Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Chapter 129: Chapter 119: Scavengers - I

Yu Jing’s Carriage No. 10 and Wan Xing’s No. 3 had a completely different vibe.

The first impression was chaos, various tools and mechanical parts were randomly scattered across the room.

But after a second look, amidst the rough and hard metals, a unique kind of beauty emerged.

Like the exoskeletons stacked by the wall resembling mechas, some only had a slender framework left, while others had panels partially covering them.

Su Huan’s gaze landed on Yu Jing, who opened the door for him. Around her strong calf was an additional circle of titanium alloy bones, following the arc of her muscles, stretched from the Achilles tendon to the knee, like muscle tape, then traced a bold curve into the wide denim jacket.

Just as he was curious about the structure of the exoskeleton, the obstructive denim jacket opened on its own.

Revealing a waist that could be held with one hand and a tight, toned abdomen.

The metallic color of the titanium alloy contrasted with the delicate skin, making the soft parts softer and the hard parts harder.

Instinctively taking a glance upward, Su Huan quickly covered his eyes, ”Eh?”

”Do you always work without clothes on?”

Yu Jing looked down at his hand, then at his expression, a hint of curiosity flashed in her eyes. Instead of backing off, she stepped closer, asking with interest, ”Shouldn’t there be some differences?”

Su Huan raised an eyebrow, ”You’ve compared yourself?”

Yu Jing nodded, ”I used to sleep with her as a child, only in recent years, we’ve slept separately.”

”You stand taller.”

”She’s actually never been with a man.”

Su Huan looked down at the woman in front of him, his expression subtle.

”I could tell. Initially, I doubted you.”

Yu Jing frowned a little, ”Are your interests that broad? It’s really difficult, but I did hold her back, none of those men had good intentions for her.”

Su Huan was slightly surprised, a smile played on his lips, ”That’s the most tactful compliment I’ve heard this year.”

Yu Jing chuckled lightly, her eyes forming crescent shapes, ”Guarded against wolves coming to eat, there’s a real wolf here that not only bites the meat but also the person. What can I do?”

In this heart-to-heart exchange, Su Huan was well aware she was speaking the truth.

”Though I don’t mind this position, don’t you find it bizarre?”

Yu Jing stepped back a bit, and Su Huan felt like he had lost something, empty and aimless.

He didn’t like this feeling. As she retreated, he stepped forward and wrapped his arms around her waist, following his own inclination to squeeze her before slowly pulling the zipper of her jacket, as if closing Pandora’s box, each step consuming immense willpower.

”Hiss... You’re truly dangerous,” Yu Jing said, staring into his eyes.

”How so?”

”Not only are you harsh on others, but also on your own desires.”

”Don’t always try to read the station master’s mind.”

”I’m your partner and comrade.”

Su Huan hadn’t expected that response.

Looking at her charmingly calm face, he seriously asked, ”Are you afraid?”

”A bit.”

Su Huan searched her pale face for traces of fear but for some reason, he sensed a fellow feeling, a sensation that made the corners of his mouth curl upward uncontrollably, lightly pecking her on the lips, ”Pretender.”

As if acknowledging her claim.

...

Looking at the simple exoskeleton assist device before him, Su Huan was somewhat puzzled, ”Is this the thing you modified?”

Yu Jing lifted it with one hand on the frame, naturally stating, ”This is the result of Professor Ma and me together, though if credit is to be divided, I have a bit more.”

Su Huan pinched his chin noncommittally, ”Then tell me about its functions.”

”First in terms of weight, I haven’t added any extra burden, maintaining it at 25 kg, and because of its unique lower body support, the wearer actually feels less than 3kg, but the enhancements they receive far exceed this level.”

”It doesn’t affect the user’s normal actions, but during prolonged walking or running, it helps conserve 15% of their energy.

”It enhances individual load capacity up to 60kg, equipped with multiple mounting positions for firearms and ammunition, and a small mechanical arm extends out to handle corrosive items that are inconvenient for manual handling.”

While explaining, Yu Jing raised her hand, revealing a clip-like mechanical arm under her arm.

”This mechanical hand can not only be a clip but also be replaced with a drill and other tools.”

”When using a hammer or lifting heavy objects, the exoskeleton supports the user with around 30kg of force.”

Su Huan couldn’t help but question, ”This doesn’t seem much different from before, you just downgraded high-end model functions to a standard exoskeleton.”

Yu Jing said helplessly, ”After all, we’re a manual workshop, getting functionality downgraded is already not easy, did you think I’m Doraemon?”

”Any other functions? Something more intelligent.”

”The exoskeleton is equipped with an intelligent chip. Professor Ma and I studied it, opened up its ports, so it can connect to various conventional devices, read data, and when paired with some tactical tablets or smartwatches, it can achieve synchronized viewing, while also using lithium batteries to reverse charge other devices.”

”This sounds good,” Su Huan picked up the exoskeleton and felt it, ”If a Power Supplier uses it, you could even save the battery.”

”Clap!”

Yu Jing mimicking Su Huan’s habitual action, snapped her fingers.

She smiled, ”Exactly, initially, I thought this thing was a perfect match for a Maker and a Power Supplier. That set over there is for you.”

Su Huan turned and saw another set of exoskeletons hanging on the wall next to the table.

Compared to the others, this exoskeleton had an extra set of shoe-like armors around the feet, covering the entire sole.

”This is the exoskeleton customized for you. Without lithium batteries, its weight is further reduced, so I thought of adding something, a bionic suction in the feet, allowing you to walk nearly vertically on building surfaces. The downside is it consumes a lot of energy, which would be impractical for a regular exoskeleton, but not for you.”

Su Huan’s eyes brightened, ”Very good design, have you tested it?”

”Not yet, you’re the first. But only the suction hasn’t been tested; other functions are no different from the general-purpose one.”

Yu Jing replied directly.

Su Huan rubbed his chin, ”Can the set you’re wearing be mass-produced?”

”The concept is settled, so the rest is quite convenient, not even needing me to do it. Other Makers can easily complete it. You can name it.”

”Let’s call it Scavenger.”
