Urban Martial Saint

Seeing these few people, Wuji took a deep breath but prepared to stop them. After taking two steps, he suddenly halted again. He glanced at Ye Qing in the distance, then looked at the group heading towards Mount Wendao, and a hint of doubt emerged in his heart. He murmured quietly, ”Could it be, this is Fate?”

Wuji looked up at the sky; the night remained unchanged from before. He pondered for a long time but simply couldn’t calculate the circumstances on the mountain. Although Ancestor Chen Tuan and Karmic Dao affected his divination results, the more crucial point was that he was completely unable to foretell anything about Ye Qing. That was also the reason he brought Ye Qing here.

With Ye Qing’s abilities, he should not yet be at the level to surpass Fate. Logically, Wuji should have been able to see through everything about him easily. However, Wuji could not discern anything about Ye Qing, which left Wuji rather astonished. Now, with such events happening beyond his foreknowledge, Wuji couldn’t help but suspect that everything was the result of destiny.

”So be it! So be it!” Wuji gazed at Ye Qing in the distance and whispered, ”Since this is Heaven’s will, I will not change anything. If you can find the Wendao Stone, then it is driven by fate. If you cannot find it, then it means you are not the chosen one by destiny. I’ll just take a gamble. Hope you won’t let me down!”

After speaking, Wuji turned around and left without paying any attention to those heading towards Mount Wendao. Even though Ye Qing carried the Tianzhu Sword up the mountain, he pretended to know nothing. Whatever happens on the mountain next will depend on Ye Qing’s fortune. No matter what, he would not intervene!

Mount Wendao was quite desolate, even more so than Mount Duwang which Ye Qing had seen before. However, perhaps due to the soil characteristics, there weren’t many trees, but there were many oddly-shaped stones, making it more troublesome to walk through than the forest.

Ye Qing had been unconscious for three days and had run this far as soon as he woke up, now utterly exhausted, and his stomach was also extremely hungry. After walking on the mountain road for about ten minutes, his stomach growled with hunger, making him powerless to continue climbing.

Ye Qing looked up at the sky; it was still dark, with the moon at its zenith, indicating it was midnight, and it would take a few more hours before dawn. Climbing at this time was not advisable, not only because the path was rugged but more so because of the abundance of wild beasts at night. Although Ye Qing had the Tianzhu Sword in his hand, he didn’t want to encounter those fierce beasts. After all, his current physical state was not suitable for battling wild beasts. Therefore, it was better to wait until dawn to proceed up the mountain.

Once he made up his mind, Ye Qing found a clearing nearby, gathered some firewood, and lit a fire. Wild beasts are generally afraid of fire, and having the fire nearby would scare them away. Then Ye Qing wandered around the nearby woods, caught a wild rabbit, quickly prepared it, roasted it over the fire, intending to stave off his hunger first.

The wild rabbit was halfway roasted when a cold voice suddenly came from afar. Ye Qing listened carefully; the person was speaking a foreign language, which made Ye Qing’s heart tense. After recent events, Ye Qing knew that the people from the Church had ulterior motives and were always coveting Huaxia. Encountering foreigners here, there was no doubt they were from the Church. Without thinking, Ye Qing already knew how troublesome his situation was.

Because Ye Qing’s Inner Strength was gone, he was now no different from an ordinary person, so when he heard the voice, these people were actually quite close to him. Ye Qing knew he had no time to evade them, so he hurriedly picked up the box containing the Tianzhu Sword and tossed it under a nearby large rock. This rock was about ten meters high, and Ye Qing didn’t know what was beneath it, but throwing the Tianzhu Sword down there was better than letting it fall into the hands of the Church.

Not long after the Tianzhu Sword was thrown out, footsteps approached. Ye Qing turned to look and saw three foreigners walking over from afar. These three formed a surrounding formation, enclosing him in the middle from a distance, seemingly to prevent him from escaping.

In fact, given Ye Qing’s current condition, even if these people didn’t encircle him, he couldn’t run away. Those who dared to come to Huaxia from the Church were at least Top-Level Masters, and in Ye Qing’s current situation, even someone capable of Internal Energy Release could easily suppress him.

Therefore, seeing these three approaching, Ye Qing did not run and remained sitting, continuing to roast his rabbit, intending to respond to change with constancy.

The three moved quickly, and soon they charged over, surrounding Ye Qing. They chattered among themselves, essentially asking who Ye Qing was. But Ye Qing pretended not to understand, continuing to sit and roast his rabbit, completely ignoring them.

