Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 143: Chapter 130: The Gap (4,000 Words)

”Did you hear that?”

The last sentence was shouted at Xiaoma.

Although Lu Xiao’s words were rough, they were like a stabilizing force. The scolding woke everyone up.

Only then did Lu Xiao lift his head and see Jiang Rong crouching with a few others under the cover on the opposite side.

There was no intention of picking up the guns.

’Each one is craftier than the last!’

”Follow me!” Lu Xiao whispered sternly, leading a few others rushing towards the cover.

Due to the constraints of the situation, Lu Xiao couldn’t make any sophisticated arrangements, merely directing a few people to encircle the position of heavily injured soldiers.

Along with Lu Xiao’s orders, they opened fire one after another to probe.

Although none of them had awakened any firearm-related skills, all eight squad members were Evolvers, with strength, speed, and reflexes far superior to ordinary people, so the bullets wouldn’t stray too far.

Lu Xiao, Xiaoma, and two others approached from two different directions.

Recalling the tactical maneuvers learned in the military, Lu Xiao was thinking about which action to use for the most surprising approach when he saw a grenade roll over the next second.

Cold sweat burst out from all over him, and he turned to dive towards the open space on the side.

”Boom!”

The shockwave traveled through his arms, and Lu Xiao realized for the first time the significance of the defensive fall.

Before he could feel relieved, he saw those deep cold eyes behind the concrete block, resembling green wolves he had seen in the forest.

The opponent was sitting behind a one-meter wide concrete pillar, holding an assault rifle with one hand, already aimed in another direction.

Seeing Lu Xiao and his two men under attack, those subordinates thought they had an opportunity, quickening their pace.

”No!”

Lu Xiao only managed to utter a single note.

”Bang bang bang——”

Three crisp gunshots, two heads exploded.

Blood flowers erupted from the forehead, and the two newly cultivated Evolver subordinates were killed on the spot.

”Damn it!”

Xiaoma beside him roared in grief and anger, stood up abruptly, and rushed past the corner, aiming his gun at the soldier behind.

The soldier decisively abandoned his assault rifle, reached out to grab the gun barrel directly, and lifted it forcefully.

The hard gun barrel even showed signs of deformation in the hands of the two defenders.

The gun muzzle flared suddenly, with bright yellow flames shooting up the gun’s body.

It misfired.

While Xiaoma was stunned, the heavily injured soldier, like a wild beast rising vigorously, pounced him to the ground, pressing the struggling Xiaoma with his shoulder, reaching for his back waist with one hand.

Seeing that move made Lu Xiao’s scalp explode, and he charged directly over.

But the soldier lying on Xiaoma had his gun aimed in Lu Xiao’s direction.

Cold and composed from beginning to end.

The rapidly changing battlefield information was filtered by him, and using honed experience, he found the most appropriate combat strategy.

His goal wasn’t to deal with a few people but to eliminate the next threat that could cause him lethal damage!

Xiaoma, whose evolution was inferior to his, lost his threat the moment the gun misfired, and being pinned down was like a lamb waiting to be slaughtered, while the next threatening target was Lu Xiao holding a gun!

The soldier decisively pulled the trigger.

In an instant, Lu Xiao felt as if his body was electrified, a sharp energy shot from his spine to his scalp, and his previously sluggish legs could suddenly be controlled.

Though he didn’t know where the strength came from, Lu Xiao chose to trust his instincts.

Use it!

Blood coursed from the heart, like a roaring river, surging through the blood vessels, his thigh muscles expanded to the limit in an instant, and the whole person darted in a strange s-shape, then tackled the soldier.

”Bang!”

The three men were stacked behind the concrete block.

Lu Xiao’s hands clamped tightly on the opponent’s gun-wielding right hand, and then he smashed his elbow fiercely into the opponent’s face.

Although the soldier could only use one hand, he was not to be outdone, retaliating fiercely.

Three Servant Soldiers were drawn to the fight but didn’t dare get close. Hesitating for a moment, they raised their old-fashioned rifles to take potshots.

”Bang—ratatatat!”

The Servant Soldier who first raised his gun was taken down by a bullet from seemingly nowhere.

The remaining two hadn’t reacted before another burst of bullets wiped them away.

Jiang Rong stood up from behind cover, holding a gun, and turned to look at the train, seeing a hot-bodied woman in a leather jacket carrying a sniper rifle, sprinting their way.

