Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 115: Chapter 107: Joint Convoy of Workers, Farmers, and Medical Staff (Part 2)

From start to finish, the other side showed not a trace of resistance.

He Jie walked to the side, looking at the zombie with muscles charred, swallowed, ”Is your current that powerful?”

Su Huan glanced at him, ”You should be thankful that there were a lot of people who came in that day; otherwise, just you alone, I guarantee you’d have taken an entire clip of 14.5.”

Because the floor was pure metal structure steel plates, the energy consumed just now wasn’t much, less than a tenth, only a bit more than firing a single shot.

When it comes to solo combat, there are only two scenarios with Su Huan: controllable and uncontrollable.

Controllable means instant kill, uncontrollable means being killed.

After all, they are all carbon-based lifeforms, whoever gets struck feels numb.

Su Huan’s gaze turned to the surveillance in mid-air, and after entering here, the survivors no longer made a sound.

According to the plan, they should be making noise on the other side to distract the zombies.

However, he was waiting for someone else.

After three breaths, a slightly panting voice reached Su Huan’s ears, ”I’ve found them, hiding on the third floor, there’s a passage between the main building, but there are zombies wandering inside.”

Su Huan showed a gentle smile; apart from the water, little aunt had never disappointed him.

”Clear them out, show your presence.”

”Okay!”

As soon as the words fell, a strange tone rang from the broadcast at a diagonal angle.

”26,000 miles east of the Rakshasa Kingdom”

”Cross seven paths, reach the yellow mud grounds three inches past Jiao Sea~”

In that instant, all the zombies in the logistics center fell silent, only that exotic tone was melodious and lingering, the Butcher struggled out of the corpse group, letting out an excited roar, like pouring a bowl of cold water into boiling oil, the entire storage space erupted immediately.

Countless hidden shadows ran towards the sound.

The number of Tier One Zombies alone exceeded ten, the sheer density of zombies in the logistics center made one’s scalp tingle.

Su Huan, too, was hard-controlled for three seconds, gave a thumbs-up to the surveillance above.

”Nice taste.”

Quickly bringing a few people along, they jumped towards the sorting line, crossed several platforms, and climbed to the third floor.

Upon opening the side door, pairs of black and red eyes looked over.

”Damn, sorry for the disturbance.”

Su Huan threw in two grenades to apologize, closed the door, and counted to three.

A tremor came from behind the thick metal door.

Opened the door, letting He Jie rush in first, a woodpecker-like knocking sound echoed from behind the door, Lao San and the others followed closely.

When Su Huan entered again, he could only see remnants scattered all over the place.

”Run forward, there’s a passage on the right that leads directly to the data center.”

A male voice came from the surveillance at the top right corner.

Su Huan didn’t have time to respond, dashed across a corridor dozens of meters long, just in time to see the last zombie in the passage fall, shattered glass cascading onto the disarrayed bodies.

...

A heated argument was happening in the room.

”As you can see, they’re very strong, didn’t bring disaster, and even cleared the zombies outside!” Xiaozhao pointed at the screen on the monitor and said.

”Then why would they be so kind to save us if they are that strong?”

”They should be here for supplies, saving us was just a side task.”

”Heh, anyone seeing so many zombies at the logistics center would turn back, any resource outside is easier to get than here, probably just like those from the Mojiang Mutual Aid Convoy...”

This person curled up in the corner, a slight cold mock on his thin face.

”You—”

Xiaozhao was infuriated.

”Knock, knock, knock”

The elder knocked on the table, waiting for everyone’s eyes to focus on him, he sighed and said.

”Although you are Old Jiang’s students, I am Old Jiang’s fellow disciple, which sort of makes us from the same sect, Old Jiang entrusted you to me hoping that based on this connection, you’d stick together and live well.”

The students around were slightly moved, but didn’t feel deeply about the elder’s words.

