Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1568: Chapter 1552: Useless Teammates

Looking at the box of lethal weapons brought out by Fujiwara Seiho’s bodyguard, Oil Rat’s heart was pounding like a drum, his face turned deathly pale, and he was on the verge of collapsing.

Indeed, if Huo Sining were here at this moment, she would definitely recognize that the man in the long robe in front of her was the very Fujiwara Seiho who had previously escaped from the underwater ancient tomb in the suburbs of the Magic Capital using a smoke bomb.

As a matter of fact, Oil Rat also did not expect that Fujiwara Seiho managed to evade capture by the police in the underwater ancient tomb.

Oil Rat wasn’t so lucky in the underwater ancient tomb; after being caught by the police, he was detained for a long time. After various interrogations to investigate the whereabouts of Old Mr. Zhong, the police finally released him.

However, once released, he didn’t gain freedom; he was handed over to Huo Sining, and Qibao even administered a poisonous Gu to him.

True to his name, Oil Rat managed to escape from police custody by exploiting a loophole with Qibao while under the surveillance of Huo Sining and Gu Xu.

After escaping, Oil Rat knew he would certainly become a target for police pursuit, and he even planned to smuggle himself abroad.

Little did he know, just days before he planned to flee to Myanmar, he was suddenly contacted by a man claiming to be named Gao Yuyuan. This Gao Yuyuan, under the guise of Fujiwara Seiho, asked him to accompany him to Xiangxi, promising a smooth escape abroad after the mission, and even promised to procure legal Dongyang nationality documents for him.

Oil Rat had many weaknesses, his greatest being greed and fear for his life.

Oil Rat had previously worked with Fujiwara Seiho twice, and the commissions were indeed substantial, and he was highly trustworthy.

Besides, smuggling abroad without money and identity surely wouldn’t work.

Therefore, when Gao Yuyuan offered him double the commission and safety in leaving the country with a new identity, Oil Rat agreed without hesitation.

However, this time he misjudged the situation.

He initially thought the task Gao Yuyuan mentioned was merely digging a tunnel for them.

Oil Rat was anticipating finishing this task and fleeing afar with millions in commission.

But he never expected Fujiwara Seiho to be so crazed, directly bringing out bombs, scaring Oil Rat and his group senseless.

With this much explosives, the mountain will definitely erupt, but they are nothing but flesh and blood, how can they withstand the power of explosives and rubble?

By then, even if the mountain collapses and Fujiwara Seiho finds what he wants, they would all be doomed!

Though Oil Rat usually had quite a gutsy personality, otherwise he wouldn’t be involved in tomb robbing, braving danger and risking one’s life are two different matters. Looking at the box of weapons before him, he could only feel as if tens of thousands of alpacas were stampeding through his heart.

Seeing Fujiwara Seiho almost mad with urgency, he even tried to persuade verbally: ”Mr. Fujiwara—”

However, before he could utter another word, Fujiwara Seiho had already coldly glanced in his direction.

With just a look, a sharp throwing knife brushed past Oil Rat’s cheek and embedded itself into the stone wall beside him.

After piercing the stone wall, the knife continued to tremble, emitting a faint buzzing sound near Oil Rat’s ear.

The sudden skillful act from Fujiwara Seiho startled Oil Rat into silence.

”If you keep talking nonsense, I’ll cut your tongue out!”

Oil Rat’s face alternated between pale and flushed, as Fujiwara Seiho’s snake-like gaze bore into him, clutching another dagger and playing it between his hands.

Oil Rat felt a chill run down his spine, seemingly perceiving the dagger in Fujiwara’s hands was moments away from slicing across his neck.

Oil Rat didn’t truly understand what Fujiwara Seiho was searching for with his repeated tomb invasions, but clearly, it was of great significance to him.

It was only vexing for Oil Rat that this Dongyang demon was a complete layman in tomb raiding, seeing only the grand allure of treasure without comprehending the unspeakable hazards inside these caves!

With the box of bombs so close, Oil Rat’s heart trembled uncontrollably, forcing himself to feign a smile and grit his teeth in persistence.

Nevertheless, internally he raged furiously:

**** damn it, you bunch of idiot teammates, if you want the treasure, go find it yourselves, don’t drag me down!

Enough already, since you demons are rushing to reincarnate, I’ll help you along! After all, you’re not afraid of dying!

With my escape skills, I’ll definitely survive! Whether you live or die has nothing to do with me!

With that thought, Oil Rat steeled himself, ignoring the threatening glances of those behind him, picked up the Luoyang Shovel and moved forward, examining the two passageways briefly, then leading the group towards the left tunnel.

...

Elsewhere, after ensuring no more arrows would launch from the metal box, Huo Sining and the group cautiously entered the cleared area and swiftly crossed it.

However, after merely ten meters, they came across two sets of skeletal remains.

The skeletons were slightly darkened, with stray arrows nearby, indicating death by poisoning.

Upon seeing the remains, Gu Xu crouched down to examine them; after a brief inspection of the bodies, his expression darkened slightly, saying:

”These skeletons have been here for decades, we’re not the first to enter this cave.”

”Let’s move on.”

Mr. Huang’s face was somber, knowing that whatever lies ahead might be even more daunting.

The group continued down the passageway, scrutinizing as they went, but surprisingly, after bypassing the poisoned arrows trap, the cave seemed less perilous than anticipated, devoid of any traps.

Yet, despite such smooth progress, Mr. Huang and his companions felt increasingly uneasy with each step.

The cave’s owner had crafted such intricate entrance mechanisms and installed poisoned crossbows at the doorway; it was illogical for them to enter the cave so easily.

Everyone’s anxiety was heightened, each person vigilant and tense.

After traversing dozens of meters, Mr. Huang abruptly halted, noting the dual pathways ahead with a glimmer of darkness in his gaze.

”Mr., what’s wrong?”

Seeing Mr. Huang staring silently at the dual pathways nearby, the others sensed something amiss.

Mr. Huang frowned, suddenly turning to Huo Sining, and asked, ”Miss Huo, which way do you think we should go?”