Seeing Ye Qing not answer, the three were visibly annoyed. However, instead of attacking Ye Qing, they waited a moment, and then seven or eight more people emerged from the distant woods. Leading them was an elder in a black robe, towering at about over 190 cm in height. His eyes were sinister, emitting waves of cold light that could send shivers down one’s spine just from a glance.

Needless to say, he must be a Peak Master. Moreover, judging by his aura, he was definitely one of the top ones among Peak Masters, and his strength was surely formidable.

Ye Qing couldn’t discern the specifics of the others following him. However, since three of them were wearing red robes, they were presumably Red-robed Archbishops from the Church, undoubtedly possessing significant strength. As for the strength of the others, it couldn’t be inferred from their clothing, but judging from these few individuals, one could gauge the overall strength of the group.

Looking at these people, Ye Qing was also quite shocked. He had to admit, the experts from the Church were really numerous. Previously in Humeng City, he encountered two peak masters. And at the Tomb of the Duwang Sect Master, he saw two more peak masters. Now, here he was again encountering so many masters. Why did the Church’s experts seem endless?

Ye Qing didn’t know that after he left Mount Duwang, the Immortal Lord had killed seven or eight peak masters of the Church at the Doomsday Sect. If he knew about these people, he would definitely be even more shocked. Indeed, the number of peak masters from the Church was extremely large. The Church’s overall strength was actually greater than that of the martial artists from Huaxia!

Seeing these people coming over, one of the three people just now hurried forward and respectfully said to the elder leading them, ”Great Lord, this person doesn’t speak, and we don’t know if he’s mute. I guess he’s just an ordinary villager nearby. Why not just kill him, to avoid him exposing our tracks!”

Hearing the title, Ye Qing’s heart skipped a beat. He knew that experts within the Church were called Lords and Red-robed Archbishops, all of whom were peak masters. And now this person was called Great Lord, so what level was his strength? With an extra ’Great’, was his strength stronger than a regular Lord?

The Great Lord glanced at Ye Qing and said coldly, ”Late at night, someone alone is roasting a wild rabbit in this desolate wilderness, do you think he is an ordinary villager?”

The Great Lord’s wit was much higher than that of the person beside him. The man quickly nodded and said, ”But, I asked him so many questions, and he didn’t answer a single one. Great Lord, is this person deliberately hiding something?”

”Nonsense, he is a Huaxia countryman, you ask him with our language, of course, he doesn’t know how to answer!” the Great Lord shouted coldly, then turned to someone beside him and said, ”You go and ask him.”

”Yes!” An elder by the Great Lord nodded in agreement, walked over to Ye Qing, and asked in Huaxia language, ”Hey, what are you doing here?”

Hearing the conversation, Ye Qing realized these people did not recognize him, which made him slightly relieved. After all, he was currently in possession of the Buddha’s Relic, and if these people knew his identity, he would definitely be in danger. Since they didn’t know his identity, he could fabricate a story.

”I... I am a hunter in these mountains,” Ye Qing made up offhandedly.

”A hunter?” The elder frowned, scanning Ye Qing up and down, and said, ”What kind of hunter, can you be in this place? Is this area a hunting ground?”

Ye Qing replied, ”I have no choice, lately there’s been a shortage of game, so I have to venture deeper into the mountains; otherwise, it’s hard to catch anything good!”

”Hmph, do you take me for a fool?” the elder shouted angrily. ”I’ll ask you one more time—what are you really doing here? If you try to deceive me, don’t blame me for being impolite!”

Ye Qing said anxiously, ”I really am a hunter, I’m just hunting, how am I deceiving you?”

”Courting death!” the elder shouted furiously, suddenly rushing over and striking toward Ye Qing’s head.

Seeing the elder’s move, Ye Qing knew this elder also had peak strength. Given Ye Qing’s situation, even if his inner strength was still intact, he wouldn’t be able to dodge this strike, much less now. So, he didn’t bother to avoid it, letting the elder strike down, while secretly wondering if the power of the Buddha’s Relic and the Devouring Demon Flower inside him could withstand it. If this strike was blocked, wouldn’t the secret of his body be exposed?

While Ye Qing was pondering, the Great Lord in the distance suddenly shouted coldly, ”Don’t kill him, test him!”

Hearing the Great Lord’s words, the elder immediately withdrew his power. Although the strike seemed fierce, when it landed on Ye Qing, it had no actual force. The elder pinched Ye Qing’s wrist a few times, then turned his head to look at the Great Lord, surprised, and said, ”Great Lord, he really seems not to know any martial arts, he doesn’t have a trace of inner strength in his body!”