”My hometown was cold when I was a child, even those not related by blood but neighbors had to stick together.”

”If we couldn’t hold on, a little help from left and right neighbors would make it work.”

”Your era is different, anyway it’s no longer too hard to avoid starvation, but now the world has changed.”

The elder’s tone was not intense, more mild, unlike a scholarly figure educating students, more like an elder reminding his children.

Xiaozhao felt an ominous premonition in his heart, a few sensitive girls were already sobbing softly.

”Don’t cry, children.” The elder put on his glasses, gently smiling, ”Xiaozhao, later teacher will go out and check for you, if teacher dies, just don’t open the door, you’ve seen it, humans can be more terrifying than zombies.”

Xiaozhao’s mind trembled, ”Teacher, how could we let you...”

The elder waved his hand, ”I’ve lived for sixty years, except for your teacher’s wife, no one would mind these old bones, but you’ve only lived for a few days, haven’t tasted the world yet, perhaps your parents and family are still alive, leave a little hope for yourself, live well.”

”Xiaozhao, you are the eldest disciple, take care of them.”

After saying that, he pushed the door open and walked out.

”Creak—”

Just when Su Huan was wondering how to gently break the door, the one at the end of the corridor opened by itself.

An elderly gentleman, gray at the temples but looking spirited, walked out, wearing an ordinary checkered shirt, clearly possessing a scholarly aura beyond what glasses could provide.

The old man’s gaze scanned through the corpses on the ground, as if searching for something.

After lingering momentarily on a zombie of similar age, he finally looked up at Su Huan and the others, his gaze went past He Jie in front, directly locking onto Su Huan, ”Hello, we are survivors from the Joint Convoy of Workers, Farmers, and Medical Staff.”

Hearing this term, Su Huan was momentarily stunned.

Back in the high-temperature zone, he had longed for this group of highly skilled personnel.

But on the road, he didn’t encounter them, nor the main force of the Mojiang Mutual Aid Convoy.

Could it be that his butterfly wings flapped too hard?

”Professor Ma?”

A voice from behind with a hint of surprise called out the old man’s name.

The old man adjusted his glasses, then noticed a pretty girl behind, with some hesitation in his tone, ”You know me?”

Yu Jing nodded, ”During an academic conference last year, you were talking with my teacher, I was beside eating, my teacher is Lv Cheng.”

Professor Ma was initially puzzled, but upon hearing Lv Cheng’s name, he suddenly understood.

”I remember, you are the one Xiaolv mentioned... that...”

”Spendthrift child.”

Seeing Professor Ma pause, Yu Jing instantly understood what was happening, lightly filled in.

A relaxed smile appeared on the old man’s face, ”He said you broke many of his devices but found you particularly gifted, I wonder about your teacher... Let’s not talk about this, it’s dangerous outside, come in quickly.”

With Yu Jing as a communication bridge, the two groups quickly established an initial trust, at least the old man’s amicability wasn’t fake.

He Jie squinted, squeezed in with his anti-air machine gun, deliberately left the door wider for Su Huan to see inside.

The group entered the room.

Su Huan’s eyes immediately locked onto the large screen at the digital center, just this one big screen was six or seven meters long, all sorts of flashy monitoring systems made his eyes shine.

The thing his vehicle lacked the most was such goodies.

If he could take back the equipment from the digital center, the information terminal for the armed train would be set up.

After a short conversation, they got to the point.

”You just said you were from a convoy didn’t you, why only a dozen of you left?”

Su Huan looked at Professor Ma, puzzled.

Professor Ma looked at the scattered students around, a hint of bitterness flashed on his face, ”Did you see those zombies in the main building on your way up?”

Su Huan thought of the Tier One Jumper he had instantly killed.

It seemed it wasn’t wearing the logistics center uniform.

Everything clicked in his mind in an instant, understanding the cause and effect.

With a slight somberness in his eyes, ”How many evolvers were in your convoy?”