”Captain Jiang, are we still going?”

Lu Xiao, who was gaining the upper hand against the soldiers, caught one last glance.

Jiang Rong shook her head, ”There’s no benefit in it now. Going over there will only tear things apart, even the little goodwill just gained.”

...

Lu Xiao lay on the ground, gasping for breath, his chest heaving violently, as a few tingling sensations in his chest turned into sharp pain.

He had been shot after all.

Although he just awakened his skill, the opponent was an Evolver with firearms. With such a big target, it was impossible to miss. It was just that the sudden changes caused the shots aimed at his head to hit his torso instead.

It was because of this little mistake that life and death were decided immediately.

”Brother Xiao, it hurts like hell!”

Xiaoma howled beside him.

Lu Xiao didn’t have any energy to bother with him at the moment.

During the fight, the soldier’s gun wavered, hitting him once, then pulled out a knife and exchanged a few blows with Lu Xiao.

Not just him, Lu Xiao was also stabbed twice.

The knife wounds estimated to be deeper than the gunshot wounds.

The short few minutes of fighting felt more exhausting than any of his trainings.

But beyond the physical, it was more of a mental bewilderment.

Why did Su Huan kill these elite soldiers as if he was slaughtering chickens, while so many of them nearly failed to kill a severely injured soldier?

Is the power difference between an ordinary Evolver and a Tier One Evolver really this vast?

Suddenly, he felt a soft body pounce on him, worsening the wounds that were already somewhat soothing.

A loud slap landed on his face.

The opposite of the one he’d given just now.

Symmetry.

The chaotic bewilderment was also swept away by the slap.

Feeling the surging emotions of the woman, Lu Xiao smiled bitterly, ”Can you let me get back alive first, and then give me a chance to explain?”

Miao Qi straightened up, much like in the night, only this time not tossing her hair, but the sniper rifle slung behind her.

While inspecting his injuries, she gritted her teeth and said, ”You might as well die out there so I can hurry and find another man.”

”The best scenery is on the road, the best man is the next one, and as a kind reminder from the conductor, the train is about to start. If you want to change man, just leave him there to fend for himself since there’s a surgeon on board with thirty-five years of clinical experience who could surely save him.”

Su Huan’s earnest voice appeared in their ears.

Just by hearing the voice, they could guess the fake smile on his face!

The group hurriedly dragged Lu Xiao and the soldier’s corpse onto the train, only to be met by the unperturbed conductor at the entrance.

Aside from slightly disheveled hair, even his clothes were spotless.

Su Huan looked at the half-dead Lu Xiao again and surprisingly said, ”Why bring back the dead? I haven’t been skimping on your food, have I?”

Lu Xiao opened his eyes, spitting out blood froth, ”Points.”

”Ah, he’s alive, drag him in then, your points will certainly be calculated.”

Su Huan waved his hand.

Turning his head to the passengers returning one after another, and the armed helicopter hanging in the distant sky, a cold smile appeared on the corners of his lips.

Trying to stall him?

”Liang Kuan, continue towards Changli, I want to see how patient he is!”

As Su Huan’s order went out.

The eight-thousand-ton armored train moved once more, the thunderous sound drawing everyone’s attention.

The remaining Servant Soldiers breathed a sigh of relief. They had long lost the will to fight, and the reason they hadn’t retreated was that the area was surrounded by zombies, held back only by the mass of people and heavy firepower. If they left alone, their vintage rifles wouldn’t keep them alive.

But the passengers who didn’t manage to get on were dumbfounded.

Crying out for their parents as they chased behind.

As Su Huan passed the dining car, he patted the young aunt’s shoulder, her shirt soaked in sweat, his fingertips felt the warm breath.

”The recharge pack only has about ten rounds. To suppress those snipers over there, you did really well.”

The latter’s almond eyes widened slightly, with a hint of daze, then she looked at Su Huan’s calm expression and heavily nodded her head.

Within that moment, many sparkling emotions flashed in her eyes, finally settling in the cobalt blue depths.

Like the tilting acid rain outside, washing everything, leaving only the hardest, most impenetrable elements behind.

”What should we do next?”

”What to do before a big battle?” Su Huan pinched his chin, thinking carefully about the question, ”...perhaps play some exciting music?”
