Reborn As Super Heiress

Capítulo 1599: Chapter 1582: Old Mr. Zhong

Huo Sining and Gu Xu leaving was just a ruse. After getting the driver to drive the car out of sight of the big camphor tree, they quickly turned back to it.

However, this time, only Huo Sining and Gu Xu returned. After some excuses from Huo Sining and Gu Xu, the driver was sent away.

Because of the Invisibility Spell, their return did not attract anyone’s attention.

Not long after Huo Sining and Gu Xu returned, the door of the house suddenly creaked open, and that white-haired man came out again, glanced at the BMW car, and called out, “Mr. Lu, my father invites you in. Please follow me.”

Lu Huairu nodded upon hearing this and followed the white-haired man into the courtyard.

Huo Sining and Gu Xu were crouching at the house entrance. Seeing this situation, they quickly followed suit, slipping into the courtyard.

Since the Invisibility Spell only worked within two meters of Huo Sining, Gu Xu had to stay close behind her.

After entering the courtyard, they followed the two people through the small alleys of the old house, and before long, they were led into a room.

Fearing they would be detected if they got too close, they dared not enter the room but stood outside listening silently.

“Brother, it’s been a while.”

Upon entering the room, Lu Huairu asked with a faint smile.

Through the door, Huo Sining and Gu Xu saw an old man shaping clay at a mold, bent over with his hands kneading the edge while the wheel spun, saying:

“To shape a round vessel, several points must be noted: keep the turntable level and the rotation smooth to avoid thickness disparity…”

This was clearly not directed at Lu Huairu but at a little girl sitting opposite the old man.

It seemed the old man was explaining the art of porcelain-making to her.

After about half a minute, the old man looked up at Lu Huairu and said flatly, “You’re here.”

Lu Huairu obviously felt slighted by this old man and a flash of anger crossed his eyes, but remembering what he needed to say, he swallowed his anger again.

Looking at the obedient little girl in front of the old man, Lu Huairu’s eyes flickered and he smiled:

“This little girl must be your great-granddaughter, Brother. When you joined our Taoist sect, you should have transcended worldly affairs, yet now you indulge in these familial entanglements. Since you couldn’t let go of them, why did you join the Tao and waste time?”

The old man’s eyes hardened, and he said to the white-haired man who had just entered, “Yu Hua, take Lulu away. I need to catch up with Taoist Huairu. Make sure no one interrupts.”

The white-haired man seemed anxious, glancing cautiously at Lu Huairu who was smiling mischievously, hesitated a little, then led the little girl out of the room.

Left in the room were only Lu Huairu and the old man, who wore a Taoist robe. Slowly washing his hands in a clear-water basin beside the mold, he turned and stared at Lu Huairu with deep eyes:

“Speak up. You’ve gone to such lengths to find me and traveled so far—surely it’s not just to catch up. I’m busy; be straightforward.”

Huo Sining stood outside, puzzled why they hadn’t encountered Liang Pengzhi, who should have entered the house first.

Her eyes wandered as she pondered where Liang Pengzhi could have gone.

The old man’s direct words caught her attention. Turning her head, Huo Sining was stunned.

The old man had silver hair and a face full of wrinkles but his complexion was rosy, his gaze sharp and spirited, not at all like the elderly she usually saw.

What struck Huo Sining most was how this old man’s features closely resembled those of Madam Yan she had met in the Imperial Capital.

This realization hit her hard, and joy spilled from her eyes.

If she was right, the old man before her was the creator of the Zhong imitation they had sought tirelessly—Old Mr. Zhong.

But the old man seemed even older than Mr. Feng from Porcelain Village. Could he still produce those Zhong imitations?

“Brother, you haven’t changed in decades, straightforward as ever. I won’t beat around the bush. Do you remember the things our master left on his deathbed?”

As Lu Huairu spoke, his eyes were fixed intently on Old Mr. Zhong, probing him.

Sure enough, when he finished, Old Mr. Zhong’s expression changed, his eyes piercing as they swept over Lu Huairu: “If that’s why you’re here, my answer is still the same—no comment. I won’t interfere with your part; whatever you do is your business. But my part will never go to you.”

Lu Huairu kept the smile on his face, but his eyes turned cold: “Brother, it’s fine to have ambitions in life. Since you can’t let go of these future generations, wanting to enjoy their company, shouldn’t you at least stay alive?”

He continued, “I did fall short when I tried to take those things from you back then. We’re Qingxu Sect’s last hope, and for Master’s sake, we should live on. Do you not understand Master’s intentions?”

Despite Lu Huairu’s words, Old Mr. Zhong’s expression didn’t soften, though the intensity of his opposition lessened: “What exactly are you proposing?”

Lu Huairu smirked, “My proposal is simple, Brother. With what we hold, it shouldn’t be difficult to find the Immortal Mountain Divine Country. Once we ascend to eternal life, it will be easy for you to enjoy time with your descendants. You won’t fear Yama coming for you, isn’t that a good thing?”

Old Mr. Zhong’s eyes filled with ridicule, and he sneered, “In the end, isn’t this all for yourself? Don’t pretend it’s for my sake—I know what kind of person you are.”

Lu Huairu shook his sleeves with a smile, “While it’s for me, it’s also for you, Brother. We can both win, cooperating for mutual benefit. Why not?”

“But you, Brother, since leaving the Qingxu Sect, haven’t things been tough? You lectured me often on principles and moral boundaries, but have you adhered? Otherwise, why work with that Dongyang man named Gao, reviving old trades, dealing in forgeries?”
