu hesitantly asked, ”Could it be Fujiwara Seiho and those guys? They knew yesterday in the hall that the person who won the beast heads was you.”

Huo Sining shook her head: ”To have so many media outlets simultaneously print headline news overnight, Fujiwara Seiho doesn’t have that kind of power, let alone Zhou Zhenliang Jinghong and those folks. Only the Rothschild Family could mobilize the media like this.”

Gu Xu was convinced.

Though news was pouring in, Huo Sining did not display particularly furious expressions, as she predicted this information would spread. Even if Clayflo hadn’t done it, the attendees at yesterday’s auction were plenty, and someone would inevitably leak it, leading the media to investigate; it was just a matter of sooner or later.

Now that the news was out, Huo Sining could foresee that before long someone would dig up the information about her winning the beast heads, and then the uproar wouldn’t be limited to America—domestic scenes would be stirred too.

Indeed, Huo Sining’s prediction was spot on. As she and Gu Xu continued checking the news, another report climbed to the top, and upon opening it, the report discussed the auction at the Philadelphia Black Market, highlighting that the final bidder for the two beast heads was the same person, a Huaxia individual.

The news caused quite a stir outside, with many American-Chinese people shocked by the revelation.

”Breaking News: Two Zodiac Beast Heads Appear at Philadelphia Black Market, Bidder Suspected To Be Huaxia Person!”

”350 Million US Dollars, Huaxia Person Wins Two Beast Heads at Philadelphia!”

”Big Purchase: Two More Zodiac Beast Heads Returning to the Homeland!”

Some excited Chinese, overwhelmed with enthusiasm, couldn’t wait to log into various domestic forums and started posting related threads, even uploading screenshots of American news reports.

It was just past eleven at night domestically, and many internet surfers were still up in front of their computers, unable to sleep.

Gu Li, a frequent night owl, had just successfully completed a game quest and logged off. Bored, he browsed through the Cape Forum and refreshed the page, seeing such a news headline on the homepage.

”350 Million US Dollars, Huaxia Person Wins Two Beast Heads at Philadelphia!”

It’s been years since any news on the twelve zodiac beast heads appeared domestically, let alone two at once. The headline was striking, with such an exaggerated number.

million US dollars—to convert that to RMB, how much would it be?

Gu Li calculated silently and couldn’t help but sneer, cursing the poster for being brainless or making a typo, writing 350 million instead of 35 million.
