Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1449: Chapter 1433: Contact

Huo Sining originally didn’t notice any problems, but now hearing He Fuye say that someone from Dongyang had come to his welfare home to buy an ancient instrument, she felt a pang in her heart, vaguely sensing something amiss.

”A Dongyang person? What is this person’s name, and how did he know you had an ancient instrument for sale?” Huo Sining asked puzzledly.

He Fuye furrowed his brow, trying hard to recall, and said, ”I don’t quite remember the name, but this person knew about me selling the ancient instrument from the pawn shop. Didn’t I just say I took the instrument to a pawn shop before?”

”At the pawn shop I went to, there was just a young manager there. I wasn’t satisfied with the price he offered. The manager said he couldn’t make the decision for a higher price and had to consult the boss. He asked if he could take some photos of the instrument. I thought, taking a few photos wouldn’t cost me anything, so I let him do it and even left a contact number for him.”

”But after a month passed, the pawn shop didn’t get back to me, so I figured there wasn’t much hope there, which is why I thought of asking Rong He for help. Then, about a week ago, the Dongyang person came to my welfare home, saying he saw photos of the consigned ancient instrument at the pawn shop, and wanted to ask if I was still selling it.”

”The person was quite friendly, but I didn’t want to sell it to him. I told him I had already put the instrument up for an auction exhibition a week later, and if he wanted to buy it, he should just attend the auction and bid there.”

He Fuye explained the situation and concluded, ”Unexpectedly, after being passed around so many places, that ancient instrument ended up shattered; it was just its fate.”

Huo Sining couldn’t help but smile bitterly. Fate? It was because you were carrying this instrument around everywhere that it attracted trouble and the covetousness of outsiders. If you knew the inside story, you wouldn’t take it so lightly.

Having experienced such things herself, discovering things like parchment, nautical charts, and wax pills among antiques, made Huo Sining believe that He Fuye’s ancient instrument might also hide some big secret inside. However, since it had been kept at home by He Fuye all this time, no one had noticed, but recently, as he frequently moved around with the instrument, it must have made someone suspicious, leading to today’s robbery and murder.

Thinking of this, Huo Sining felt that the antique shops, pawn shops, and even that Dongyang person whom He Fuye had visited were very suspicious.

”Mr. He, do you remember exactly which antique shops and pawn shops you visited? Could you elaborate?” Huo Sining continued probing.

By now, He Fuye had sensed something odd from Huo Sining’s consecutive questions and couldn’t help but ask nervously, ”Young lady, why are you asking all this? Could it be that there’s something wrong with those antique shops and pawn shops?”

Huo Sining nodded and shook her head, ”Whether there’s a problem or not can only be known after investigating. But I think whoever orchestrated this robbery and murder must have seen your ancient instrument beforehand and had some understanding of its value, only then daring to take such a big risk. So, I think this might be a clue for the police investigation.”

He Fuye and Shi Ronghe exchanged glances, their eyes revealing signs of surprise and tension.

After recalling carefully for a while, He Fuye recounted the antique shops and pawn shops he had visited. Although his memory had faded, he could vaguely recall the names of these places. Combined with specific street locations, they could basically be found out one by one upon investigation.

After making these notes, Huo Sining handed the information to Gu Xu, and whispered to him,

”Have someone check out these pawn shops and antique shops, see who owns them, and if there’s anything unusual. Also, it would be best to check if any of these shops have connections with the Dongyang people. I have a feeling that the Dongyang person who actively sought out the welfare home is a bit suspicious. Find a way to uncover this Dongyang person.”

Gu Xu nodded, not questioning why Huo Sining wanted this done, and went out to make a call.

At that moment, Qibao came bouncing in from outside, playing with a vine as a whip. Seeing the vine in Qibao’s hand, He Fuye suddenly slapped his forehead, ”Oh, I remember now. My memory is slipping! The Dongyang person who came to the welfare home was named Fujiwara Daichuan. The name was a bit strange; the surname Fujiwara is what I remember. Seeing the little one play with the vine reminded me.”

Fujiwara?! Huo Sining’s heart sank, suddenly recalling Fujiwara Seiho, who had escaped by throwing a smoke bomb after being shot at the underwater ancient tomb in the suburbs of Magic Capital.

Fujiwara Daichuan, this name sounds a bit like Fujiwara Seiho’s. Could these two be related?

Huo Sining found it suspicious, recalling how Fujiwara Seiho was searching for something on the Awa Maru, and later visited domestic major ancient tombs, seemingly looking for something. Then connecting it to the two robbers during the day who smashed the ancient instrument on stage, seemingly looking for something in the fragments, Huo Sining couldn’t help but leap in her heart, a strong premonition surged up.

She felt that Fujiwara Daichuan was very likely one of Fujiwara Seiho’s people, and this robbery and murder incident was very likely orchestrated by Fujiwara Seiho himself!

Fujiwara Seiho was wounded in the ancient tomb, and couldn’t have recovered so quickly, but Huo Sining remembered overhearing on the Awa Maru that this Fujiwara Seiho was also a Sect Master of the Iga-ryu, having quite a few people at his disposal.

Having suffered a loss in the ancient tomb, Fujiwara Seiho certainly wouldn’t let things end there, moreover, it seemed that the thing hidden within He Fuye’s ancient instrument was also part of what he sought.

Huo Sining was initially curious about what Fujiwara Seiho was searching for. Now, with so much happening, her confusion deepened. She recalled the mysterious iron box she had seized from the divers trapped by the Pingkuan Sea Snake on the Awa Maru.

The box had been left lying in her storage space, and she never thought to look inside to see what it held. But now, Huo Sining found her interest piqued.

She really wanted to know if that box was what Fujiwara Seiho was looking for, then what on earth could be hidden inside?
